Tuesday August 05 12:58:37 2003 Sword & sandal epics: Kidnappings w/ bondage |

Marriage by Abduction... (sigh} Granted, you ran the risk of being disembowled by your bride's relatives, but it *had* to be a *LOT* cheaper than all the nonsense we go through today. Even if you decided to spring for the *really expensive* prenuptial rope and an imported silk scarf for the bridal gag, what were you out? ...a goat or two? :-) -------------- Continuing the April 21 discussion on this topic: 1) The way I'd pitch the production of Livy's "The Rape of the Sabine Women" to a Hollywood producer is: Look, "Meetïng the Parents", "Gladiator", and Ämerican Wedding" have been three notable box-office successes in recent years. This project will combine elements from all three movies! 2) Historical note to Van: Umm, the trade route to China for silk didn't occur for a millenia later. So the usage of scarves of silk would be a movie blooper. A relatively minor one for Hollywood, however, and one that would fall within my "suspension of disbelief" parameters. Just as long as I don't see duct tape or plasti-cuffs. |

But then again, this would have technically been in the 'bronze age' or as I call it, the 'bit gag era', so perhaps through the director's oversight, even more exciting possibilites were missed. |

You see the car moving right across the screen in a static shot ... then you hear a muffled protest, followed by the car heading back the other way. She can be seen from afar in the back seat. I didn't see her in the other shots of the car before it pulls up to the location of the confrontation. |

Turned out aired 10mins later than scheduled to go, but Zinger and I managed to catch it. TLN channel's scheds wacky at best of times. Say give our friends Anubis, Fuzz, Binder, Raffish, etc about two weeks for them to receive it and one of them might post it up for the fellas here? |

BTW, this classic scene got easier to find a while back with the movie's release on DVD. I even saw it at the local Hollywood Video, so interested collectors may be able to track it down without too much difficulty. |

I would too... If the cuffs had been tight around her wrists and the tape had actually been stuck to her face. |

Good news! Show happens next week on Monday at 9:00 CST on MTV, if you can't catch it then, don't worry, MTV reruns each episode, oh, i don't know, like 20 times in a week! |
Tuesday August 05 17:52:13 2003 The Foreigner |
For anyone curious about this scene, I've just added a DB entry, and here are a couple caps. (I've left one of them as a link since one of the actresses is underage.) |

Tuesday August 05 18:02:19 2003 naked news comes of age - just |
Down here in aussie land we get naked news on the comedy chanel late every Sunday night. On replaying my tape next morning I came across an oh so brief B&G incident. The naked female news reader reading her letters was confronted by a B&G naked damsel who was promptly pushed away. She was taped gagged and her hands were taped behind her back with black tape. I am an occasional watcher of NN. We can only hope there are more like incidents to follow. Are there any other NN fans out there.

Tuesday August 05 20:48:25 2003 Days of Our Lives |
the relevant day-ahead spoiler for tomorrow...
"Bo & Hope struggle to free themselves from their ropes as they talk about the struggles they have had over the years to be together. We get a series of flashbacks, first to Bo trying to convince Hope that he really loves her, & why he had to leave, and he has come to rescue her on her wedding day (to Larry Welch). We even see the ride on the motorcycle. Then that unforgettable scene of Hope in the cage over the vat of acid, screaming Bo’s name, as it explodes, Hope telling Bo she knows he could not be J.T.’s father, having done the math, aboard the Fancy Face after Larry tried to kill them, and they thought Bo had killed him, & Hope begging Bo for another chance to be together. Back to the present, as they continue to try & free themselves. Bo finally succeeds, cuts Hope loose, & they talk... " |
