Monday February 20 00:46:17 2006 Question for discussion |
I received the following in email, I won't mention who from. I will let you read the message and then give my thoughts, you all can chime in.
I am planning to launch a website that is somewhat of a continuation of your site. It will be sort of a combination of a blog and an e-zine, with periodic updates. Part of the site will be contributors opinions about certain topics. The recent thread on your page about 'Bondage Triggers' is a perfect example of the kind of topic I'll be soliciting contributions for. Here is my question for you: Would you mind if I archived on my website some of the posts made to your discussion page concerning certain topics which have taken place in the last couple of years? (Basically I'll just cut and paste). I tend to imagine that the contributors to your page wouldn't mind having their posts placed (in context) on my site. But, I'd like your opinion. My feelings on the matter are two-fold. 1. The basic concept is fine, something like that was suggested when we were discussing the Ezine. However, I don't think cut and paste messages from the forums here are a very good direction. If such a project is going to be useful, it should try to break new ground. Using some of the ideas that come up are fine. 2. There's a very real intellectual property issue, both from a copyright stance and just common courtesy. I don't necessarily assume that people who post here would be fine with someone else using what amounts to their original work without permission. Now, we aren't talking Shakespeare, but still. |

I'd say that your two responses both make sense.
#1, of course, is neither here nor there in terms of what your correspondent wants to do (whether the page breaks new ground or not may or may not affect his level of satisfaction with it), but as regards #2, I do tend to think that just copy and paste is not the way to go, in terms of linking to this community here. Maybe general topic headings that reference conversations we've had here, with an invitation posted here (with Brian's permission) to come over and elaborate on the new page. |

I think it's more of a courtesy issue than a copyright one, if you don't mind me saying. No one is selling their words of wisdom here, and you don't charge- since almost all suits of any kind have to be based on monetary damages, I can't imagine how or why anyone would sue. Both copying AND provable damages are necessary. That said, it would be a low-class thing for someone to just rip off this site, though again, since it is pretty much anomoynous (sp?), I wonder who would really mind if they were quoted. |

I appreciate now knowing what came before, but believe it or not if you keep watching till the very end, there is even more. Kellie is sleeping in a hospital bed after her ordeal on the boat and she gets a decent enough hand gag that wakes her from her sleep. This happens right about the 1 hour 58 mark, so you can add that to all else that happened. |

Monday February 20 07:16:54 2006 Afflack Commercial |
Hello ALl,
I just caught a new commercial for Afflack Insurance and it has the classic woman tied to the tracks with tons of rope bit as the Afflack mascot (a duck) tries to save her. It's shot in black and white with quick cuts, very tongue and cheekly of course, but cool none the less. |

I've seen no indication of any scene potential in the new trailers. But I suppose anything is possible. |

The new site, in theory, sounds like a good idea from a well intentioned person who wants the discussions that start with mainstream media scenes here to grow longer and (maybe) more personal or at least more detailed (that's cool). The desired association (as in a simple link) with this site in terms of poster awareness seems fine but the proposed new site should start fresh with new content, new rules, and borrow nothing from this site in terms of old content, imho, for several reasons, some of which you have already stated. I say leave it up to the posters if they want their opinions (or exact words) on both sites; let the (original) posters carry threads or even their own quotes where they want, and if they want it to stay just here, let that be their option. But keep your site as is, Mr. Mod, it's a good site; private and respectful. |

In her first scene, she did a nice headlift to reveal she's tape-gagged. In addition, both damsels on the boat were barefoot with feet tied with duct tape. Hands also tied behind with duct tape. We get one closeup of KM, with the second having the bad guy's hand coming in to rip off the tape gag. The movie went out of its way to show Kellie Martin at her sexiest. In opening scene, we get tons of skin shots in a bed scene, and later when the 2nd damsel is handgagged, Kellie strips off her shirt down to just a black bra in her shower pre-scene. Plus, multiple outfit changes all looked very nice, including the finale outfit of flowered summer skirt with black tank top. Next airing on Lifetime: Thursday, March 9, at 7 p.m. eastern. |

Monday February 20 18:24:43 2006 Dark Corners |
Just caught a snatch of behind the scenes footage from this on Film 2006 and it looks quite promising in a Single White Female sort of way.
Thora Birch plays two women who covet each other's lives according to Jonathan Ross. He also highlighted the fact that the film features "Chains and coffins" Got me thinking as well. Are there any examples of films with actresses in dual roles where one charector either ties up or unties her alter ego? |

Pamela Anderson in her first B&G scene in "Snapdragon." Justina Vail in "7 Days." Lisa Howard in "Counterstrike." Distant scene. |

Monday February 20 20:36:29 2006 Live Once, Die Twice |
I just watched this movie on Lifetime, and enjoyed the bondage scene immensely; not one, but TWO hotties bound and gagged with duct tape at the conclusion! Our debt of gratitude to the writers of Lifetime movies is incalculable!
I was wondering whether anyone has composed a Database Entry for this movie, otehrwise I'd like to do it myself. |

Just for general information, the movie that aired on Lifetime as "Live Once, Die Twice" can be found on imdb.com under the title "Platinum Rush" and is listed as being in the "filming" stage. And Kellie Martin's lovely partner in bondage, playing the part of Zoe, is Cindy Sampson. She is from Canada. (I think she has kind of a Angie Harmon look to her.)(That's a good thing.)
And a special thanks to CM for catching this movie yesterday and posting about it here! |

You know how discussion-friendly I am, Mr. Mod. and I'll be glad to contribute my opinions, which are worth EVERY PENNY that people pay for them, to such a site. But I do think copying posts does raise potential copyright issues that would better be left untouched. it does strike me that it would be OK to paraphrase some of the ideas on the site if it's OK with you. Something like: "The DiD otaku at Brianspage had an interesting discussion of imagery that formed "bondage triggers", i.e., triggered their interestin watching scenes that involve bondage imagery. What do you think?" In this manner, the new site isn't copying anyone in particular's post, just reporting on a discussion that went on at another message board. I also think it's worth noting that it can be difficult to get people interested in discussions of DiD scenes that are complex. Just because you build it, it isn't necessarily true that they will come. |
