It's much easier to start up a site when there's really no investment. You can get an idea, mess around with it, let the concept develop. Let's face it, if I hadn't had Tripod to start this one out on, it probably never would have happened either. It's not just "our thing" either, the heyday of the free sites on every conceivable topic is slipping away. The good thing is that the components for those who have to switch have gotten cheaper. Bandwidth, storage and domain registration have all come down dramatically with the advance of technology. But that doesn't help new people get started. Things change. |

Of course, with my college team 0-2, my Cowboys 0-1, and my High School team 1-2, there ain't much to get excited about. Not only that, but I just bought a new computer and my old (Realtively speaking) Maxtor 120GB SATA hard drive simply refuses to boot up or copy into the new system with a Maxtor SATA 250GB drive. My data is backed up, but I hate the idea of having to reinstall all that software. I know this isn't the place for this, (Forgive me moderator) but if any of you think you can help, please email me and I'll go into more details. |

It's been a pain in the ass, and I finally got my own domain name and I pay for hosting and bandwidth. It's been up and running for awhile and I finally transitioned over this weekend to the new site. All this is by way of explaining how much aggravation, besides the work, that's involved. Since I now have more amateur stuff than DiD I'm not a top bookmark from here anymore. But I can tell you how hard Fuzz works on his site because we've spoken about it a lot. I felt like this bears repeating as updating a site isn't all that big a deal if you have a system in place (see my earlier post below). If anyone is interested in a PHP, ASP, or Javascript automatic update solution let me know and I'll fill you in with the details.
--------------------------------------------- I don't receive a lot of thanks (and am not asking for it by posting here), but my own observations is people complain most about a site not being regularly updated. I've solved that with a little Javascript and PHP coding allowing my site to update itself based on the server date. Some say it takes a long time to do each update, for me it's an hour maybe two at the most per month creating caps and uploading clips for the next month's worth of vids. Since implementing this automatic system I haven't had a single complaint about updating the site "on time". - Kerhop |

I only caught the final 15 minutes of "Guiding Light" on Monday (it plays early here), and Michele was not in any danger when shown 45 minutes in, but I didn't see the handgag to start. Obviously a friend did it.
FYI, Gina Tognoni (new Dinah) is now a brunette. |
Monday September 13 12:54:58 2004 Scene ID? |
Can anyone help me identify this scene? I have it down as "Viper," but I'm not sure if that refers to an episode of either the original or revival TV series by that name, or to one of several movies with the same title, or to something else entirely. (Obviously, I've checked the database, but didn't find anything that looks like a match.)
By the way, the new site is coming along. I expect to have the big spreadsheet that contains all of the scene details done by tomorrow, and then it'll be mainly a matter of finalizing the hosting details and writing the scripts to support searching, maintenance, and so on. I just got the hundredth email asking to be notified when the new site goes live, which is a lot more than I was expecting. Thanks for all the interest...it's definitely helping me stay focused! |

It's just the free sites that have dried up, pretty much because the webhosting companies no longer believe they can make money by giving away bandwidth. |

I just watched this movie last night on DVD. Near the end of the movie, a good-looking young woman is kidnapped by a serial killer, and bound and gagged in his basement. Her hands are tied over her head to a pole, and she is cleave-gagged with a pale yellow cloth. It is a fairly lengthy scene, with some decent close-ups.
I will compose a Database Entry for this movie, provided that one doesn't already exist. |

I try to toss something up every month or so ... but to be honest I'm diving into a shallow pool. I won't post sets of scenes with overt violence or a vicious atmosphere ... which rules out most new scenes from TV and film these days (SVU, CSI, slasher/horror flicks, etc.). I have a groaning archive of sequences ... but as you can see from that DOOL set with Deidre Hall, the gens really diminish picture quality, so I'd prefer to deal with material I grab off recent airings, or clean copies sent to me by my Wisconsin connection. That's a relatively lean plate ... so when unexpected scenes like last night's UNFABULOUS pop, I'm a happy webmaster. That'll likely be the next set posted ... and soon, given that it's almost that time of the month. Sixty frames ... maybe four-six caps? I won't have to decide which of the older sets to retire to make room ... which is almost always a bastard choice to make. |

Well, after seeing Hope get the handgag early on today's episode, I was all excited, thinking "Ooh, she's gonna get tied up again..." WRONG! Turns out Patrick had just come up behind her and handgagged her because, he said, he heard something out in the bush and didn't want Hope screaming....now, does this mean she's out of danger?? Let's hope not....but I wouldn't count on anything...

It requires little effort to copy and paste a scene description I'm given into my list, and upload it. It only requires effort to actually type up a description of something I've seen myself, but that's often not a problem. I mostly just add whatever I'm given, since I don't really watch TV. I only update my site when I get ahold of new material, regardless of what it is. In some cases it has included material that is unavailable in the Western world - though this has proven useful to people who live in the East (I know someone from Malaysia who reads my list) or who like to import. In other cases it has included totally silly shows that I would never even want to glance at. But just because I sometimes have less than zero interest in the material I'm given, doesn't mean I'll reject it - after all, I don't want my site to be uninclusive. I do reject "arrested criminal" and "handgag"-only scenes, as I don't consider them true "capture" scenes. As for the scans/copies of comic strips, they come whenever I happen to stumble across or are alerted to them. |

I remember the episode. She's not gagged. (Incidently, here's a trivia tidbit: The big guest star was Roy Rogers. I see that Charlize Theron is working on a new movie "Aeon Flux" based on the old MTV cartoon. I remember it was a pretty violent cartoon but did it have any DiD scenes? It seemed like most of the characters outfits were somewhat bondage inspired. |

This is not the Roy episode with ABC, it is the Murderous Missle CBS episode. I recall it well because of the devestating disappointment. When first confronted WW asks what the bad guys were going to do with her. "Just keep you out of the way for a while." Then came the gas. When she woke, I would have bet that would have been stripped of her belt, tied to a pole in the barn chewing on a bandana gag. Instead we get a good spread eagle shot, but with her belt in place she was bound for no more than 5 seconds. She was not gagged in the close up, but this still seems to show a black gag. |
Monday September 13 20:20:21 2004 North Shore |
On tonight's episode, enititled "Vice", Brooke Burns gets a quick "friendly fire" handgag from her boyfriend. Only lasts 2 or 3 seconds, but worth catching for handgag afficianados.
As for the Aeon Flux flick, I think our chances of seeing Charlize in bondage are non-existant. On the cartoon series, it was always Aeon dishing out the bondage, and always *guys* getting B&G (in the premiere episode alone we got hit with two putzes in seperate scenes, both tied up by Aeon. Eeew.). Still might be a cool flick, since Peter Chung, who created it, is behind the helm. |

It could be the shadow, but if you follow the shadow of the bars none of them cross her mouth. Also, the "gag" appears darker than the shadows. I think it is a balck over the mouth gag. Probably one of the biggest factors in disappearing DiD-sites (aside from the freehosting) is burnout. I had a non bondage-related site for about a year. When my host (NBCI) dropped free sites, I was almost relieved. That some of you have had your sites up for years is amazing. I was selling collectibles. The worst complainers came, of course, from people demanding updates. Naturally, none of these demanders was ever a customer. |

As I've said, I'm allowing more discussion under the new rules (as should be obvious). However, it is not now and never will be on-topic to complain about other sites.
Such problems should be directed towards the site owner using whatever contact information is provided. If he or she is interested, that's the best way. There's no reason to do it here, except for some misguided attempt to publicly embarrass the owner into action. I moved the one from today, because it sort of grew out of the current discussion. Any future complaints, insults, requests for updates, etc. will be deleted immediately. I hope the policy AND the reasons for it are clear to all. |

Monday September 13 22:20:36 2004 Argento bondage |
We should all be well aware of Dario Argento's obsession with violence and, at times, bondage. Even made sure to get his daughter into it. (Points off for the "eww" factor, but points back on 'cause it's Asia!)
Anyways, got a hold of a two-disc set of Argento's "Doorways into Darkness" including four episodes of some Italian TV show from either the late '70's or early '80's. The first episode on the first disc has a beautiful dark haired woman who spends the latter half of the episode tied hand and foot and OTM gagged with a white cloth. She struggles, hops about, tries to escape. The whole lot. Not sure if anyone has seen this or reported on this before, but it's worth checking out. IT's a Region 0 DVD, but all you gotta do is plunk down for a multi-region player and you can watch it. Laters |

Unless it's a shadow, as a previous poster suggested, it wasn't capped by anyone, since she isn't gagged in the actual ep. I'd be interested to know where he and others obtained the image. Also, since every other scene in the series involved a black cleavegag, why would an overgag be used? In any event, I said a fake is the most *likely* explanation ... not the definitive one. I'm deeply skeptical, but heaven and earth, Horatio. |

Hey, TJ, thanks for the kind words. Long time, man-- good to see you.
I'm another one that started out with a free site, and am currently paying $100 a year (for that, though, I get more bandwidth than I ever use), as well as keeping a free "mirror" at geocities (which is stripped of all graphics, or it'd go through a month's bandwidth in a day). It's not a lot to spend on a hobby, really, when you think about it, and it's less likely (though not impossible, I suppose) that I'm going to get nailed with some TOS bs, since I'm actually a paying customer. |
