In other words, great chance she'll be bound and gagged at some point during Day 4. |

Tuesday December 21 07:47:42 2004 sherlock holmes and the case of the silk stockings |
this BBC TV movie airs in the UK on Boxing Day.Rupert Everett is a lame Holmes but he is set against a bondage and foot fetishist who ties the girls hands in front, knees and then gags them by stuffing their stockings down their throats ( thus making the gag invisible for the most part).
This happens twice..their is a chloro scene too. |

I am editing the bondage scenes onto one tape that I will begin offering for sale/trade in late January. And Max, I second what jenni and Brian R. have told you. Lahue's book, despite its title is an overall look at silent serials, with just a few relevant pics (Arline Pretty-- yep, I know-- in A Woman in Grey'') was the best of these. I'll fire up the scanner after the holidays and post it. |

Yesterday Caroline Brady was cuffed in front for the entire episode with leg cuffs on in a few scenes and today another older character spent the entire episode in handcuffed with hands behind her back. Todays woman was wearing a hallipinia suit the whole time. |
Tuesday December 21 15:26:11 2004 Howdy Doody?? |
While braving the crowded Best Buy today, I ran across a 4 DVD set called the "New Howdy Doody Show". It was apparently a syndicated revival of the 50's series produced in the late 70's that lasted for 130 episodes.
Anyway what caught my eye was a new cast member called "Happy" who appears to be a cute college age girl. I think she can best be described as "Doodyliscious". The stories listed on the back seem to have a mystery theme such as a phantom in the studio or a mad scientist replacing Clarabel with a "bionic clown". Another involves a magic contest. Apparently the stories played out over the course of a week and each dvd contains 5 color episodes. Judging from the stills on the box, it was done in the same primitive style of the original, simple set with a studio audience. Does anyone have any recollection of a scene in this show? I know it's an extreme long shot but stranger things have happened. Frankly, I consider myself somewhat of an authority on classic tv and I've never even heard of this remake. |

She is not going to be a regular. Too bad. I read "she joins the cast" but maybe that's what they meant, a few episodes. Still, with the "24" track record, plenty of time for a scene. |
Tuesday December 21 17:33:47 2004 Gag testing? |
One of the more implausible aspects of tie-up scenes in film and TV drama is the confidence with which villains, or heroes in a good cause for that matter, gag damsels in the sure "knowledge" that it will be effective.
Where, for instance, did they learn that a cloth tied loosely over, or thinly into, the mouth, will ensure near-complete silence? "We'll tie her up and tie a cloth over her mouth - that works every time." "How d'you know?" "I saw it in a movie." "Hmmm... Not so sure. I know! We'll get some of that silver duct tape. That'll hold anything." "But what about her poor delicate lips? Can't we put a bit of paper between them and the tape? That way, it won't pull no skin off, and she still can't make a sound." "Aw, no need for that, really. I mean, when they pull the tape off in the movies, it comes off dead easy. Never pulls her lips with it, yet when it's on it holds 'em together a treat! No way she can get it off." "I don't trust them movies. What if she yells the place down the second we're out the door? Maybe we better try a few different gags on Velma here before we do the job. See what works and what don't." "You joiks ain't tyin' me up! Lay one hand on me and I'll scrMMMMPHHH!" How come we never see a scene like that? It would be perfect for a comedy caper - a succession of different ties and gags on a cute moll doing her utmost to get free, and all absolutely mainstream, family entertainment. And we nuts would be happy to see the real damsel finally get a treatment that looked effective. How about it, film and TV people? The closest I've seen to such a scenario was the ep of "Prisoner: Cell Block H" in which the Governor and her assistant worked off two or three different cloth gags, their kidnapper trying hard to find something that would stay on. Brown duct-type tape seemed to work in the end, but without stuffing and wrapping even that was a fudge. |

How about it, film and TV people? ---- Sounds like a chance to test several more "Celluloid myths" for Discovery Channel's "Mythbusters" Adam and Jamie! Especially since this season they've added two female builder assistants to the show. Seriously though, you're right in that applying the "Scientific method" would be an entirely logically fit for several plotlines. I'm thinking of a twist to the gang of thieves who'll attempt a heist against a timelock -- so they'll need to time to the second how long they need to bind & gag the employees as part of their time & motion study. And if their first practice run puts them 30 seconds over, maybe one gang member could suggest using handcuffs instead of rope or tape instead of handkerchiefs, etc. for their 2nd runthru. |

I think she is a real hottie. I agree with a previous poster too that she actually pretty funny as well. I usually find female comics freaking annoying. Anyways, I think her nice soft lips coulds use a white cleave gag. Maybe the "24" writers can pull this off. If any creative team has gotten it done these last few years, it is these guys. |

Tuesday December 21 20:05:25 2004 CSI: Miami Catches Fire! |
The above headline is for an article in the December 26 - January 1 TV Guide magazine.
"Do we we time for one more sweeps story?... CSI: Miami is turning up the heat in February with another 90-minute installment, this time revolving around a fire in the Everglades. A source close to the show tells [Michael Ausiello] that the big-budget episdoe also features a prison break by one of Miami's most infamous killers and the kidnapping of a major Scene-stealer..." |

I'd love to see Sofia Milos in a new scene, but since she did a quick one on "Caroline in the City," I guess I'd vote for Emily Proctor first. |

At least part of the filming was done in Bucks County, Pennsylvania in areas that would now be considered Philadelphia suburbs. There's a tourist train called the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad that points out locations used for filming. I haven't been on the train, nor have I seen the movie other than thru vidcaps, but supposedly they point out the location where she was tied to the tracks. There's a trestle called "Pauline's Trestle" Below is a link to the railroad's website which includes the line "The train will take you along the same historic route that was filmed in the 1914 movie series Perils of Pauline." Google search term combination +"Perils of Pauline" +"New Hope" brings up a number of sites with info about the connection between the train, the flick, and the damsel-in-distress. |

There are some traits that many have said is required for a scene to become an all-time great one of which is an effective gag. Myself, I can live without the gag as long as the wrists bondage is realistic but that's what makes each of us unique. Some think the SIGNY for us is like the Oscars is to movie studios, however I can recall incidents where several would disagree with the results of both award systems. The point is we're all different, a really bad scene to one individual may be the holy grail for someone else and that's OK. |
