Soaps
I'm going out of town Wednesday night and need to know if there are any storylines brewing on the soaps that might produce in the next week.

I'm leaning toward "One Life to Live" with the whole Mitch situation. (and Lindsey with her necktie.)

On "Days" I could see Cassie doing something to get Belle out of the way of her and Shawn, but not anytime soon.

Any other soaps have possiblities?

John Doe
Also, has there been a postive ID on "John Doe" (meaning a lady has actually been shown in ropes on a promo), or is it still just everyone hoping.

Hope you've got two VCRs, G-Man. There's a definite gag scene in "Hack" on Friday at 9 p.m. and at least a tie-up scene at the same time Friday on "John Doe."

The soaps have been quiet lately.

G-Man: On today's episode of Y&R in Canada,(which will be shown on CBS Wednesday) pretty "Brittany" (Lauren Woodward) is in trouble with two bad guys who break in to her apartment - no tie up or gag yet,but the story looks like it will carry on for at least one more day-so there is a possibility of a scene...maybe...(BTW, she looks pretty good in that lingerie she is wearing!)

Dopn't blame the writers. They have no control over how the scene is set up, photographed or how long it is. Blame the pace of TV production. Maybe the scene was shot late in the day and everyone wanted to get home. Obviously they wanted to make it play very fast so they could get on to other plot points, so they made it easy to untie the damsels. Henstridge's gag was just lying around her neck, not even knotted.

'Avengers' Book
If you ever come across the book in the link, there are a couple of pictures of Honor Blackman and Diana Rigg B&G.

Also, the book was published in 1983 and has a section dealing with the soon-to-be-aired 'The New Avengers'. On page 175, there's an interesting passage dealing with the show's comparsions with Charlie's Angels. Here's the text:
-------------------------------------------------------

"Joanna Lumley, angered by the criticism, blasted back 'I don't mind anyone saying other women are prettier and I'm the first to admit that Charlie's ladies are lovely. All that sitting around in the California sunshine with dark brown tans that make their teeth look twice as white. I'd like to see an Angel, pale as a lily, crawling around the back lot in Pinewood in March.' (Joanna was apparently being interviewed on a dull, grey Pinewood backlot they used as a television sewer, as she was being bound and gagged for the eighth take.)

'This is nothing', she said, dabbing a split lip, 'to the two days I spent jumping 30 times into a slimy green pond'..."
----------------------------------------------------

Looks like that B&G sequence never aired but it's interesting to read about multiple takes and split lips.

Lame scenes

You brought up a good point that I'd never thought about before. The omission of a scene, or a lame DiD scene, may not necessarily be the "fault" of dumb writers, sloppy directors, or editors that left the "good parts" (such as the never-aired Joanna Lumley "Avengers" b&g scene) on the cutting room floor.

I remember that the original "Raiders of the Lost Ark" scene in the street bazaar with Indiana Jones squaring off against the swordsman had been written as a lengthy, intricately choreographed duel of sword vs. bullwhip. Harrison Ford pointed out that it was over 100 degrees, and that the cast, film crew and the dozens of extras could leave the desert a day early if he simply shot him. As we know, Steven Spielberg agreed.

Fortunately, no shortcuts were taken on Karen Allen's memorable b&g scene in Belloch's tent.

Lumley was gagged on the show, with a lemon. I'd better thats the scene in question, and the writer just used the B&G line. I doubt whole epsiodes of the show exist (or even scenes) that havent aired or got out some other way.

This is actually untrue. Karen Allen's delectable gag scene was indeed truncated. The original screnplay called for her being led to the Well of Souls while bound and gagged.
The gag scene in the tent was humorous and enjoyable, but the original screenplay called for her being bound and gagged for a lengthier period of time.

24 - west coast update
Nothing for any of the women of 24 tonight. But...

In the previews for next week's show it looked like Kate (Sarah Wynter) probably had her hands tied behind her, judging by her body position. No ropes or gags were shown.

Guardian - anything pop tonight?
I just now realized I forgot to tape the Guardian tonight. I saw a preview today that said a stalker was after Wendy Moniz. Can anyone here say if there was a scene with her tonigth? Thanks!

Thanks for the info on the original screenplay. Much as I would've liked the (still) lovely Karen Allen with a longer Gag screentime, I would support Spielberg on the alteration.

I picture Marion Ravenwood as a feisty, resourceful woman (e.g., her escape attempt based on drinking Belloch under the table); the sort that an Indiana Jones could relate to as a soulmate. So a clip of her being marched b&g'd would detract from that characterization. Then too, there would've been no particular reason to gag her. Dr. Jones didn't tell her he'd be in the Well of Souls. So who else to call out to?--the U.S. consulate was probably only a couple of hundred miles away.

Just happened to catch the last 30 minutes by accident, and no, there was nothing. Show ended with a guy that looked like Corey Feldman furious with Moniz over some case. They play this show like a soap, so something may develop down the line if he resurfaces.

The guy who confronted her in the parking garage wasn't a bad guy, but they took out a restraining order on him anyway. This could be one of those cases where they lock the good guy up and the bad guy is still after her. Let's hope so. Loved Wendy's scene in "Guiding Light" but would like to see another.

Aguilera at Salon.com
salon.com has a daily gossip column by a writer named Amy Reiter, called "Nothing Personal." Here's a fascinating entry from 12/7:

Talk about stripped.

Just a few scant (wet) threads, and occasionally her own hands, come between Christina Aguilera and complete nudity in the January issue of Maxim.

In fact, she'll have us all know, she likes to be naked. A lot.

"At home I walk around all the time in just panties or whatever ... The skimpiest things I have are the cutest little pasties with tassels," she shares in the randy men's mag. "They go with a sailor outfit -- it's so cute!"

And if you think that sounds kinky, check out what Aguilera has to say about her sexual predilections.

"I like to experiment," she says. "It gets boring otherwise."

That extra "r" in "Dirrty" just might stand for "rough."

"Sometimes, when I'm in the mood, I like to wrestle around and get really aggressive," she tells the magazine. "That's why makeup artists hate me -- because I'll show up to shoots all bruised and whatnot. I like to play rough. Handcuffs are fun."

And a gag might be nice, too.

---

I think most of us here would agree.
