WB Stakes Angel
The cast was told on the set today that the show won't be back next year, and WB made it official a little later. Talks are underway for some future TV movies, but at this point it appears another show that had more than its' share of DiD scenes over the years has bitten the dust.

He was also widely considered a mushroom expert. But 4'33" didn't employ perverted instruments like many of his pieces. It was purely ambient sounds.

I attended a different piece of his (can't recall the title), where each musician had their sheet music and a stopwatch, and could play their part at any time during a set period, ensuring that each performance would be different. In that one, piano strings were played by the cat-gut part of a bow looped around them.

I could see a gagged chorus doing something similar in terms of mmmphs, gag-talk, muffled screams, etc. Not sure where the mushrooms would figure in, however.

Sorry about that. I didn't realize there was no nudity allowed. No, I'm not gagged in any of those scenes, but, there are a couple of good scenes with rope bondage coming up on Cinemax. Also, on Cinemax, in a movie called All For Lust, it's not all out bondage, but, there is a scene where I handcuff Samantha Sterling.

Cool. I hope you'll post them on the VCR Alerts page so we won't miss any of them.

That makes the two best full-treatment series from 2003-04 gone. "Angel" (3 scenes) and "Jake 2.0" (two scenes). Too bad.

Meredith Vieira possibility
On Thursday, Feb 19, the View will have as guests comic magicians Penn and Teller. Knowing these two guys penchant for doing off the wall things, and Meredith Viera's affinity for handcuffs, we might see something interesting. It's by no means a sure thing, but it's in the realm of possibility.

Well, that is bad news. Not only was Buffy/Angel a decent souce of D-I-D material, the shows were, for the most part, well-written and fun to watch, which made them a rare thing on TV these days. Of course, UPN or some other network could still pick up the show.

If not, here's hoping the truly awful Tru Calling goes belly up soon and Faith gets her own show.

Movieoke, Karake's cinematic offspring

Agreed. To bring the discussion back fully on-topic, I read a recent Reuters article on Movieoke (manufactured by Anastasia Fite). It's geared towards those out there like me who think they can recite Clint Eastwood's "Dirty Harry" and "Sudden Impact" monologues verbatim; those "Monty Python & The Holy Grail" fanatics, etc.

I'm thinking there could be some real possibilities for some interesting role-play for Brian's Pagers out there. For example, somewhere in Movieoke's cinematic inventory should be some classics w/ interesting bondage scenes, preferably those with good interaction with a captive damsel. E.g., in "Raiders of the Lost Ark", I could play Indiana Jones and (say, Jacklyn Lick) could do Marian Ravenwood in the "Tent" ungag & re-gag scene.

Some other Movieoke possibilities could be those movies with an evil captor gloating over a gagged, mmphing damsel (e.g., "Single White Female", "Beach Fever", etc.). IMO, these selections would be more fun on Valentine's Day than Humphrey Bogart's "We'll always have Paris" farewell at the end of "Casablanca".

That is the very beautiful Gabriela Spanic in that shot. That may have been the best news of the week if it pans out to be what it looks like. I first noticed that promo during the "Amor Descarado" episodes early this week and despite liking the scenes in those episodes I was more fascinated by the possibilites for Gabriela especially after being disappointed by her scenes in "La Venganza".

You got that right. Months ago, I entered a post on Best Onscreen Gag Re-tightening Scenes (e.g., "The Collector"), which got zero replies. Weeks ago, I entered a post on Directors (e.g., Dario Argento) whose films seemed to contain bondage in both quantity + effectiveness, which received one reply.

Then yesterday, an offhand comment on how composer John Cage's 4'33" could be properly staged with multiple backup "singers" receives four posts. Go figure.

My initial feeling was the same, but then I remembered that Catherine Bell received the full-treatment in her first season on the series in "The Stalker" episode, so I doubt the scriptwriters will re-use the exact same plot device years later.

Which was also one of the most infuritating scenes of all-time. After Catherine is quickly tape-gagged onscreen, the stalker and Harm slug it out for about 1 to 2 minutes (an eternity on TV) yet the camera never shows Catherine reacting to the fight scene, although we hear her mmmmpppffing in the background. We then get a sideways shot of her being ungagged.

Details help with stuff like this. From http://www.cbs.com:

"Persian Gulf"

After some mysterious phone calls, Mac realizes that she is being stalked by the Arab terrorist who nearly killed her in Colombia.

There's a video link to the preview at the URL below.

I've been waiting for something like this since the season began. I'm not hugely optimistic, but you never know. To those that reason Mac was B&G'd in "The Stalker," & therefore won't be B&G'd again... was that your opinion after Cordy's abduction in "Parting Gifts?" If so, "Over the Rainbow" must have been quite a shock. :-)

Don't overestimate the originality of scriptwriters (not too mention that there is probably an entirely new team of scriptwriters, who don't even remember 'The Stalker'). Mac-in-peril has definitely not been overused on this show. And this is a really evil terrorist, who will have to have some kind of opportunity to gloat...

This is the first time I have contributed to this list, although I have used the scene database for a while and find it a most useful resource, thanks to all involved.
I think that it may be useful to put details of brief or disappointing scenes in the database as it can save wasting tape on programs that sound as if they may be interesting but turn out to be not so. Recently I noticed a TV magazine description of 'Father Dowling Mysteries': 'The Pretty Baby Mystery' saying something about the mother of an abandoned baby trying to escape kidnappers. I recorded it and about 20 minutes in there is a brief (10 sec) glimpse of a woman tied to a chair in a boiler room. Hands tied to the uprights of the back of the chair with white rope or cloth, no gag. Fully clothed, feet not shown. Would it make the database more useful if the details of this episode were entered to avoid raising false hopes for anyone else?

There has been a discussion of scenes with unnecessary gags, perhaps Spun is an instance of an unnecessary blindfold as both times when she is left alone he puts tape over her eyes in addition to (understandably due to the neighbours) her mouth. Unlike in a kidnap situation where the kidnappers do not want to be seen I cannot think of a reason to blindfold her unless it is just to keep her aroused until his return? There may be a clue in the rest of the film, which I have not seen (and it sounds as if I would not want to).
Any other instances of unnecessary blindfolds?

Record number: 8366

Title: Vector File, The (2002)
Medium: Movie
Actress: Catherine Oxenberg, India Oxenberg

Description: Two scenes for Catherine in this thriller starring Casper Van Dien(real life hubby). In the first she finds a man in her house: he push her on a bed then ties her wrist (behind) and ankles with plastic cuffs; She's freed by her real life daughter India. After a brief runaway they are both caught and tied back to back to chairs and tape gagged. The bondage is a little loosie, but the two stay in this position for several minutes. They have a large red cord that wraps them to the chairs and the feet tied with plastic cuffs: no wrists restrain.

5 entries in the DB for Ms. Oxenberg, not a bad DID record.
She can "hang" out on this page anytime.....

Hey Jacklyn..yes I've watched that movie "All for Lust". Was Samantha Sterling the girl cuffed to the bed by one hand only and gagged, with the bomb? If so, I thought her name was Nikki Fomosa.

Anyway, what was with that "only-cuff-one-wrist-to-the-bed" business? I'm curious...did the director actually say "only cuff one hand & we'll pretend she can't remove her gag with the other hand? How do those things work?

My feelings exactly. One of the great wasted scenes of all time in my view. I thought about this scene during the recent discussions of scenes that really didn't require gags. It's to even out scenes like this.
