Ummm.... would this actually be considered a commerical video?! I didn't know Amazon.com sold commerical bondage videos cuz that's where I got mine - HA!!!
What I got from it is that it's trying to be an actual bio-pic of Bettie that "recreates" missing/destroyed short bondage films that are sprinkled throughout the film. This flick does actually tell a story (although very poorly done) from the beginning of her career to the end. Sure it's a very cheaply made film. Sure it's badly acted. But it is what it is: A low budget film about Bettie Page. Just because a bondage/fetish model is the star does that make automatically make it a commercial video? You seem to think this is a commerical video. I do not. As much as I hated this "film" I think it's best if we got the Moderator's verdict on just what he thinks "Dark Angel" is: a commerical film or not. And then HE can decide if it's off-topic and conversation about it should end or not.

spanish show alert?
From the Alerts Page:
Day: Friday September 16 2005
Time: 2:00 AM EASTERN EAST
Channel: UNIVISION CHAN. 41
THE NOVELA CONTINUES WITH A LONG HAIRED BEAUTY IN A MINI SKIRT BEING REGAGGED AND BOUND. THIS AIRS AT 2:00 AM TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. MAY HAVE SOME INTERESTING SCENES OF THIS BOUND AND GAGGED DOLL LEFT. KEEP TAPING.

Has this scene been going on all this week? Today is Thursday, so it would have aired twice already this week. Has there been an ungoing scene or is this a new scene? Reason I ask is because there have been no alerts on this, or any discussion (except for a week or so ago, when a girl was supposed to have been tied in a reverse hogtie & gagged, but nothing I guess came of it since I didn't hear anything.
Just wondered if I've missed anything on this show so far.

Criminal Minds Extended Promo
Saw an 4 minute trailer of the upcoming "Criminal Minds" show starting on CBS next Thursday at 10PM ET. Spoiler Alert: Looks like very pretty redhead getting duct tape blindfold and cleave gag in some sort of cage. She is lured into killer's car to drive her somewhere, he keeps driving, she sees that door locks are removed from car. Next she's shown in the cage. Profilers claim that killer keeps victims alive for 7 days. They find live web feed of her still blindfolded, gagged in cage. Showdown w/profilers at some boatyard shows killer having girl in a chokehold, duct tape blindfold above her eyes on top of her head, and cleave gag hanging around her neck before killer is taken down. Hopefully, they will show more than the standard split second blurry badly lit shots that have become commonplace for these types of shows, since it does look like they are going to show some details from the girl's point of view.

Contra Viento y Marea
Looks like another Telenovela that shows promise. Just started this week on Univision at 8PM. There appears to be a group of young hoodlums taken straight from the cast of the first Death Wish. In the first week, they have given a nice handgag to one of the heroines of the show who was wearing a skimpy pink bikini (excellent body), who escapes. In Thursday's episode, they robbed some small store, bound (hands and feet) and gagged (purple cleave) the middle age woman shopkeeper before she is found by family. And this is after only 4 shows!

That was the lovely Marlene Favela in that scene. It was nice to see her high beams on under her bikini top during part of the scene.

Amazon also sells DVD compilations of Bettie's old stag flicks, which are clearly not for mainstream consumption. I don't think that fact alone determines whether or not it's a commercial bondage video. Bettie's notoriety is a powerful thing, and just about anything with her name slapped on it is going to be widely distributed.

IMO, the "Dark Angel" flick does such a miserable job attempting to be cohesive and legitimate that no one could possibly take anything from it other than its ability to titillate a fetish audience. Its narrative (and that's a generous term) could not interest a mainstream audience, nor could the acting. That, to me, is a commercial fetish video.

If "Into the Blue" is providing a scene that you want to see than it would be better if it didn't bomb. Making movies is a business. People are trying to make money when they put a movie together. When a film bombs, not only do they not make money, but they lose money. I don't understand why people won't go see a movie that is providing a scene that they will enjoy. I like to reward the movie by going to see it. If a movie doesn't make money, than movies with the same qualities are less likely to be produced. I doubt that it will make a lot of money in DVD/Video sales also. When it comes out on DVD/Video somebody will make caps/clips so it can be seen for free at no charge to you. Great for everyone except the producers of the film who get nothing from this. This post isn't meant to rip anybody. It is just something to think about next time there is a long run of movies with no scenes in them.

To tell the truth, and I apologise to the original poster if I'm mistaken, but I'm not 100% sure the alerts have been correct (or legit). Like you, I saw the first alert last week on the girl in a reverse hogtie. Starting the very next day I started recording the show every nite. I didn't miss a single episode, & no scene remotely like the description ever showed up. I finally got tired of scanning thru the show every morning.
After seeing the alert yesterday that you quoted above, I recorded the show again last nite, & again, Nada. No woman even looked remotely in peril.
Also, besides the original post, I've read no discussion whatsoever on the show, which is a bit unusual if there were an ongoing scene.
And, in addition, and again, my apologies if I'm mistaken or out of line, but the alert you quoted from the Alerts Page was for Thursday, and it said how the show airs every nite from Tuesday to Friday. If there was an ongoing tie-and-gag scene on the show, I'd have thought we'd have seen some alerts earlier in the week rather than after the week's run is nearly over, particularly if scenes have been happening all week.

So it's possible you havent' really mnissed anything at all. Does anyone know for sure if a scene is actually happening on that show?

Now, I'm not accusing the original poster of anything...possible the Univision station I get with DirecTV is a different feed or something that the one he gets or something, but in any case, I haven't seen anything noteworthy on the show in the recent past.

Many people will look for a free copy no matter how the film fares, but that wasn't my point. My point was if the movie doesn't stay in theaters long, it'll usually come to video/DVD faster, so we can buy a copy quicker than having to wait. I don't think this movie has to worry about DVD sales with Jessica Alba and Ashley Scott running around like they are. Plus, the longer wait for the release might actually help them here.

However, I'm not sure how the system works with DVD releases. "House of Wax" isn't out until Oct. 25 and that didn't fare too well, yet it's taking longer than more successful movies like "Skeleton Key." With these "Into the Blue" promos, they're certain to get my $9, plus a future DVD buy.

Re: The Notorious Bettie Page: March 2006
All of this talk about Bettie Page reminded me of one fact that doesn't get mentioned much. Last I heard she was still alive. I saw an interview with her on TV once (She wouldn;t let her face be filmed) and she said something along the lines of, "...all of that bondage stuff was just a job. It was fun and the poeple were nice but I never planned to be remembered for it"
So...I wonder how much an "honest" movie about her would dwell on that. I mean, her life's story is really pretty inresting, you could make a nice movie about it without spending a lot of time on the Klaw stuff.

I actually saw a contemporary picture of her in a "Playboy" a couple years back, when she attended a big anniversary party for the magazine. She's mature-looking, obviously, and quite filled out, but still Bettie. It kind of made me smile.

and she said
> something along the lines of, "...all of that

Of course it was just a job. Most of the population doesn't get sexually aroused by bondage, nor do they fixate on it to the degree fetishists do. That may sound trite, but judging from some of the comments I read here ("Dumb director! Why couldn't he gag her?"...as if that's a thought in his head), it may be a revelation to some people.

> So...I wonder how much an "honest" movie about

Considering the bondage pictorials are what got her in hot water with the government, I'd say that was the most significant passage in her life, and it's no surprise "Notorious" appears to be concentrating on it. She was the first fetish model of note, and will likely wind up being the most reknowned. I'd question a movie that didn't focus on it.

Image of Gretchen Mol as Bettie is attached.

Soap news
"General Hospital" has fired the replacement "Carly" and has cast Laura Wright from "GL" to take over the role. Wright is leaving GL and Nancy St. Alban (Michelle) has also been fired at GL. A producer was quoted as saying a dramatic finale for Cassie on "GL" will take place. No word if Michelle is also being written off, but both those characters have been in somewhat dangerous storylines recently. The Cassie husband is a phycho, so that always helps.

In the DB and the alerts page there is reference to this movie and it says:

"Description: Ms. Kennedy is seen hogtied while lying on her belly on a gurney. This hogtie is extremely tight and she struggles quite vigorously. Her hands are tied at the wrist to her ankles, so her fingers are well beyond her feet. Soon after, she hops around in the same predicament. "

How do you "hop" while hogtied on your belly? Seriously, how much of the bondage is the same

Actually these days it's the opposite. If a movie bombs it's more likely to come out later than a movie that is more popular, because the hits are the ones that get pirated the most.
These days studios release films on DVD so soon because they are trying to stay one step ahead of the pirates hurting their dvd sales.

OK, makes sense. It seems in the last year, movies are coming out much faster on DVD than they used to. I thought it was standard for there to be a 4 or 5 month wait, but now it seems like just 3.

There was a very quick scene on Thurs 2AM episode about 40 min in of the woman getting cleave gagged by 2 guys. She appeared to be in some sort of cell. There didn't seem to be any preceding scene and nothing since (unfortunately last night Univision ran everything 1/2 hr late because of Pres. address so I missed last half hour after 3AM) to see if this continued. Not sure if initial scene just happened a few weeks ago and is very slow to continue (a la OLTL and Natalie) or Univision is cutting out some scenes. For sure, the same damsel gets an excellent hogtie and gag scene (w/packing), and a later scene w/the hot Lucero in the final episode. This show aired a few years ago in primetime on Univision, so I have it recorded on VCR, but I was hoping to get it on DVD.

The scene began with her, as stated, hogtied on her belly. After the cops raid the place, and everyone is runnign out of the building, she is seen hopping out the front door behind everyone else. Her ankles are still obviously tied (hence, the "hopping"!) and her hands are tied behind her but the hogtie rope is gone now. I imagine the entire ropework was a bit of a loosie, as we see her while hopping, the ankle ropes begin to loosen & she gets out of her restraints with little effort.

Remember, the scene was played for laffs & not realism.

Someone on IMDB.com's Message board on the film was good enough to have posted a link to James Beradinelli's review.

Most encouraging (to Brian's Pagers) is the sentence in the 2nd paragraph:

"It follows each stage of her career and re-creates some of her most famous shoots: Glamor poses, bondage photos and movies and nudes."
