I think those two were spoonin' with the Duke boys early on. The IMDb might yield something ... from what I saw "Maybelle", "Cindy Lou", the woman who impersonated "Officer Price", and the deputy herself were the only female speaking parts, with the last having the fewest lines, and thus would likely be the lowest on the cast list.

Pretty much what I expected, because she was forced to

So what makes a classic anyway?
hallbird wrote:

I agree completely. I suggest rather than discussing the merits (or more appropriately demerits) of each scene we broach the topic of what makes a "classic".

It's my observation that all too often one mixes the terms "scene" and "film." Drew Barrymore's "scene" in Charlie's Angels was IMO certainly above average; however, I stop short to consider the "film" a classic. The same could be said for Marissa Torme's "scene" in the "film" The Watcher.

Conversly, I would argue that Head Above Water does rank towards the top of most mainstream lists, my included. Certainly the quantity of "scenes" was plentiful, and the quality of each scene elevated the overall value of the "film."

What I tend to think are great "scenes" seem to change with time. The first time I saw Donna D'Erico's scene in Candyman III, it became my "all time" favorite. Likewise with Bridget Fonda in SWF and Jamie King in Lonestar.

However, when I think about what makes a great mainstream bondage "film", the list becomes more concrete. Head Above Water definately makes that grade. Charlie's Angels; not so much.

Bottom line is that ultimately quality, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Since subjectivity is, well, subjective, I suggest we attempt to compare apples with apples.

Oh, and one last parting thought on the so-called "best of the nineties." Anyone who professes to rank the top mainstream films from 1990-2000 without including the Wachowski Brothers' classic from 1996 doesn't merit discussion in this fine forum.

Impossible Heists
OK, it's just metaphor, but I suppose stranger things have happened:

In the March 18 issue of Entertainment Weekly, there is an ad for a new "reality" series on Court TV called Impossible Heists. The picture is a blonde rappelling down the side of a building, and the headline reads "She'd rather be tied up than tied down." Yeah, we'll see...

JONATHAN CREEK "The Wrestler's Tomb"
Watching this (or rather, the pledge break) as I type. I caught the last bit of a "scene" not mentioned: a magician's assistant mummified on stage.

Could anyone familiar with this ep give some details? Was she shown being enwraptured, any closeups of her masked face, etc.?

Thanks advanced.

Lifetime has confirmed the sophomore drama will not return for a third season. The Joely Fisher-led series is currently on hiatus from airing its second season, with six episodes still yet to air. The remaining installments then are expected to be burned off at some time later this year.

I really thought this show would score a scene when the focus shifted to Fisher snooping around in Season 2. With no DiD action, it was just a lousy show.

> it's difficult to think of a factor that could drag an otherwise excellent DiD-scene into the gutter faster than "and Shatner". :-)
----
Fortunately, all of Stacy Sheridan's DiD mis-adventures on "T.J. Hooker" were solo efforts (i.e., not involving her fellow officers). One close call was the episodes where escaping robbers shoot her partner Jim Corrigan and hold her as one of the hostages inside a church. But they didn't place her own cuffs on her (although at one point one of the hoods has "designs" on her) and Corrigan was too badly wounded to reqire restraint.

Shatner must've recognized a bit of scriptwriter deja vu: Every "Star Trek" viewer knew what it meant when Kirk, Spock, and McCoy went one way, and the red-shirted Security crewman went the other way. Similarly, T.J. Hooker viewers began to recognize there was nearly a 50% chance of a DiD-payoff whenever Stacy Sheridan went undercover by herself.

"A Deadly Vision" might not qualify, since it was a made-for-TV movie.

An under-appreciated nominee would be Alison Doody's energetic b&g scene in "Temptation" (1994).

Biff,

There are two scenes. One in each episode. The first episode is where they show the scene of the crime. The blond is found bound, gagged and blindfolded with black duct tape next to the body of her dead husband. That scene occurs in the first 15 minutes of Part 1. The second scene occurs in episode 2 where Jonathan Creek explains how she managed to kill her husband while bound, gagged, and blindfolded. I'm pretty sure this occurs near the end of the second episode.

Sorry I couldn't provide more accurate scene times. My DVR normally timestamps when the scene was recorded, but this recording doesn't have one. Here are some caps of the scene.

Thanks, Madfish ... but what I was after were the mummy scenes. There was a second one ... this time with the murder suspect as the anteBUFFY Anthony Stewart Head's magician character's assistant ... which wasn't very interesting to me. I'm assuming the first was more of the same.

You're right about the main scene times: The first pops about eight minutes in, and lasts a couple minutes or so, I'd say ... and the "recreation" scene is in the last ten minutes of Part 2.

On another note, I caught the two blinkies in the promo for MISS CONGENIALITY 2 on UNIVISION ... attractive, and for once not in a dark and depressing CSI/L&O-type setting. I don't recall the last time I archived one of those.

The Shatner factor troubles me not one whit ... for some reason, my eyes tend to focus elsewhere.

I'm hoping it is, so I can add yet another Amanda Tapping handgag scene to her already impressive list. I believe this would make 5 handgags for her?

Right on. Everyone has different tastes in bondage, damsels, scenarios and so on.

Personally, my two biggest criteria are the hottness of the damsel, and the type of bondage. I'm a gag snob, and tape is my preferred tool.

Bridget Fonda has always been one of my favorite hotties, and the tape bondage was very well done in that movie. Hence, it's my all time favorite scene.

I can't give you an exact time, but from my recollection of the ep it wouldn't be in the first third. In any event, obviously you don't have to worry about missing it before you see them in those white outfits.

Some very cool web sites

http://grouper.com/
http://s5yousendit.com/

These two web sites here could very well revolutionize the way we talk and discuss mainstream scenes from now on. IF neither of these links work, you can find them on g4tv.com and then clik over to the show screensavers and from there click on Sarah Lane's lnks and you should find it eventually, but any way here's the skimpy on these. The groper sites basically lets registerd users share any type of mdedia whether it's mucis, video or documents with no size limit. You can create groups and IM or chat with one another about what eahcother is looking at. You can download selected content from your friends or they can stream it to you. Now aside from any hardcore S&M stuff which I'm not into anyway. I'd say this pretty much puts yahoo groups to shame. The other site basically lets you send e-mail attachments up to 100MB(1GB) in size which is good for those with dial-up or who have strict limits on incoming and outgoing file sizes. You select one or more e-mail addresses, select the files you want to send and the recipient will receive a link to your files which are stored on their server so as not to take up any space in your friends' mailbox. Very cool I think. I'd recomend checking out these links to read more about them but from the looks of them this could realy shake things up.

Pacifier OMG SEE THIS MOVIE
Record number: 11223

Title: The Pacifier (2005)
Medium: Movie
Actress: Faith Ford, Brittany Snow, Morgan York

Description:

Julie Plummer(Faith Ford) has her hands tied behind her back with black rope. She is taken from the room where her kids are to an underground vault. She isn't gaggged and her legs aren't tied but there are a few decent midrange shots of her bound hands. She wears a business suit with slacks.

Zoe (Brittany Snow) and Lulu (Morgan York) are bound back to back and over the mouth gagged with black cloths. Their hands are tied behind them and their ankles are tied with black rope. Guy alert.

Zoe wears a miniskirt and flat pumps. It’s a fairly quick scene but there are a few really good shots of her emoting with her gagged face and her tied ankles are seen a few times. There is one close up of her tied hands as she frees them.

The scenes occur from approximately 1:15 to 1:22.

The tone is lighthearted but thrilling.

A++

How are they bound; behind the back or hands to the chair. Is the gag really a duct tape around the head?

Uh... it was a joke, son. :-) (This illustrates the value of the "smiley face" as a social instrument.)

Actually, the TV-guide blurb *should* have read:

-------
The Montecito hosts a Bondage Convention, with Mary (Nikki Cox) in charge, and when the models start disappearing, Samantha (Vanessa Marcil), Delinda (Molly Sims), & Nessa (Marsha Thomason) are talked into taking their places in the product displays & workshops. But they start disappearing as well! Mary is grabbed, along with BondCon organizer Buzz Kill (William Shatner), & in the final scene, Big Ed & Danny bust a ring of white slavers & rescue all the ladies... and Shatner.

Well that was a new one on me.

I just caught a 30 second promo for McLeods Daughters
on "WE" (Womens network) and it had a mother talking on the phone with a friend while watching the show, you can hear some mmmmpphhing in the background and the mother walks over off screen and then the camera pans over to show she has tied and gagged her family so they will leave her alone to watch the show.

unfortunatly it mostly shows the husband and young son, but does have a teen age daughter in the foreground. the daughter is straining very realisicly against thee duct tape that is holds her to the chair and gags her..good emoting too.

WE is basically lifetime and the commercail I saw was actually on VH1 during "Most Wanted Bodies"...but obviously the commercail was put together by WE. That network is all about the bondage...

Tripper:

I'm very familiar with the story, yes. The graphic novel is one of my three favorites, and I've read it repeatedly. I won't get into the storyline in any depth (not relevant here), but I will comment on the bondage aspect:
First -- **SPOILER ALERT** -- if Portman is playing the female lead, and IF they follow the book religiously, she will eventually be seized and interrogated by what is apparently the secret police. No gags whatsoever, but frequent blindfolding and handcuffs, with nudity. In the book, this is deadly serious and accompanied by both physical and psychological torture, and thus shouldn't make good scene fodder.
On purely aesthetic grounds, though, I'd strongly urge you to read this book, first chance you get.

I saw this commercial twice tonite on WE, both times during the closing credits of MacLeod's Daughters, and both times it was in a reduced form at the upper right corner of the screen as the credits rolled below. Has anyone seen the commercial full-screen? When I saw it the little image was so small you couldn't really make it all out.

Also, during the credits it said that season 2 of MacLeod's daughter would air next week, I guess in marathon form. I wonder if they will continue to show all seasons...aren't the couple bondage episodes in the later seasons (like 4 or so)?
