Sunday February 15 02:56:22 2004 Scare Tactics Preview |
Saw Scare Tactics preview on Sci Fi which premires new season starting March 4th. Preview showed no DID but did have one second shot at end with girl in white turtleneck sweater on couch with someone next to her (only arm showing) who had a striped shirt on with what looked like lots of sliver duct tape attached. Could have been a guy; the girl's part is someone who is next to a trunk that opens revealing a chained up guy in a leather baby suit and rubber gas mask (I have no idea what this is about). Show looks like fun and I think it's over due for a good scene as they have come close before - once had a blonde, the victim of a "collector", with her ankles chained by handcuffs to a bed. |

Sunday February 15 07:36:59 2004 Filmmakers bondage tricks? |
I was just wondering the other day about how the filmmakers do bondage scenes, what are their tricks/secrets.
I suppose not all the actresses (esp. hollywood ones) are happy with the idea of being tied and gagged - do you think they have a choice or it solely depends on the director? How do they make these scenes? Do they use loose rope and a minimal gag over mouth? What about tape-gag scenes? Does anyone have any behind the scenes insights about bondage in commercial films? Has any mainstream actress ever talked about her bondage experience (concerning a certain film for example) in the media? I think it would be interesting to share your knowledge if you know something. Cheers: -Jos |

After seeing the pic about La Prisionera, I checked the web and found the trailer (linked below) some of you have seen. The hair pull and the chain dangling show definite promise, but I've been duped by sensationalistic teaser-trailers before only to find the finished product wasnt up to par. Given how the talent "stacks up", I'll definitely keep tabs on the show once it starts showing, as spanish soaps are never rerun (except Uga Uga). PS-Come on, there's gotta be more than 4 AOH-ers out there besides Malasfan, myself, TBird and Friendly Fire. |

Sunday February 15 09:08:29 2004 Unnecessary Blindfolds |
> There has been a discussion of scenes with unnecessary gags, perhaps Spun is an instance of an unnecessary blindfold... Any other instances of unnecessary blindfolds?
---- Cameron Diaz in "A Life Less Ordinary". After Delroy Lindo deals the chairtied & tape-gagged Diaz a fifth card (over her frantic mmphing protests), she chortles over receving an ace to hit "21". Her captor's retort is to pull her white headband down over her eyes, blindfolding her. |

Sunday February 15 09:34:30 2004 JAG |
> > Catherine Bell received the full-treatment in her first season on the series in "The Stalker" episode...
> > > > Which was also one of the most infuritating scenes of all-time. After Catherine is quickly tape-gagged onscreen, the stalker and Harm slug it out for about 1 to 2 minutes (an eternity on TV) yet the camera never shows Catherine reacting to the fight scene, although we hear her mmmmpppffing in the background. We then get a sideways shot of her being ungagged. ---- But JAG's director did demonstrate he'd learn his lesson with JAG's next DiD scene: Susan Haskell in "Wilderness of Mirrors". After her onscreen handkerchief-knockout, Haskell is shown in midrange (showing her chairtied, blindfolded and gagged). And as Harm and arch-enemy Carson Palmer taunt each other, cutaways to different camera show closeups of Lt Cmdr Parker's bound wrists from behind, then another camera angle zooms into closeups of her bound ankles as she works to maneuver her ankles closer to bump the reflector. A lot of effort went into filming this showdown scene! Am I the only one here who thinks that since Lt. Col. MacKenzie has already had a couple scenes, it's appropriate that some time be given to JAG's other ladies? E.g., there's Karri Turner's Lt. Harriet Sims Roberts, and Zoe McClellan has been added as a series regular as Petty Officer Jennifer Coates... If only the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps really looked like the JAG ladies (I'm trying to recall an episode with an ordinary-looking female servicewoman), then service recruiters wouldn't have to work so hard signing up volunteers. |

Sunday February 15 09:48:09 2004 Scene Database |
> This is the first time I have contributed to this list... I think that it may be useful to put details of brief or disappointing scenes in the database as it can save wasting tape on programs that sound as if they may be interesting but turn out to be not so.
Would it make the database more useful if the details of this [Father Dowling] episode were entered to avoid raising false hopes for anyone else? ---- If there is Relevant (and non-subjective) information missing from a "Scene Database" entry, that can be entered on the "Database Corrections" page. A Database item I find more useful than a scene's length is some sort of indication as to when it occurs (if not approximate minute, at least noting when if occurred at the Beginning/Middle/End is helpful). |

I would say both. At least I remember the description "she was tightly tied to a chair for most of the movie" (or something like that) actually meaning one 2 second shot from a while after she disappeared, just to show what happened, then one hour later another 2 second shot when the hero freed her. That info: in total 4-5 second of onscreen action-and that ain't subjective- would have spared me some disappointment. And yes I changed it in corrections. |

Sunday February 15 10:30:06 2004 Re: Scene Database |
-come to think of it, there may be a number of those. For example one "The Fall Guy" scene with Markie Post. The entry says "the famous bikini scene with MP; she is tied to a chair for most of the episode" (or something, I think it's still in the DB)
Then someone over at AG told me it was actually very short and nothing to write home about. I never saw it myself, so I couldn't change it. |

Sunday February 15 10:48:30 2004 Y&R - Tracey Bregman |
I gleaned some stuff from the CBS update page for the Friday episode. Kevin the psychopath and Lauren (Tracey Bregman) are going out for a date, in spite of the fact any number of people are suspicous of him. Somebody illegally entered his apartment to try to find something on him but didn't see anything that looked suspicious, nothing beyond a toolbox, some styrofoam, and......some duct tape. Looks like he's a good solid all-American boy. I can just see all the duct tape fans getting excited right now. (No, the update doesn't say what color the tape was.) I'd rather see handcuffs actually, but if duct tape is the best we can do...

This sounds fantastic - any chance we can have the text of this repeated? Big thrill having a damsel-in-distress right here amongst us :-)
Especially someone who enjoys bondage rather than has to be talked into it - mmmmmm -------------------- I wonder what would people talk to the damsel about? My girlfriend likes bondage enough that she will actually surf the internet looking for ideas for us to try, but I never thought to actually just talk about it. |

Having worked on a film where there was two incidents of bondage, the actresses were indifferent. They may be uncomfortable, but if it is in the script, it is in the script. They may see some slight kinkiness to it, but view it more as drama then a scene where a strong minority of people (i.e. those os us reading this right now) might get off on it. As for the rope and the gags, I just wanted to make them look like they were on there good. Most of the time, the actress spend hours tied up, and you can't truss her up too tight. |

Sunday February 15 16:13:54 2004 Re: JAG |
According to spoilers (SPOILER), Mac (Catherine Bell) shoots the evil terrorist stalking her in cold blood. This is meant to set up some sort of moral dilemma for her to wrestle with in future episodes.
So.. Does she karate kick the guy, then get out her gun, and kapow! Or does he catch her, and, after she escapes, she gets the opportunity to ice him? A later episode refers to her working through the hostage/killing episode, so maybe the latter... |

It is harder to escape if you can not see what you are doing and can not use your lips or teeth. So, both add to the bondage. |

Sunday February 15 18:20:13 2004 New Power Rangers Good News/Bad News |
the bad news is the girl got kidnapped in the first episode (nice handgag) and when she awoke she was lying in a chair (like a dentist's chair) unrestrained in ANY way :)
Good news is... Her power is a Black Canary-ish sonic scream. NEVER been a better excuse to gag her early and often. Other good news is... there is a cute blond cheerleader-snoopy-school-reporter (newsbabe for the high school TV channel actually) and she seems like she's gonna be looking for trouble and hopefully getting into some CONSTANTLY. ...in other news... I meant to say... Valkyrie is a cool, SWEET, and classy lady Sweet not SEET Tonight the Typo devil...The Typodevils got my soul (apologies to Ms. Etheridge) ;) |

Never thought about that before, but you're right. I guess in that respect there is no truly "unnecessary" blindfold, or gag. Then again it could be argued that if the person is capable of reaching up to bite the ropes off, but is gagged, then they are also possibly capable of undoing/shifting the gag. |

---- Sounds like more effort would be expended than is necessary. If it's about movies or TV-series compilations on DVD, information has already been posted here in the "Scene Database" or "Movie Alerts" section. "Best Mainstream Books" (e.g., "Dirty Harry 3: The Long Death" by Dane Hartman) is a topic that's been previously discussed on this page as well. Those interested can simply utilize the Brian's Page "Search" capability on keywords such as "books" and "book". And if it's about "non-mainstream" books, well, then that's off-topic for the Discussion Page. |
