Special New Year update
Happy New Year, DiD lovers! To celebrate, these next two super-sized updates will feature some of the best TV scenes of 2002. (Some folks say it wasn't a good year for scenes, but I say y'alls is getting spoiled.)

This week, let's hear it for Adrienne Frantz in The Bold And The Beautiful, Stephi Lineburg, Marianne Hagan, and Bailey Slattery in Law And Order: Criminal Intent "Homo Homini Lupis," Alison Sweeney and Lauren Koslow in Days Of Our Lives, Gigi Edgley in Farscape "John Quixote," Allison Mack in Smallville "Obscura," Sarah Mutch in Special Unit 2 "The Wish," Arija Bareikis In Without A Trace "Pilot," Elisha Cuthbert in 24 "9:00PM-10:00PM," and (not shown) Theresa Russell in Glory Days "No Guts No Glory."

New features
Taking advantage of the day off today, I added something to help people learn proper netiquette, as it seems some are having trouble with it.

When making replies, ratio of quoted material to new material must be less than 75%. I think that is sufficiently generous for most purposes. It means that sometimes people will have to put a bit more work into the post, rather than just posting "me too" or the equivalent. When the post is not satisfactory, it will tell you what the ratio is so you can adjust. Adding stupid stuff to pad the post is likely to irritate me.

Further, the posting routine will (should) detect when the new material is posted before the quotes. I have pointed out in the past that this is bad because it destroys normal reading order on posts, and most importantly, I don't like it. Blank lines don't affect it.

Far from being too confining, this is actually a benefit to all. Rather than me deleting posts after the fact, now the system will alert you that your post is not correct and give you a chance to fix it right then.

This saves me from having to delete posts, and you the user from having otherwise acceptable posts removed simply for violations of netiquette. It also helps those who accidentally hit the carriage return after their name in a reply and post a whole post of quotes. This will catch it and you can zip back and finish.

As with any new feature, let me know if anything looks wonky.

General Hospital: Vanessa Marcil marathon
Today starting 11AM, SoapNet is offering 11 General Hospital episodes starring vixen Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil) on its "Brenda, Brenda, Brenda!" marathon.

The Scene Database lists a few GH scenes to Marcil's credit. No doubt she's also on the 2003 Wishlist for more than a few of us.

24?
Has anybody been watching this season's episodes of "24"? I haven't myself, but in thos week's TV Guide it has a "what you've missed so far this season" article & it mentioned that in the 4-5 pm hour, "Kate" (the delectible Sarah Wynter) was kidnapped. Has this lead to anything bondage-wise? I haven't heard anything about it so far.

So far, you haven't missed anything. Sarah was kidnapped in the last episode (a rather forgettable chloro scene). 24 has been on hiatus for the holidays and starts back up next week. From the promos, I don't think the kidnapping is going to lead to much. However, I still enjoy the show regardless.

Gloom-o-vision
I've noticed, from Raffish's vidcaps, that an awful lot of TV scenes are filmed in "gloom-o-vision", a term I saw on here a while ago to describe scenes that over-use darkness for dramatic effect.

I happen to have a graphics card (GeForce3 Ti 200) which has a built-in feature to affect the colors onscreen. You can brighten colors, apply gamma correction, change contrast, or even use "digital vibrance", which tends to make colors more, well, vibrant.

It's a small start. Though one trick I used to use before was to take caps from the vidclip and mess with them individually in IrfanView.

Anyone else know of other ways to deal with "gloom-o-vision"?

Kelly Ripa Repeated Scene
On Friday Jan 3rd edition of Live With Regis & Kelly
will be a repeat;with the Kelly Ripa scene.In brief,it
is themed Hunky Husbands and each guy shows his talent.
A fireman shows a rigging talent and Kelly says "I Love
When A Man Brings His Own Rope" and Kelly keeps alluding
in a fun way yeah I haven't tried this before wink, wink.

It is a fun scene and Kelly is very good natured about getting tied up and she is wearing sandals.

Hilary Duff
At 1 am EST tonight Disney Channel will be repeating the Lizzie McGuire episode where Hilary Duff gets wrapped up in plastic wrap while wearing a skirt. It's her only restraint so far in her career.

I would still put Jill Hennessy at the top of my wish list for actresses that have a chance at a scene based on their shows/movies. Ashley Judd would also be up there. On the soaps, Rebecca Budig and Erin Torpey (Jessica on OTTL) would top that list.

Did anyone else catch the promos for "Crossing Jordan" and "Alias" during the football games the last two days? Be warned: "Alias" has a guy being tape-gagged on Sunday and "Crossing Jordan" has Jordan's dad tied up as bait for Jordan by guest star Michael T. Weiss.

That makes both of Jill Hennessy's male leads getting tied up this season and nothing for her. As for Michael Weiss, he couldn't even gag Andrea Parker on "The Pretender", so I'm not expecting anything good from him as a bad guy.

Two more items
Forgot to remind anyone interested that the Michelle/Carmen storyline ends on "Guiding Light" on Thursday. Probably won't lead to anything with Michelle, but with no SoapNet on CBS shows, it might be good to record since it's only one shot at those shows.

Also, the Natasha Henstridge brief gag scene on "She Spies" will be aired this weekend in syndication. I added it to the alerts.
