Wednesday February 02 00:23:00 2005 could you help me recall this scene...... |
I remember a scene where a woman is standing cuffed in front with a black tape gag. I think there were caps on Steve's old site of the scene. I'm pretty sure it came from a sci fi show like first wave or something like that. thanks |

I'm flashing on it being out of the UK, but I'm not certain. My sense is that it is (or was) a police drama. That's as far as I can take it ... sorry. |

"Boney" (sp)is a 26-ep series from 1972, about the exploits of half-Aboriginal Detective Inspector Bonaparte. I saw some eps in the UK, but sadly missed the one described. > series "Bony" starring Cameron Daddo as an > outback detective - unfortunately didn't catch it The series with Cameron Daddo first aired in 1972. "Finally, mention should be made of a 1993 Grundy production titled Bony, with Cameron Daddo in the title role. In the pilot episode Daddo played a descendant of the original Detective Bonaparte of the novels, but following protests from Aboriginal groups, the role was modified for the series and he became simply a white man who once lived with Aboriginals. Partly financed by German interests, the only relevance to Upfield’s novels was reduced to use of the name - it proved to be a very average, mostly suburban police show, with incongruous scripts and an amorphous central character. It has absolutely no connection with the 1971-73 Fauna series, which remains an excellent television interpretation of Arthur Upfield’s work." |

I bought one of Tim Smith's videos a few years ago with spanish DiD's and I was intrigued by the Que Chicas! segments. I've searched before for more info about the show but my lack of espanol stopped me. The show looked very campy with zombies, aliens, etc... That would be cool to find a DVD or some station where there are repeats for it. Muchos gracias. |

The script says simply that the villain brings the DinD out of the washroom 'bound and gagged' so it's up to the director how she's tied up. I've seen her hands tied in front and gagged with duct tape. |

Brian R wrote:
> (unsigned poster) wrote: > > > Anyone know why it's a repeat? > > Lots of repeats this week, Feb sweeps begins Thurs. Hey Brian, I really want to understand TV programming but I'm confused. Smallville tonight is a new first run episode (I think); Lost looks like a repeat (I think). If sweeps begin Thur. how does that impact reruns; and why is Smallville first run but others not? Does "sweeps" mean more repeats or more reruns? There really doesn't seem like any consistent logic at play to me. Sorry for being so dumb about programming, but it's not my forte. |
Wednesday February 02 19:25:57 2005 can someone help? |
Could someone explain the process for making caps from a DVD? I'm trying to do it by pausing the DVD on my computer, pushing the "print screen" button, and pasting into MSPAINT. However, when I paste, it does this weird thing where when I try to scroll up/down or side/side it's like the cap stays still while the rest of the screen scrolls. I've been messing with it for a while and I can't seem to figure out how to fix this. Can anyone offer some advice? Thank you!

Ok. > If sweeps begin Thur. how does that impact reruns; and > why is Smallville first run but others not? Does > "sweeps" mean more repeats or more reruns? > There really doesn't seem like any consistent logic at > play to me. Most TV series produce about 24 episodes per year. There are 52 weeks in the year. Discounting about 14 weeks in the summer, that leaves 38 weeks to fill. That means in-season reruns. In addition, there are certain 4-week periods set aside for special ratings consideration. These are calles sweeps, they set local ad rates. There are sweeps that begin around February, May and November. You generally won't see reruns during these regular-season sweep periods, although you may get some special showings of popular shows in place of failing ones. It's a bad sign when your favorite show is pulled from sweeps. Sweeps always being on Thursday. Tomorrow begins the February sweeps. Outside of the sweeps, it's up to the networks when to run their repeats. So the nets ran some repeats, some new episodes. Storyline shows like Lost don't like to stagger their repeats. People get confused. So they normally go with a block of new shows, then a bunch of repeats. More episodic ones don't mixing things up. This is especially true of sitcoms. |

Blair (Cassie DePaiva) will be tied up on tomorrow's episode. Previews showed a quick shot of her with her hands rope tied in front. |

Sarah Clarke was chloroformed a little past the halfway point of tonight's episode. Although she later saw some rope, she was not tied up at all and was not gagged.
Previews for next week showed Lois Lane (Erica Durance) getting abducted, then apparently unconscious laying under water. No bonds shown, but I would not be surprised if she were tied down before being submerged. No gag in the preview, so I would doubt that she'll get gagged. |

Wednesday February 02 21:37:13 2005 Las Vegas ("Can You See What I See?") |
The TV Guide magazine description for the "Las Vegas" Monday, February 7 episode: "After Ed has staffers switch jobs, pit boss Danny notices a suspicious roulette player; MARY AND SAM surveil a scam; Nessa runs Mystique; and Delinda sits for Ed at a commission meeting with the mayor."
I didn't see the previews for the Feb 7th episode -- any hints of Mary and Samantha blundering thru an attempt at tailing a suspect(s)? With Danny on job rotation, it sounds like it'd be up to Mike for any rescues that might be needed. |

Wednesday February 02 21:46:31 2005 Unexpected Gem in "The Decoy" |
I just had a chance to watch my tape from the wee hours of T.J. Hooker's "The Decoy", and I wondered if anyone else caught the gem of handgagging scene not mentioned in the DB entry for that episode.
The character's name is "Beth Arnold", and she befriends "Stacey" when the latter moves into an apartment in a swingers complex as a decoy to nab the serial killer. About halfway into the episode, "Beth" walks into an underground garage and is promptly accosted by the killer in question. Two superb, tho brief, handgagging scenes ensue before she meets her unfortunate end. Did I mention that she wears a very short, very flattering white tennis dress? Well, she does. My problem is that I misjudged the amount of time on my tape, so it ran out before the cast listing appeared. Further, epguides.com does not list cast for T.J. Hooker episodes. So, did anyone out there catch "Beth's" real name? If so, you're welcome to use the info above to update the DB entry. Or you can reply to this message with the requested info, and I will submit the correction under my UserName & Password. |

"Remains to Be Seen" (From the 50s) has a sort of scene--the villain ties the sleeves of the damsel's robe together behind her, trapping her wrists, then gags her with a handkerchief tied in place with a necktie. One of the great disappointments of my life was when the scene didn't make it into the movie with June Allyson.
There is a scene in "Man of La Mancha" where the woman Don Quixote sees as "Dulcinea" is raped while he is nearby, oblivious. In the version I saw she was gagged, but not tied, so he wouldn't hear her. There have been versions without the gag, and I don't think that one made it into the movie either. |

McBain wrote:
> Could someone explain the process for making caps from a DVD? The reason why the image stays still when you move the other windows around is because your player is using an "overlay" to display the video in that portion of the screen. When you move the overlay window elsewhere then all you see is what is inside that window. Some players have the ability to not use overlay and contain a slider or checkbox to turn off "acceleration" or to not use "directdraw". Once you configure it to draw onto the screen using software (a little slower, the video may stutter while playing) then you can use the print-screen feature to capture it. |

There's a play called "Vladivostok Blues," about a Mexican soap star kidnapped by Russians. Or something.
It's been a while since I saw it. But yeah, she's brought in tied up and gagged. (I am also not familiar with Jenni's site...) |
