featuring Mavie Hoerbiger's scene from Kommissar Rex. Thanks as always to Jay L. for the tape. Warning: dark scene = dark caps, though I tend to think that at least the middle few turned out reasonably well. |

Well, what do you know? Apple got that little hardware glitch fixed up for me faster than I was expecting, and the result is that I've got a weekend update for you guys after all before heading out to the desert. Here's Courtney Taylor in Cover Me, Andra Martin in Maverick "Thunder From The North," Hilary Salvatore in Profiler "Burnt Offerings," Brittney Powell in Renegade "Love Hurts," Kate Rodger in The Protector, and Renee O'Connor in Xena, Warrior Princess "Blind Faith."

Well, what can I say about this one that you don't already know? Best novelty episode of a brilliant series (after the Buffy musical of course)? Cameras all over the place, for a nice variety of caps? Cybill Shepherd letting you know, behind a great -- if somewhat problematic continuity-wise -- cleave gag, just how much ass she intends to kick if she ever gets untied?

[Time for the inevitable.] Who would *you* cast as Deja Thoris? :-) Actually, I was reading a fave site of mine, a series of essays by the two scriptwriters who wrote Aladdin, Shrek, Pirates of the Caribbean and a few others. One of their projects that DIDN'T pan out was ... a John Carter of Mars movie, a script based on "A Princess of Mars"! They actually had it in development, and the studio liked it a lot, but the director came in with his own team of scriptwriters and TOTALLY fucked it over, so badly that the studio deep-sixed the whole project. (They were going to have John Carter as a washed-up alcoholic and the Tharks making jokes about "John Carter of Vagina.") I actually don't think these two guys are such hot-shit writers, but they definitely know how to sell a script. Check my homepage link for the column in question. Oh, and Frank Cho is Da Man. |

Frank Cho *is indeed* da man!
I'll answer my own casting question with THREE choices, any one of which I think would make a *fine* Princess of Mars. The Princess' costume would consist of a skimpy, mostly metal bikini; various golden & bejeweled bracers, slave bracelets, chains, bangles, etc., all very "Martian" & Art Nouveau-ish; her hair would be long, straight, & gleaming black; her skin would be a dark, reddish tan; & she's have a *wicked*, exotic Bowie knife in a bejeweled sheath. In no particular order: ALI LANDRY (This could be her breakthrough role!) JOLENE BLALOCK (A little more "exotic" look.) CATHERINE BELL (She's wearing long extensions in her hair this summer, & looks very hot (although I still prefer her Major Mac bob.)) By the way, the latest chapter of my new story at Van's Fiction was just posted (URL below.) |

This alert may be null and void ... my listings have no such movie on LIFETIME's immediate schedule, and a check of the LIFETIME MOVIE NETWORK site shows no listing for it for tomorrow. Anyone have info to the contrary? |

The show is 3 for 3 so far. I don't recall any other show ever having DinD scenes in its very first three episodes. |

> > How the "Inspector Winter" got stuck on there I don't know, becuase "False Arrest" is DB #6477. (At least when I looked it up)
> > > Thanks ... I overlooked the alert heading, obviously. ------- There's a simple explanation: The "VCR Alerts" scene description is based on the DB# entered in the field; and being (at least half) human, I typed in "6447" instead of "6477". In any case, viewers should ALWAYS check their local listings. |

Friday August 22 17:05:43 2003 TV Movie |
Flipping dials on the TV last night I saw the end of a promo for a TV movie this Sunday that looks set on an airplane. The promo quickly showed a woman lying blindfolded and tape-gagged. I think it was on CBS. Did anyone else see this promo? |

I think it was on CBS. Did > anyone else see this promo? That's the long-awaited Code 11-14, delayed for more than two years due to 9-11 and the war in Iraq. It stars David James Elliott, Terry Farrell, Stephen Lang and Nanci Chambers. Don't know who the female was in the promo. The rumor was Poppy Montgomery was in this movie but don't see any mention of her on the Web site, and even if she was in it in a small role, CBS would be playing that up bigtime, so that's not likely happening. |

Checked the database about the movie on Maj John's site - Kill Crazed - and a question - is this a mainstream flick that I could look for at Blockbuster - or something really obscure that'll be a challenge to dig up ?

Thora Birch is supposed to be kidnapped by Durst and taken away to the woods. Anyone seen the video? It sounds like there should be something in it. |

Friday August 22 20:52:30 2003 Prisoner of Fashion |
For fans of fashion models in handcuffs, on pages 38 & 39 of the September 2003 issue of InStyle magazine (Salma Hayeck on the cover) there's a Kenneth Cole ad with a really cute model standing with her hands cuffed in front. It's worth a look (but not worth killing yourself in a rush to the newsstand.) I've already tried finding the image online, without success. |

The only thing close to it is shows going 3 consecutive epidsodes with scenes. The "Angeles" streak was nice b/c it gaves us all three Angels bound and gagged in one scene and followed that up with a scene with guest star Daisy Fuentes getting bound and gagged the following week. However, I must say that 1-800 Missing is great with both its quantity(3 for 3) and its quality of the scenes. A very nice handgag for the cutie pie psychic was major plus. The escape attempt of the kidnapped FBI agent was tense and thrilling. I can't wait to see what else this show throws at us...(multiple damsels perhaps?). |

But then, the book primarily concentrated on scenes w/ a gag. I am almost certain that she was tightly cleave gagged. I seem to remember the scene being done in a "Lucy" type of situation. By that, of course, comedic. If memory serves me correct.... she might have been rehearsing a scene with the tier and he took it to far. |
