Upon viewing the tape, Jeanne Cooper is indeed in the episode and is briefly taken hostage by the bad guys, but is not bound in any way. If nothing else, at least now we know and can clear it out of the DB. Appreciate your wealth of knowledge, aging friend. But please tell me that the "Damon's Road" episodes from the RAWHIDE series aren't bullshit, at least. I've been looking forward to ~those~ scenes popping for a long time. |

When they're shown nowadays there's a lot of scenes cut out to make room for commercials, several minutes worth. It might very well have existed back then. |

Sunday October 12 12:34:04 2003 More historical notes... |
...that I'm sure will simply glaze most of your eyes over. However, for the two or three of you besides me who care about this stuff, I sauntered over to the database and the IMDb to see whether a score by Candice Bergen in tonight's CBS TV-movie "Footsteps" would make her the second actress-after Stefanie Powers-that we know for sure did scenes in four different decades. Well, guess what? If our database is right, she already is!
Her first recorded scene was in "The Magus" in 1968. In the 1970s she racked up entries for "Soldier Blue" and "The Wind and the Lion." She got it in a 1990 "Murphy Brown" episode, and her ensemble scene in 2003's "The In-Laws" put her over the top. In fact, she may really deserve to be in a class by herself. She played "Mayflower Madam" Sydney Biddle Barrows in a 1987 TV-movie; might she have done a little on-screen handcuff time, which would vault her unquestionably into the Hall of Fame as the first five-decade damsel? Anyone remember? As for the runners-up, Powers needs only one more scene to either beat Bergen into or join her as a member of the five-decade club; if my memory is right, either 80-year-old Anne Jeffreys or Kate Jackson, who'll turn 55 (or 54 if you believe the IMDb) on October 29, will join Bergen and Powers as four-decade damsels if either ever does another scene. Jeffreys' rather slim chance has taken a nosedive, unfortunately, with the cancellation of "Port Charles." Well, we can always hope. And after further review...the question of whether three, or only two, actresses have won Oscars for roles in which they were bound is once again open. I finally caught Ingrid Bergman's performance in "Murder on the Orient Express" this past week, and-leaving aside the off-topic question of how on earth the Academy thought she deserved an Oscar for that-it doesn't appear certain that it's really Bergman who was bound in those scenes. For those of you not familiar with the story, Bergman plays a nurse (read nanny) for a couple inspired by the Lindberghs, whose child is similarly kidnapped. The nanny is shown briefly several times from behind, lying roped to an overturned chair. It might have been Bergman-who, it should be remembered, was 59 the year the movie was released-or it might have been a stunt/body double. Frankly, I'm voting for the latter, given that Bergman, well, would have LOOKED 59 from behind, and the person in the chair doesn't, at least to me. It's obviously someone thinner than Bergman looks in scenes where you CAN see her face. And since you can see the faces of the other two Oscar-winning bondagees (Susan Hayward, 1958 Best Actress winner for "I Want to Live!" and Angelina Jolie, 1999's Best Supporting Actress for "Girl, Interrupted"), there's no ambiguity about their place in the annals of damseldom. (Hayward DOES wear dark glasses during her handcuffed walk into San Quentin, and IS blindfolded during the gas-chamber scene, but she has spoken lines during both sequences which precluded the use of a body double.) Thanks for your attention, and the rest of you may unglaze your eyes now. |

Sunday October 12 13:45:49 2003 Scene from a Book |
can somebody help me? i remember about 10 years ago looking at a book in a large chain store (Dalton's, Waldenbooks); the book was about movies or serials or something, & contained a picture apparently from a jungle movie; it was of a beautiful blonde in a white shirt/blouse B&G to a post/pole; the hero was untying her & an arrow was sticking out of the pole; does this ring a bell for anybody? what was the book? what was the movie? |

Marisa Tomei ("Watcher") Alyson Hannigan ("Buffy) Elisha Cuthbert (both scenes on "24") Shannon Kenny ("Invisible Man") Paige Turco ("Agency"). |

Sunday October 12 15:30:26 2003 THE GREAT GAMBLER, SHE SPIES |
I've just posted a SF Bay area alert for THE GREAT GAMBLER ... does anyone have a sense of scene times? Also, did anything of consequence occur in the "Manhunt" ep of SHE SPIES ... repeating this afternoon on KNTV11 (Cable 3 in Oakland CA) at 4? Finally, last night's ep of JUSTICE LEAGUE had two and a half scenes: Volcana recaptured ... her hands behind her back, apparently restrained, with a oxygen mask-like appartatus over her mouth and nose Hawkgirl trapped in a metal room, the sides closing in to the point of squeezing her to death before a strange visitor from another planet with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men intervenes Hawkgirl enwrapped in Copperhead's arms, legs and tail while airborne Volcana's scene is a blinkie ... the first Hawkgirl scene maybe ten seconds, going by memory ... and the last about a minute. No repeats listed ... at least for the coming week. |

Not sure of the book, but the picture sounds like it's from the serial Haunted Harbor. The DiD was Kay Aldridge, who was brunette, not blond. She was graced with a white detecitve gag. That was a spear, not an arrow in the post, part of a cliffhanger deathtrap. |

Sunday October 12 18:18:28 2003 PAX commercial |
I was flipping through the channels pretty fast, and when I past the PAX TV channel, I noticed that there was a commercial for some show that had a blondish woman with her hands taped together in the front. I might be mistakened, but I believe the show the commercial pertained to was either Doc or F.B.Eye, both which are on tonight starting at 8 pm. I may be wrong about it because I was switching channels too fast, but I just wanted to give you folks a potential heads up. |
Sunday October 12 18:22:02 2003 Henry VIII |
I'm not a fan myself, but thought that any of you blindfold afficionados out there may like to know that in tonight's UK premiere of the new 'Henry VIII', the lovely Helena Bonham Carter sported a blue silk, or satin, blindfold in her execution scene as Anne Boleyn.
She was not bound in any way sadly, but I surmise some of you may want to catch this scene when it airs in the US, as surely it will. |

Sunday October 12 20:03:27 2003 Lynda Carter or double in Murderous Missile scene? |
Check out the link I've provided and browse about two thirds of the way down. There's the best DiD Cap I've ever seen of Wonder Woman chained in the jail cell. But I'm not sure it's really Lynda Carter. Regardless, it's a good shot. Any thoughts on if it's her?
BTW, there's a few other tieups shown throughout that site. |

I know a few of our Right Coast bretheren get all *huffy* when us Left Coasters whine for previews, but I had to ask. :-)
...& is it just me, or does Candice look *BETTER* than she did during the last season of "Murphy Brown?" (I wish I could find a bigger image (...just to piss off Mr. Moderator.)) ;-} |

And while she still does look pretty good, age has not improved her acting skills at all unfortunately... ;-) |

So they benefit all. Nothing on "Charmed" but mini skirts and long legs. (but my power did go off for two minutes in the middle.) Even though I was hoping for a blond threesome with a side of Rose thrown in. And "The Division" pops between the 20-30 minute mark during a heart to heart talk at the safehouse. BTW, the gag is only a symbolic gag. Weakest tape gag ever. I've seen some that are about to fall of, but this one is nowhere near her lips. |

Last I'd heard Comedy Central had pulled it and replaced it with a film called "Windy City Heat". That film is listed in my local listings, online listings and even TV Guide. In fact that film was on Comedy Central at 8:00pm Central in the slot in which "Knee High" was originally supposed to air. Where'd you see "Knee High P.I."? |
