On the subject of Wonder Woman and gags...
Here's one I'd never seen before.

The scan that was sent to me, that this is taken from, is a full-page, with several panels of WW being taken prisoner, bound, gagged, and gloated over (the villainess leaves her to go off and capture Hippolyta, though I fear she probably failed).

I'd post the whole thing, but it's 15 meg (God only knows what the person who scanned it thought they were doing), and it's really good quality for its age, so rather than futz with it, if you want the whole thing, email me and I'll send you a ZIP file.

For anyone thinking of starting a site or moving their

hosts first. Then there's little problem with the TOS.

This sequence was posted a week or so ago by Bill K. at the c3c Yahoo! group. I think it might also be found in DigDiD's files at his group ... the name of which escapes me, but I imagine it's listed in the c3c links section.

...I watched the whole sappy thing from minute uno to the finish, and there was nono handgagging for Brooke Burns or ANYbody else...But there WERE a couple of pretty good hands-behind-the-back handcuff scenes involving a guest actress and a pretty blonde who's a regular supporting player. They occurred in the last 10 minutes of the episode.

I do think we missed something from last Friday's show. The database entry says there's on-screen tying of both women, but their first appearance in Monday's show had one of them already tied.

Sorry to make you sit through the whole hour of this crappy OC-ripoff, but I'm not making this up. The story surrounding this scene is that Brooke gets her dad drunk so she can get files from his computer which would confirm/deny his involvement in her mother's killing. The old man comes into the room right after she copies the files and doesn't suspect anything, but then as she's leaving the house her boyfriend handgags her from behind.

The only explanation I can give is that perhaps other time zones got a different episode, although I don't know why that would happen since I'm pretty sure the show still currently running (i.e. not in reruns). In any case, the episode is episode 110- "Vice", and it ran on the East coast (at least in Massachusetts). Also, Brooke Burns is the black-haired woman who plays "Nicole".

Anyway, it isn't a hoax. And if I did come up with a hoax, I'd like to think I could come up with a better one than "Brooke Burns gets a 3-second handgag".

I'd agree with that. I captured the image and drew a few lines on it. If you look at WW's shadow from the main light source at top of frame, you'll see a bar shadow crossing her face at exactly the right level.

Another, fainter, bar shadow hits her from the right, though the exact spot where it crosses the main shadow can't be determined. At least two other light sources, one of them beyond the thick corner post, contribute faint bar shadows. These shadows combine to put WW's face almost in the dark; there are several similar dark spots on the image, and jpeg compression probably adds its contribution.

Also, if it were a gag, even a faked one, it would cross only her upper lip, to no purpose or effect beyond the ridiculous!

It's just a trick of chiaroscuro, folks.

I downloaded the pic and zoomed in on her face. It looks like a gag to me. In fact it may be a thick cleave gag, but you can't tell

All this raises another question in my mind. Are there outtakes for mainstream scenes? Could they have filmed one take with her gagged and another wthout and went with the scene sans the gag. If so, where is the film with the gag? I wonder if there is film with scenes never broadcast

First thing I did, too. At this resolution her face is a vague mass of pixels, darker than the rest of her because it's in shade. Nothing is clear between the chin and the tiara. Check the distance between the dark stripe and the tiara, and to the tip of the chin, which is lit; it's at upper lip or even nose level. There's no sign of any interruption to her profile in the shadow on the floor.

It looks

Where are the ends of this gag? There's usually some sign of them behind the head of a damsel lying on the floor.

Yes, of course. Famous example is the ballgag in "Alias."

Possibly, but why? She's in a cage, in an obviously secluded place. No need for a gag.

There should have been onscreen tying.
First with Alejandra Barros. Then with Patricia Navidad whom finds Alejandra, but is caught herself and bound the same way.

It doesn't appear you've missed the gag scenes.
That crazy lady will find the ladies. They will be on her "por favour!", "por favour!", to untie them but she doesn't for some reason. Instead, she'll return to the (family?) and act out their predicament.
After crazy lady leaves, César returns and gags Patricia with the orange cloth.

Further to the above, a major sticking point to me is that if this were a shot of Lynda Carter gagged, where did it come from? Who would have access to such an outtake?

What's its provenance, Lovejoy?

If that were important she would not have been gagged on a boat filled with enemy spies (Day of the Dolphin) or in a empty warehouse in the middle of the woods with a bomb set to go off in 3 minutes (the starships are commin) or in the back seat of a car being driven by the bad guys (Hot wheels)

They gagged her, because they wanted to gag her, not because it fit in the storyline.

In the scene with her on the floor of a jail cell (not a cage) it was a cell inside a police station in a small town. she could have easily screamed for help

It was not an outtake but a mistake by the editor
I think that scene actually appeared in the show. they forgot to delete the wide shot, but would never have missed the close ups of a gagged WW

I don't think it was an accident that WW was never gagged in costume. They did not want to have her appear that helpless while WW. Only Diana Prince was subject to constant bindings with multiple gags.

I'd agree with the first ... but she was gagged in "Starships" because she was telling Leif Erikson (sp?) was a shit he was. In "Hot Wheels" the car was being driven through town ... she could have attracted attention rather easily.

Actually if you saw the episode then you would know that the town was nearly empty and that every one left in town was in on the plan. There was no reason to gag her at all.

The sequence is pretty much composed of that wide angle ... and it's pretty obvious she isn't gagged. Unless you're saying that somehow one or a few frames of her gagged were mixed with the rest, I don't see how the above makes sense.

Of course, someone with easy access to a copy of the scene could clear this up ... mine's buried deep in the archives.

The bit about her mouthing off to the leader was written in so that they could have an excuse to tie that black cloth around her mouth

As to the car scene, how much less attention would she have attracted if she simply sat up for the world to see a tightly cleave gagged woman

The jail cell, despite the empty town woudl have made no less sence--and perhaps a bit more--than the three gag scenes Lynda had

That explanation taken from the chapter devoted to that scene in Mr. Erikson's autobiography, no doubt.

As could have every other bound and gagged character lying on the back seat in every other scene of this nature. It's called a dramatic convention ... accompanied by a willing suspension of disbelief.

WW different episode disappointment
I remember an episode of Wonder Woman, when it went it first started in modern time instead of 1940 time.
Steve had disappeared, Diana Prince was to investigate when she is accosted by two large men working for an Asian gang ring. Diana runs into the woods turns into WW and puts a lasso on the two men. When she asks the two what they were going to do with Diana Prince, they respond that they were instructed to take her to a warehouse and leave her bound and gagged and await instructions.
I thought this was a perfect oppurtunity for WW to become Diana Prince again, get captured and taken to the warehouse hideout to see who shows up. alas it never happened. And I thought that Lynda Carter would never get it.
Can anyone identify this epsiode.
Tuesday September 14 16:45:52 2004
Re: WW gagged (?)
One more thought
On the Dolphin episode
After they are out to see
two of the men talk about how many questions she (the captured diana prince) was asking
and the leader says
"I know. It is a good thing we gagged her."

The writers obviously wrote that in to explain the unexplainable
jsut as they did with the starships episode

It was the episode with the Black actrss Jane Kennedy as the leader of the opposition

Re: WW gagged (?)
> The bit about her mouthing off to the leader was written

The villain became irritated by her admonitory comments, and said forcefully, "Put a gag in her mouth!", and one of his underlings complied with his order. She remained bound and gagged until her rescuer, a bumbling idiot, came along. She tried to speak to him through her gag, and make him understand that he should remove the gag first, but he continued struggling with the knots securing her legs. She sighed in resignation to her fate of having a rescuer who was none too bright.

Wasn't there a villainous henchman in the back seat whose job it was to keep her down? Perhaps she was kept down by the implied threat of violence.

Wasn't the entire population of the town brainwashed or part of some secret conspiracy or something to that effect?

It is too bad that they did not have her hands tied behind the chair. A small thing to be sure but it would have been nice to see her in a classic chair tie.

Each of Lynda's scenes suffer just a bit that way.
On the boat, way too much clothing and no gag talk
It also would have nice to see them bind and then gag her

In the car, her legs were not tied and it was a brief scene also the gagging was not done for us to see

talk about missingf scenes
Here is a description of the dolphin scene from a WW site
the link is
http://lacosa.sion.com/ww/html/series/wonder/season3/78-09.htm
the description is

Once aboard she is caught, tied up and brought to Lockhart. From things in her purse they find out she is a government agent. They decide to get rid of her after Bluebird has accomplished his mission. She is below, left alone. Diana nudges her chair until she can reach the door with her foot and shut it. She begins working on her bindings.

All Wonder Woman episodes follow impeccable logic, since the writers knew they would be debated on a website almost thirty years later.

Re the " great WW debate "
I've seen the whole two series twice and the only time Wonder Woman was gagged was in the " disco era " and in her moral guise of Diana Prince, government agent ( and part time damsel in distress ).

On three occasions a black cloth cleave gag was used.

What looks to be an OTM or detective style gag in the prison cell scene from series one is a shadow from one of the bars, I'm sorry to say.

I've seen part of it over at another site a while ago, but not the lovely closeup you posted, Jeb.

She manages to break free from the tree by biting through the gag, but is unable to completely free herself. She then mentally calls her invisible plane. She grabs hold of a lowered rope ladder with her mouth and they both fly off.

They don't write 'em like that anymore...

No, that's not a commentary on the apparently neverending Wonder Woman discussion. It's the title of a play currently in Los Angeles by Jacqueline Wright, who also stars as a suicidal woman who's attacked in her own home (sounds like a pretty intense scene). The review at the LA Weekly site (link below) also has a photo of Ms. Wright shown with her hands bound with phone cord.
