Detective mags and current crop of lurid thrillers
Y'know, the old detective mags disappeared from magazine racks decades ago, but when I look at the caps from some of the low-budget thrillers that have cropped up lately that deal with sensational true-crime cases: Ed Gein, Hillside Strangler, etc., I wonder if the content of those pubs hasn't made its way to low budget video. It would be nice to think we can see a renaissance of the old detective mags in video form, with lots and lots of long, lovingly detailed bondage imagery. Shame about the killing and all, but ya gotta throw those mainstream sickies something ...

Mike Hammer would have been the perfect vehicle for this, and they actually had a couple of pretty good scenes with 'Velma', but really could have been a contender if they'd played up the bondage angle 'detective magazine style' as Pat notes.

During the director's commentary on the Ted Bundy dvd, theres a scene where Ted is fighting in his car with a victim (who escapes) and Ted grabs her in a sleeper hold, holds a gun to her head while she has a handcuff dangling from her wrist with her shirt pulled open, they hold that position for a few seconds, and the director says "Right here is every detective cover that I have ever seen, come to life".

"Demonlover"
I don't THINK this one's in the database-- I tried several variations on the title and the actress' name...

From a review of the new film from director Olivier Assayas, called "Demonlover":

"Diane (Connie Nielsen)...dons a cat suit... and attempts a B&E to steal important files from one of Demonlover’s chief negotiators, Elaine (Gina Gershon)".

There is evidently a pretty vigorous catfight resulting in Diane becoming a "bound-and-gagged sex slave for an underground torture website called The Hellfire Club..."

Not really an "alert" since I haven't actually seen it.

It evidently opens this week in major cities like NY and SF and a few others.

Hmm, IMDB.com already has a number of User Comments posted for "Demonlover", so evidently it opened earlier elsewhere in the world. One reviewer did mention "bondage" being involved.

IMDB.com's has its storyline as "Two corporations compete for illicit 3D manga [anime] pornograph, sending spies to infiltrate each other's operations."... I recognize Connie Neilsen's name from "Gladiator".

Yeah, it's been on the festival circuit, and was at Cannes last year. There's also a French-language Region 2 DVD available.

Is this out on VHS or DVD yet? I put it in Google Images and a pic of the box of a VHS came up with Gina and cast listed. So I put it in Amazon, but nothing came up.??

Paige Turco
Anyone know what has happened with Ms. Turco?

Has she landed a role since the Agency's cancellation?
