Major:

I had the pleasure of seeing a production of "Psycho BEach Party" at a community college, many years ago (in fact, the same day that I watched Nicole Kidman get the full treatment from the Riddler). The production was cheap and then some, but the actress DID get tied to a bed and tightly gagged, and looked pretty durn hot in her swimsuit as well. One up side of the cheap setting: the cast was handling ticket sales beforehand, so I got to chat them up before the show started, including our eventual bindee.
So note to everyone: if this shows up at a theater near you, go for it!

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Perhaps it's an error that they'll correct. I've noticed watching these the footage isn't exactly modern day. "Hooker" reruns haven't aired in the U.S. in about 15 years before A&E picked up the shows. Maybe that episode was damaged some way in storage, or maybe someone stole it! Sounds like a mystery for Veronica Mars.

"Bloodsport" Part 2 will air on Saturday, May 14.

Batman Forever DVD
The Kindly One wrote:

This reminds me. There is a special edition DVD of Batman Forever coming out this summer to tie in with the new movie. There is supposed to be about 30 minutes of footage that was filmed and in the original cut that was trimmed to give it a lighter tone. These scenes are in the novelization. One of them is a longer scene of Nicole Kidman being injected with a needle while riddler has her chained on the couch.
Theres also supposed to be more missing footage for Batman and Robin (ugh) involving the death of Bruce Waynes girlfriend by Poison Ivy, but no idea if it's DiD related or if they are planning to restore it on the new DVD.

curious
I hope this is not too far off topic, I was just curious. I was in Best Buy the other day, and it seemed like every single TV series is now available on DVD. And anything that isn't yet probably will be if someone thinks they can make a buck on the deal. The internet now provides the possibility of almost instant caps, widely circulated. Any scenes missed pop up on DVD later. It's pretty different from some discussions I saw when I first found this site, about vcr alerts, about holy grails, about tracking down or trading for favorite scenes.

Who misses the old days and the "thrill of the hunt"/the collector's passion? Who is just as happy with the current situation of widely available and circulated caps and DVDs shared with a worldwide audience? I was just wondering about this. call me curious. hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. -val

I do know what you mean about the "thrill of the hunt", but I think on balance I like it better this way.

One specific reason for that is the "anti-alert": I can go see a new film and enjoy it on its own merits, and not sit there speculating about whether or not it might have a scene.

As I mentioned the other day, the cover to the original issue #4 of That Yellow Bastard shows Junior with a dripping syringe in his hand, though it doesn't appear in the comic at all.

I miss it. Before VCRs, my heart used to race whenever a plot got to a point where a gag scene was inevitable. Now, nothing. Not that I don't still appreciate a good scene, but the excitement level is MUCH lower.

Yes. Hopefully next season Kristen Bell will be more of a DiD. But I wouldn't count on it.

Also, she is in a Showtime movie called "Reefer Madness." I believe the movie is on at least three times tonight. No idea if there will be any DiD possibilities in that one.

captain scarlet new cgi series
Hi guys ,some of you in the UK may have seen this today on ITV ,but theere was a lengthy scene in todays captain scarlet cartoon on ITV ,it's a new computer generated Scarlet cartoon based on the gerry anderson puppet show .
Anyway plot was pretty good ,Destiny Angel was kidnapped by Capt. Black and replaced with an evil double .
When the evil double returns to the hideout Destiny is shown secured to a table and gagged with white tape .She is taunted by both Capt. Black and the double ,and there is good struggling and mmmpppphhing.
Later in the episode Capt.Scarlet is lured to the hideout by the double ,who he believes to be the real destiny,as he stands over her (feigning unconsciuosness)Capt. Black enters the room with the real destiny tied hands behind back and again tape gagged.Scarlet is forced to go to skybase accompanied by the evil double and plant a bomb there while Black and the real destiny watch on a monitor ,Destiny struggles and mmmphs all the way through this. After Black thinks the base has exploded he unties Destiny's hands and she pullls off the tape .She fights with him and the escapes .All in all good lengthy scenes .

Thanks for the info. Boy has animation come a long way. The style of the show looks like the movie that came out a few years ago "Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within".

Hey there Val
:))
I must agree that the Old days were a tad more ~Thrilling~ but I'm way happier with the way it is now. I have a feeling that before too long we will be able to get any old Soap scene any one us have heard of and wanted and maybe even impossible to get scenes like Courteney Cox from that Bronson P dog.

Thanks mostly to Brian (*Bows*) and our little fam on this forum (*curtseys*)..I've pretty much seen most "holy grails" I had and have gotten a TON of scenes I would have missed.

I think it is only Series 1 & 2 that are being released (this was announced a while ago on a TJ Hooker website), or do you know any different?

I don't think there are any good scenes until later series.

I wouldn't say I miss it Val, but DiD scenes definitly don't have the value that they used to. When I used to spend months, even years looking for a scene, it was a major catch if I found it.

> Who is just as happy
> with the current situation of widely available and
> circulated caps and DVDs shared with a worldwide

Well, I enjoy the ease because it saves me a lot of time and stress. If theres a a scene Im looking for, I usually am able to secure a good copy of it within a few months, with maybe one or two frustrating exceptions. If I miss it on TV, it's like "No biggie, maybe I'll catch it in a rerun one day"

I've also been spoiled by the availability of scenes due to the internet. 10 years ago I'd search high and low for a small, 5 second scene with no closeups. These days a 15 minute scene isn't even a major priority unless it has certain elements, and now I pass on scenes I've have killed to have if they existed 15 years ago. My whole criteria for a worthwhile scene has changed since finding this site.

If Showtime stays true the the original "Reefer Madness" film, there is no DID scenes. Having seen the original, I can't even think how they could pipe one in (pun intented).

To Valkyrie with regard to "the old days..."
I hope you don't mind my starting out by remarking that I followed the link in your post and noticed your birthdate on your website. So, young grasshopper, you want to know what it was like in "the old days," do you? Well, you've come to the right place, given that when you were born I was nearly as old as you are now.

Make no mistake about it, things are MUCH better for us today than they were in "the old days." How bitterly I remember the abuse of my childhood... waiting all week after having noted in the new issue of "TV Guide" that a favorite scene would air during a weekend late-night horror movie broadcast, only to be thwarted by my parents, siblings or-oh, the shame!-babysitter wanting to watch something else! Only one (usually black-and-white) TV set per household in those days. Home video? Still science fiction.

Yup, the "good old days" weren't all that good, and they didn't rush things getting better. I'd moved on to college before seeing a commercial-come on, baby boomers, how many of the rest of you remember this one?-about a cab driver going home after driving an all-night shift, boasting that he was going home to "watch the late show." Home video had evolved from science fiction to unaffordable extravagance. As I recall, the cheapest VCRs were about a grand, and tapes sold for something like $25 each. They recorded and played back in color, which wouldn't have helped me any even if I could have bought one-although color TVs in bigger-than-portable sizes sold for about what they do now, their actual cost was maybe three to five times today's when you take inflation into account. Portable color TVs weren't much cheaper than the bigger ones.

And how much of a chance would you have had of grabbing a coveted scene with that rig? At the most you had maybe five to seven TV broadcast channels to choose from, and then only if you lived in a big city. Cable was slow in coming, in no small part due to legal resistance from broadcasters, local governments and even Congress. Satellite TV, broadcast directly into your home? Science fiction again, at least until around the late '70s or early '80s, and then only if you could afford a monster dish and had a back yard big enough to hold it.

Eventually, though, cable won its battles and matured, the Supreme Court ruled-thank goodness!-that VCR users who taped movies off the air weren't felons, and Hollywood came to its senses and decided to join 'em if it couldn't beat 'em and the premium movie channels were born. Prices of electronic goods gradually dropped; by the time I finally broke down and popped for a VCR a good one sold for $250 and high-quality tapes were about $3. The pizza-dish satellites went up, bringing cable programming to millions beyond cable's reach-or put off by cable's prices. Finally-and, perhaps for us, most importantly-Internet access became ubiquitous, allowing us to find each other and collaborate. Hence, the existence of this site and its priceless database.

The "thrill of the chase?" Heck, it wasn't even POSSIBLE to "chase" a scene until there were multiple sources from which one could obtain it. I must have spent every spare moment of the first few weeks after buying my first VCR going through every video store in town, looking for films I hadn't seen since those late-night childhood broadcasts, or since the waning days of the drive-in movie era (one sad casualty of the rise of home video and cable). If the scene you lusted after was from a TV series, too bad unless it was in syndication and a local station bought and reran it. Oh, how many years did I pine for the imperiled, plaid-skirted Dianne Kay in that "Starsky and Hutch" episode! Thank you, DirecTV and TV Land! Thank you, thank you, thank you! And thank you, BBC America, for reminding me why I hated missing "The Avengers" all those years ago. And thank you, Ted Turner, for running "Lois and Clark" on TNT so I could see for myself what all the Internet buzz over Teri Hatcher was about, since I didn't watch the show during its network run. (By the way, Val, Noel Neill did it better-but that's neither here nor there.) TV on DVDs? Bring 'em on! The more sources the better.

Better in "the old days?" Trust me, kid, we've got it much better than we've ever had it. Enjoy it!

Old Days
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the impact 'Bondage Life' had on scene chasing.

Before BL and especially its 'Bound For Hollywood' feature, in the mid 70s there was no real way to share information about scenes from movies or TV.

If you were really lucky maybe you caught a blink and you miss it shot in a TV preview, or, even rarer, TV guide had an 1.5 inch square ad pic that showed a DID situation.

In fact, unless you had the money and connections to be into the BDSM scene, there was really no way to communicate with fellow DID enthusiasts :-(

But, overall I agree with Val, thanks to great sites like this and all the marvelous cap sites and groups, the thrill of the hunt is just not what it used to be.

I know I grew up in the information age as I got my first computer while in the 6th grade. In the 8th grade got my first 300bps modem and discovered the land of dial-up BBS's. It wasn't the internet for sure, but they did have FidoNet back then (this is before NNTP UseNet was big) and I remember there were conversations about VHS tape rental releases containing DID scenes. We'd all rush out to check out the scene but no way to keep it as several had the broadcast flag on it. That's when I decided I wasn't going to own a real TV ever again and instead watched television via a computer screen with a tuner card in the computer. :)

Right now, I wouldn't bet on it. :-(
Next season, perhaps. Still, cracking scene in the New Captain Scarlet over here yesterday.

Btw, you're lucky. In this North Wales valley, we get just four channels and no digital signal. Most of the good scenes, of course, are on the fifth channel, which we don't get. Satellite? Cable? Way too expensive. Count your blessings, dudes.
