Ain't that the truth. :) Since there have been two "Hunter" episodes with scenes in the past couple of days, I did my usual scan-through last night. One was where Kramer played a "rock star" complete with really goofy 80's hair. I started thinking about all the other professions that people like she and Charlie's Angels and such used to jump into at the drop of a hat (with no prior skill or training at those professions) and I just kinda laughed to myself at how silly it seemed.

Later last night I was watching "Hercules and the Moon Men". Lame-o-rama. :) But in a way, lame is good. Lame + bondage = melodramatic "damsel in distress" scenes... whereas gritty realism + bondage often produces scenes that are more unsettling than enjoyable (IMO).

So, here's to stupidity in the media. ;)

BTW... last week I posted some vid clips on my site and I creamed my host with 6+ gigs of bandwidth usage in a single day! But I want to do videos, so right now my site is stripped of all archive content. I'm mostly trying to create a controlled situation with which to detect the impact of the vids.

Not to mention, lame + bondage = longer scenes with (usually) good lighting and lingering close-ups on the damsel.
gritty realsim + bondage = "artistic" direction: weird, dim lighting; "arty" angles (nostril shots, etc); quick, disjointed cuts; more close-ups of the back rather than the front; etc. Everyting except nice clear lingering shots of the damsel.

Three cheers for stupidity in the media:

Once again life snatches the brass ring from my hands. Here we have my favorite fantasy, tiny creature ties up and gags an adult woman, and it has to be UGLY CATHY! Why oh why couldn't the cartoonist use BLONDIE or THE HOT MOM FROM FAMILY CIRCUS! NOT FAIR!

Yea, but you probably have "memories'' of NHL hockey going on all winter, with playoffs people in the US actually cared about. That hoax has been exposed oo.

As for the 24-hour "All Bondage Channel'' (ABC) that we had growin' up, your attempt to be kind to the young'uns won't fly. They know about "T.J. Hooker,'' "Charlie's Angels,'' "Dynasty,'' "The Rookies,'' even daytime soaps like "Ryan's Hope.''
IT WAS better then. I had more hair and a cooler car too.

Alias
No mentions of Alias last night? Probably because it was just another crap chair tie, mean interrogator... And another thing worth warning bad guys about--remove wrist watches, keys, belts, etc. if you know your damsel is a spy. Practically anything could contain a laser or a mini-knife. Probably best to strip her down to her undies before tying.

Sunset Beach
Talking about old, and not-so-old shows, that might be somewhat trashy reminded me of "Sunset Beach." It went off the air just about 5 years ago and, like many Aaron Spelling series/soaps, featured its share of gorgeous actresses...on occasion, in bondage. Among those who got the "full treatment" were shapely, teary-eyed Christina Chambers near the end (not much if anything when she later played Jaclyn Smith but SB took care of her), Kam Heskin and Lisa Guerrero-Coles. And maybe one of the funniest scenes ever, Sarah Buxton on a bed over a few episodes by an ex-lover. Her indifferent, scheming husband then walks in and tells the frantic maid, "Never mind about that." SB did miss out on Shawn Batten, IIRC she got her hands tied in front (again near the end) yet her large chest and pouty face really needed the full treatment. Krissy Carlson and Cristi Harris also never got around to it, guess even a Spelling show can't have everything!

The scene will 99% likely be on 'Smackdown' since the whole plot line of Kurt/JBL/Big Show revolves around it throughout the show.

Hopefully she'll be gagged (which would be a first after all the putzes they've had)

Trends 2005
I wouldn't get too discouraged about recent negative movie and TV trends discussed here lately; I think there's hope for a lot of good stuff coming down the road.

For one, the realism trend means more realistic scenes and I like realism. DID imagery is still not considered overly violent (too violent to show) and is not considered too sexual (perverted or poronograhic) in mainstream media; that's great. The imaginary, dream sequence, psychic vision thing is big now, i.e. Lost, Medium, Missing, Dead Zone; and many others show flashbacks and visions all the time and many of them are DID related.

Horror, mystery, and suspense thrillers are more popular than ever and continue to make big money (Saw, White Noise). Here's another possibility: it has been so long since there has been a kidnapping story like The Collector, where the story is about the captive experience, that there has to be one on the horizon.

Soaps continue to be good, especially Spanish soaps. The 60's, 70's boom thing is overrated; for example, I don't remember much from foreign markets showing up in those days, but now with the internet and people like JL and htf we see scenes on the web that were impossible to see two decades ago or that would never come here in video anyway (because they're TV shows, not films). Sure, some are small windows and low quality, but with DVD recorders and HDTV now becoming commonplace, how long can it be before broadband is everywhere and everything is high quality? I record on DVD RW from a satalite and it all looks like the original on playback. Yes, internet movies are a bit weak now, but with so many companies scrambling to change that, it will surely come soon.

Of course some trends are frustrating and hard to take, but that will always be the case with a proclivity like this one. I mean, there has to be a way for gray duct tape to phase out in popularity; I have seen some white duct around so you never know. And how can there not yet be a reality show with fake abductions, or fantasy role play that would involve DID... it would be a huge ratings winner. Anyway, my 2 cents.

Exactly. They did show her tied wrists, but I think it was cable ties and she was out of them in a couple of minutes, with the thugs in the room. But good dialogue as usual from Garner.

Thug: "What's your name?"
Sydney: "Ima."
Thug: "Ima what."
Sydney: "Ima...going kick your ass."

Also, "Electra" opens on Friday. Not much publicity on this one, but worth a look I'm sure.

Notice that all the Aaron Spelling shows used the "kidnapped girl who the heroes find with the help of a psychic" once during the series? "T.J. Hooker" was the only one with non-bondage, IIRC. Can't remember if "The Rookies" or "S.W.A.T" or "Strike Force" used that storyline, but "Mod Squad," "Starsky & Hutch," "Vega$," "Charlie's Angels" did.

Perhaps one thing we can agree on that WAS better back then is that TV shows actually showed their closing credits (so viewers could see what actrees played the damsel) rather than running a trailer for another show with the closing credits run simultaneously but confined to a tiny sliver of the screen.

nothing yet after 1 hour, but Joy just headed off out of the locker room for her match against Amy as it went to commercial. If there's going to be a tie up scene for her, it should be very soon (ie, the 1:10 mark for you left coasters).

I think it was rope, and it looked like a good job,not just one or two wraps. The laser watch was a nifty gadget and if you noticed, she missed the rope and got her hand for just a split second - she tried to hide the pain in her expression and then went back to work weakening the rope so she could pull them apart and kick ass, as promised. :-)

About time indeed. The ropework looked pretty decent given TV standards. I especially liked the way they put the cleave gag under her hair. Not bad at all.

Trivia question for all you wrestling marks. What was the last woman to be shown tied up and gagged on WWF(E) television? Hint: It was on Sunday Night Heat.

West Coast Alert: WWE Smackdown
Hi All. Major alert for west coasters regarding WWE Smackdown wrestling program. I only caught the last few minutes and missed taping the scene but here's a heads up for anyone interested because the scene is hot.

Probably some set up during the show but the scene appears to have happened in the last 15 minutes. A limo pulls out and it is discovered a wrestler's girlfriend is in the trunk. The trunk is opened and a super busty brunette in a tight tank top is tied wrists in front, and cleave gagged w/ black cloth. Good mmphs and wriggling. She is lifted out of trunk and untied, gag last.

Excellent scene worth taping if you can. For those of us who missed it I bet a recap will reair on Velocity this Saturday.

Smackdown airs 8:00pm - 10:00pm on Spike TV.
Velocity airs 11:00pm on Spike TV.

Whew...okay, composure regained. Joy was found tied hand & foot (hands in front) and cleave gagged with a dark blue scarf. A couple nice close-ups. As is typical for this overly melodramatic at times show, Kurt Angle, who opens the trunk (the car was parked in the middle of the arena, outside the ring, so it was nice & well-lit), calls for medics before untying her, so we get a fairly long scene of her in the trunk. Sounded like some mmmphhh-ing, but with crowd nioses, a bit hard to make them out. The "medics" pull her out after untying her wrists, but don't ungag her (and Kurt made no move to remove the gag either!) until she's placed onto a gurney and an oxygen mask (!) placed over her face. A welcome scene for this major-hottie-infested-show-who-all-manage-to-avoid-any-type-of-bondage program!
Now hopefully Big Show (Joy's significant "other" on the show) will seek revenge on JBL & kidnap Amy Weber!!!!!

I will guess Luna Vachon. Since then Lita and Chyna have had scenes but sans gags. As mentioned, about eight male wrestlers have been tied and gagged on various WWE shows in the last three years or so.

Whoa! I almost knew that nobody would have gotten that one. Good job!

I had high hopes that Stephanie McMahon would get the treatment when they did the "Crazy Brock" angle about a year ago, but alas, Zach Gowen did the putz job.

The closest that Stephanie McMahon has (to my knowledge) was several years ago when the Undertaker kidnapped her and cuffed her to his cross-like symbol with no gag. She was "saved" by Stone Cold Steve Austin during a black wedding ceremony type of act.

Someone has said supposedly there's un-aired footage of Stephanie and her mother (Vince's wife) Linda hogtied from a behind-the-stage scene but I haven't seen proof of it yet.

I also recall she was on the Howard Stern show recently where the topic of bondage came up and she said something to the effect that she's tried it but didn't like it.
