Friday September 24 01:48:19 2004 Guiding Light |
Cassie finally abducted Dinah Thursday. Nothing much to it, Dinah is waiting outside the police station for her father to give her a ride home, when a car pulled up and flashed it's lights. Dinah hopped in and (surprise, surprise, surpise) it's Cassie with a gun.
The previews for tomorrow just show them talking out in the woods. |

I think the last gag scene was Aubrey Dollar more than 2 years ago. Since this soap is always rumored to be near cancellation, it's amazing they never shake thing up. Hopefully, something will develop here. Gina Tognoni just signed up, so I don't think she's going anywhere. |

I fast forwarded through it and it didn't seem like there was anything of interest, though it's possible I glossed over a quick tape gag shot that wasn't easily visible. At some point in the first half hour, one of the two girls (who managed to escape her captors) was being interviewed and an image of her kneeling in a dimly lit room was shown. Some guy grabs her chin and forces her to look a certain direction. I suppose that could have been a handgag, but it didn't look like it. The second female is rescued later. She's being dragged around by a guy and doesn't appear bound in any way. |

I saw a promo for NBC's American Dreams which showed a cute blonde (I don't watch the show but I believe she's a main character)being led with her hands behind her back by a cop. I'm assuming she's being arrested for protesting because the show takes place in the 60's.The season premiere of the show is Sunday night from 7-8 CST on NBC. |

We can only assume that the season premiere picks up where this action left off. |

Nothing on Friday's episode. Cassie drove Dinah into the woods and threatened to kill her as the show ended. Preview for Monday showed Dinah grabbing the gun in a struggle. Not looking good. |

Also in the 2nd half (maybe 40 minutes in?), there's a flashback scene in the cabin where the 2 teenage girls are being held. It's implied by sound that one is being raped, although it's off-camera. The camera focuses on the other girl, who is blind. She's tied to a chair w/hands tied behind the chair. Her feet aren't shown & she's not gagged. She'd obviously been roughed up based on facial scracthes. She shows lots of terror when the off-screen bad guy says "you're next". That's the extent of it. |

Web listing says the Terry Farrell character meets an obsessed fan in episode 12, which airs 11 p.m. eastern on SoapNet on Saturday. If the tape-gag episode airs, this would appear to be it.
SoapNet says they air all 12 episodes, but web listing reveals 14 episodes were at least scripted, not known if all were shot and aired. Going to record this one anyway. |

Friday September 24 16:08:34 2004 BONDAGE CUTS |
I posted an alert on Monday for PRIME SUSPECT 5, anybody who saw it saw that the best part of the scene was totally cut out, unless you're into blindfolds. It brought to my mind the number of times syndicators pick the bondage scenes to trim when they're looking for extra time to squeeze in more commercials. The Avengers, the Saint episode with Shirley Eaton, the great scene on Knight Rider, and that's just counting the syndicated television shows, and not counting the many movies where great bondage scenes have been cut. To me it puts the lie to that ridiculous theory that I've seen promulgated by some people on this page and other places over the years. The theory being that producers put bondage in scenes to draw male viewers to their shows. If that's true why does seem to look for the bondage scenes to cut when they want more time? |

I hadn't heard of Ms C before someone sent me some pix, but that most mmmphogenic of newsreaders may well taste pixels under my pen again some day! :-) Does anyone know of news anchors actually getting the treatment? The only one I can think of was a local British presenter, Bernadette Kearney, getting loosely tied (no gag) in a cowboy sketch about 10 tears ago. Even that may be scene creep! |

Take a series episode with a good bondage scene, edit away any other 30 seconds than the bondage - are you sure anyone here would notice? I probably wouldn't. Hundreds of shows may have been edited before. I don't think we should roll out the conspiracy guns again. |

why does seem to look for the bondage scenes to cut when they want more time? Simple. They think Joe Public with his nanosecond attention span is only interested in the *story*. Bad guy has tied up damsel. She's not going anywhere, and not much will happen until good guy/gal arrives. Psychological exposition? Superb acting? What the hell are you on about - the audience doesn't care about that. Cut! If you have suffered cuts to that powerful scene over there, you have my deepest sympathy. |

I recall an episode of the defunct Canadian series "Hot Shots", in which the female lead, gorgeous actress Dorothy Parke, was overpowered and bound and gagged by a wrestling coach. This scene was delectable, though it could've been longer. This scene was excised from reruns of this episode, much to my dismay. |

Friday September 24 18:03:20 2004 Billie Gets Full Treatment on Canada's Days Of Our Lives |
The cute (new version of) Billie daydreams and she's tied to a chair (can't see ropes very good), gagged and blindfolded with a blue cloth. The camera zooms in, going from a body shot to a nice close-up. It lasts from 2.5-3 minutes in (before opening). It reminds me of a David Lynch scene. |

She and another girl, Mai, appear quick to relate off the wall news during commercial breaks. One the Collectors after, Lucie was on about Duct tape and how used for everything but ducts. At end of her commentary, she tore off a piece of the tape and gagged herself with it. Only problem here, these don't repeat. Always new off the wall stories for them to relate. Likely, only way we'll get it is if Omni group starts to sell the segments. |

Thanks for the anti-alert on "Guiding Light". The one draw back to digital cable there is no recording one thing while you watch something else. That leaves me with only one VCR for catching things, and I've actually become a fan of "General Hospital" which airs at the same time.
Also, the "Days of Our Lives" spoiler page for the show that will air Monday in the US says "Billie is out cold as she dreams of being held captive." Did any Canadains catch this episode that can give a little more detail on this bondage possiblity? |

Please forgive me for not knowing the show's history, but is Billie played by Krista Allen, or Lisa Rinna? Niether is listed on NBC's site as even being on the show anymore. Is one of them making a big comeback or is the blindfold on to disguise the actress altogether? |

Friday September 24 19:39:28 2004 TV show premise changes |
> What are some of our favorite (and least favorite) TV show "mid-course corrections"? DiD-wise, of course. Some that come to mind:
Not so Favorable: Buck Rogers in the 25th Century: From a lighthearted romp featuring Col Wilma Deering in a Lycra suit + some of the most appealing actresses of the era in space babe outfits as guest stars (who often needed rescue by Bucko -- such as Dorothy Stratten, Brianne Leary, Ana Alicia, Morgan Brittany, etc.) in its 1st season, to its 2nd season as a "serious" Sci-Fi show set in a science vessel. ---- I'll add a 2nd example to my list: 2) "Hunter". The producers cave-in to Fred Dryer (aka "Mr. Ego"), and reduce Stepfanie Kramer's onscreen time, to the point where she leaves the series. Her successors can't match Stepfanie's onscreen sparkle (particularly the snappy Hunter-McCall repartee), plus the scriptwriting seems to go downhill. Not to mention the disappearance of those numerous B&g scenes for Hunter's partner and the guest stars. |

> "Billie" is now played by Julie Pinson. From a Days spoiler page: "In the Jungle…Billie is out cold as she dreams of being held captive and getting an injection. He captor is telling her that she knows too much. Bo is trekking his way through the jungle looking for her as she continues to dream of him. They are in bed as they talk about her beating her addiction and her abusive father (a brief Billie history here). In her dream, he talks about losing Hope and how she brought him back, giving him a reason to live. In real time, she is calling for Bo as she wakes up and hears a noise, yelling “who’s there?” We see someone pointing a gun at her and she runs. Bo hears her scream and rushes to her voice. He comes up behind her and clasps her mouth and she sees it is him. She tells him that they must get out of there now…and he just won’t believe it…she KNOWS what is going on there. Later, they are running and she tells him that she may not be able to go on, but if she doesn’t make it to tell everyone what is going on and he is the only one who can stop it. He asks her WHAT is going on and she says he will never believe it. But before she can tell him, someone shoots both of them with darts and they fall to the ground. Then we see someone walk up and stand over them…as the previews show…" |
Friday September 24 20:27:06 2004 No binds |
I had seen DiD scenes before in which you can only see a damsel with her hands behind her back and gagged, but no evidence of her being actually tied. These "no binds" scenes are annoying, since the visible sign of bondage (the gag) catches my attention, but then I quickly notice no signs of the person being actually *bound*. Far as I know, she's just sitting there with a gag on her mouth.
For me, nothing says "bondage" quite like actually seeing the bindings themselves. Even seeing a simple torso shot of someone struggling with her hands behind her back and a gag on/in her mouth doesn't mean anything to me since there's no proof she's actually tied and not just acting. I need to see actual bonds on the actress to even be able to care. Anyway, does anyone else feel that way? I know there are a number of people who go nuts over gags, but are there people who, like me, get frustrated with "no bindings" scenes? Who feel that they aren't true DiD scenes? |

Yeah, about 21/2 minutes in. The scene lasts for about 30 seconds. All before the opening. Sorry about not being more specific. We see Billie fine (lighting wise) but the scene is blue-type lighting, hence the Lynch reference. But still worth checking out. |
