David, I've found the zinc oxide "pink" Hy-Tape to both adhere well and be relative gentle on skin ... but it's expensive.

Deco brand decorative tape's a good deal less dear to one's wallet, and comes in black, red and white ... but I've only found it in 1 1/4" width.

Guess what also fits the above bill pretty well:

Plain ol' brown packaging tape ... as seen in numerous Japanese, HK and Euro productions, but rarely stateside in either mainstream or commercial venues.

And it's budget-friendly.

I think it depends on what you are looking for. I have done the "duct tape on jeans" trick (I even have an old piece of denim in my tool kit in case I'm unable to wear jeans) but I find that the tape doesn't stay convincingly stuck for a long shoot. I've had some of the edge problems you describe with elastoplast but

1) It really is a gag rather than just looking like one

2) The times I've had problems with it have been when on screen gagging was needed. In which case a less that 100% perfect look actually adds to the effect.

My current technique for photographic fake duct tape gag is to gag with PVC or durapore medical tape first then carefully tape over that with duct tape allowing just a few milimeters of overlap. The underlying gentle tape is then hidden and the duct tape kept clear of large areas of skin.

Re: Elastoplast: WAS: Cry Terror cover
A product that can be very cheap in the UK (sold in widths up to 2" in cut-price "pound shops") is double-sided tape with a very strong acrylic adhesive, as used on Scotch "invisible " tape.

The tape itself is usually thin, malleable tissue, but some varieties have little or no tape, the adhesive being simply printed onto the silicone backing paper. This peels off leaving a sheet of glue to which the material of one's choice can be attached. You can make custom tape gags of any shape or size in any cloth, plastic, leather or rubber.
Gurning* guaranteed!

There is often a slight residue problem, and of course the gag must be prepared in advance, but it's also very good for holding and sealing OTM gags.

* Gurning or girning is the traditional British sport of competitive face-pulling.

The Wild Card
Whilst surfing the IMDB I came across an independent 2003 film starring Barbra Alyn Woods and Hillary Tuck called "The Wild Card" (a movie not the TV series).

The synopsis reads "A Los Angeles trophy wife and her beautiful step daughter are kidnapped in Las Vegas by four gangsters with murky motives." A link to the website outlining the plot (with at least 1 interesting picture) is below.

Anyone seen this film and if so anything in it of interest?

Charmed ("Valhalley of the Dolls")

Needs to be added to the Scene Database.

Rampage (2003) & Rampage (1992)
Has anyone seen these movies?

Rampage (2003) -
"Steve Sayre and Garrett Stewart Sayre star in this thriller as Agent Steve Stone and Sergeant Jim Stone, two brothers whose assassination of a Columbian drug lord has upset his cartel. To exact revenge, the cartel plans not only to murder the brothers, but also to stage a full assault on Washington D.C. and kidnap Steve's fiance."

The plot sounds stupid enough to have a good scene.

----------------------

Rampage (1992) -

Found this write-up somewhere:

"Billy Friedkin is an unflinching filmmaker that never pulls a punch. He’ll show you things that you wish you never saw and that certainly you can never forget. The bloody crucifix masturbation scene from EXORCIST, the bridge crossing scene in SORCEROR, pretty much CRUISING in its entirety, two of the greatest car chases in film history FRENCH CONNECTION & TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A., the bound and gagged rape scene of RAMPAGE, that car/pedestrian hit in JADE..."

------

Both sound like they are worth checking out, although I could do without the rape. Can't find 'em in vid stores near me.

Mandy Moore
I just caught the Mandy Moore scene on "The Osbourne family Christmas"
(and added it to the Db)

She was very cute..too bad the scene was a joke. I've never really noticed her before (kiddypop & all)

Boy would I love to see her get a full treatment in a movie or video

You and me, both. A few years ago, I just wanted her gagged so she'd have to stop talking.

Now, though, things have changed. With all her acting roles, I'd expect some action for her in 2004 or 2005.

Stephanie Plum
Since we are on the topic of books with bondage, check out "Hard Eight" by Janet Evanovich. I just finished it,(funny book, funny series, hysterical grandmother. I've read four in the series within the last week.)and along the way, Steph and her sister get bound & gagged with duct-tape. Like I wasn't already thinking the books would make great movies.

In another book, there is also a reference to her having been naked & cuffed to a shower rod.

Re: Rampage
That bit about the Friedkin version of Rampage is interesting. I checked it out on the IMDB, and apparnetly, it never got released properly because of the bankruptcy of DeLaurentis studios. I found a reference to "tie up and gagged raped scenes in Hollywood" (said Hollywood did this all the time -- HA!) in the user comments of the movie.

It's not in our database, but that coudl be because of the lack of promotion and distribution.

I've never heard of it. Is anyone up on this film?

I think the clear dividing line you're talking about only exists in mainstream films. B level films and indie films have much less concern about being considered "porn" or "porn-ish." I've read several mainstream critics compalining that A level Hollywood films have little or no nudity, much less sex -- generally just a set of female breasts to give the movie an R rating, most of the time.

OTOH, B movies and especially indies have given us all sorts of good stuff of late. May I say, "Spun"? May I say, "Fast Sofa"? May I say "Cold Heart"? May I say "Bound"? May I say "Birthday Girl"? Etc. etc. For these movies the competition to get theater seats is so intense that they use sex and sexual bondage imagery to advance their cause very aggressively. Barring unforeseen changes, I expect this trend to continue into the future indefinitely.

The quote is forever burned into my adolescent subconscious. It is, "Gag her! Crimefighters should be seen and not heard." Why I find it so sexy, I don't know, but I do...
