I just watched the miniseries on VHS last weekend, and there was absolutely no bondage whatsoever for the lovely Laura Linney. It is possible that the section of the novel in which she's bound and gagged was excised entirely from the television program; movie and television versions of literary works rarely adhere completely to the versions in print. |

| Can't remember if this was mentioned before.
In the director's commentaries, he states that both women were tied to the chairs, gagged, and blindfolded for about half an hour before they actually started filming the scene in which the mother was killed. He wanted them to be unaware of exactly what was going on, and that they were real troopers throughout. He also stated that in the later scene where the young kidnapper tries to comfort Hillary, that she was kept blindfolded for awhile just so he could film her pupils reacting to the light. |

As he's making his point, she justs sits there and nods her head in agreement and goes "mmmmpppff", "mmmmpppfff." Great stuff. Wish all the movies with DiD scenes had these kind of extras. Now there's one director who tried to do a damsel scene realistically. |

Yep, her comment "I thought you'd never ask!" when the host says "okay Mrs. Stearns...hands behind the pole!". Also, I liked the post-interview moment when she says "honey, I've been handcuffed before...that was nothing!" I"d say ol' Mr. Stearns has his hands full with her!!! It was nice seeing all 3 ladies tied to the poles at the same time (no guys were tied), but I wonder what happened to the footage in the previews that was shown several times in the weeks before the show began, showing at least one of the ladies (looking back now, I think it was Nicole Eggart) tied with her hands sorta above her head, elbows bent. Maybe that was for in case the contest went differently & she didn't get banished (alternate footage maybe??). |
