DID black &white classics
Seeing the post mentioning Veronica Lake in "This gun for hire" has me thinking...perhaps with your help...just what people feel is the all time best black and white era DID scene. My vote is for Maureen O'Hara in "Jamaica Inn".

How about Jane Russell in "The Outlaw"? A favourite scene from the old Superman TV series? What am I forgetting?

Yes she was one of the best DID. Great casting for the role of WW. I have the episodes Hot Wheels and Deadly Dolphin. Great scenes with that black cleave they always used.

clear tape gags
Hi i'm new to the internet but just wanted to say a big thanks to all who contribute to these pages and websites its made what used to be a tricky and often fruitless pursuit a whole load easier. Can anyone out there reccommend any films with clear/translucent tape gags in though please? I've searched the database and managed to get hold of the doom generation, Anatomie 2, Midnight ride and 2001 a sapce travesty. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any others out there? Thanks.

Pricilla Pressley has a scene in Naked Gun: 2 1/2.

It's an OTM gag if I remember correctly. It's not overly tight, but PP was a heck of a damsel....even though she was a bit older. :)

I'll be putting up 'Unhappily ever after' next week with Nikki Cox B&G'd on the bed in skis - cute scene.

Hard to say best, as afew favourites.
B&G'd in the net scene in Daughter of Don Q serial up there.

The lighter trick in Xue sa jin qian (1936) aka Blood-stained Money
not bad either

Bit of humour here
Secret Agent, ep: "A Sting in the Tail" was one of my favourites, based on a collector who took some creative liberties with the dubbing.
When it later aired on TV, I was disappointed to learn how quick the scene really was. :)

Fay Wray in "King Kong" is a classic favorite of mine. "Zombies on Broadway" has a couple of nice scenes, though too short.

Could not remember the film title for the life of me, but I got lucky when I typed "stoned" into the description field, and viola...

Record number: 9026
Title: Crime Scene (2003)
Medium: Movie
Actress: Unknown
Description: There is a brief scene in which a woman and her boyfriend are being questioned by the detective. She's rather stoned, and keeps interrupting.
After one such incident, we see the detective's vexed expression, and next we see the woman with a piece of tape over her mouth. There are three or four nice closeups and some gag talk. There are no bonds, however.

Holly Robinson in "Mr. Cooper" and Karyn Parsons in "Fresh Prince" (both wearing very nice white tape gags), and a few scenes from "Married with Children" (unfortunaely, Christina Applegate was the only regular female not B&G.)

Jane Russell in Outlaw, Fay Wray in KK, and Maureen in Jamaica Inn are all wonderful scenes.
Only, Maureen O'Hara made another scene, and that gets my vote. The Black Swan. Especially the last part- her pretty dress, beautiful looks, and desperate struggling- that gets her no way, MUST be No 1 IMHO. (I am not a gag fan).
You can see caps at HtF's site-search Der Seeraüber (The pirate) These caps are colored; but it must have been done at a later date. The movie is from 1942.

There's a site...I never kept it bookmarked, lost and found it about a dozen times in 6 years, called Mr. Irony or something like that- it's all the book scenes, just as Brian's Page is all the VCR alerts. Especially Girl Detectives, but romance, sci fi, mystery- he had a giant database going. I don't know if it still exists, but he had the Nancy Drew list.

Remember also, that ND had many diff series- the old yellow-spine hardbacks, but also several versions of paperback series- the earliest of which included illustrations, many including the D-i-D scenes.

I left all my ND books when I moved, but I'll post if I can remember any. These especially:

Don't Look Twice (Nancy snatched by someone mistaken identity)
Emerald-eyed cat mystery
Hit & Run Holiday
Dangerous Moves (or maybe Dangerous Curves)

EE cat mystery had an extended scene- Nancy struggles free, then has to re-gag herself and act tied up when she realizes she can't escape her current location, & doesn't want to tip her captors that she's free.

If "Mr. Irony" isn't still up (and its been a long time since I checked) Is anyone interested in using the same Brian's Page setup to start such a site?
-good luck, val

Ohh-thanx. I stand corrected-not for the first, nor -I expect-the last time-in this forum.
I wouldn't have thought they could make color movies in 1942.

Color or no color, IS a nice scene still........

Trace possible
Suburban mom goes missing tonight on "Without a Trace." This show has been a major disappointment the last two seasons as it seems every time a female goes missing, it winds up being the female is just hiding or is on her own kidnapping plot.

On same subject, which network shows have infuriated you the most this season for lack of scenes based on good premises. My picks.

1. "Bones". This show has been a nightmare. Not one scene even with a guest. Bad ratings might help before the season ends.
2. "Numbers"
3. "Without a Trace"
4. Lifetime's "Missing."

Re: DID black &white classics
Per wrote:

First colour movie process, Kinemacolor, invented in Brighton, 1906.

First feature-length colour film was "Cupid Angling", starring Ruth Roland, in 1918.

First full colour full talkie was Warner Bros' "On With The Show", 1929.

None of these had a DiD scene, afaik, but an early silent DiD classic in black and white was "At the Villa Rose", in which a girl is kidnapped and very thoroughly b&g by murder conspirators.

Should mention for the Trades Page post for Hadji,
that it was yellow-spine one.

I am also looking forward to Smallville tonight. From last week's previews, there is a "potential" gag around the neck of Lois (Erica Durance). Scene also has Chloe (Allison Mack) strpped to a chair.

Re: DID black &white classics
My black and white fave is Anne Gwynne in "The Black Cat" (the 1941 mystery with Broderick Crawford as the romantic lead (!), not the 1934 Karloff horror film-- confusing, as Bela Lugosi appears in both!).

Anyway, this one covers several nice kinks: our blond damsel is in her nightdress (and probably barefoot? Don't recall) when she's knocked out by the villainess, and carried off B & G (hands behind, cloth OTM gag) over the other woman's shoulder. Couple scenes, not terribly lengthy, but not "blink and you miss it" either.

Close second for me: the ever-tasty Valerie Hobson in "Bride of Frankenstein".

The feature film version of My Favourite Martian has a great tongue in cheek scene for the lovely Liz Hurley.

Lava (currently up on Major Johns) is a black comedy and Nicola Stapleton's scenes are very funnny in places.

A 1980's British sitcom Pig in the Middle had a memorable scene for Joanna Van Gyseghem, bound and gagged with neckties on camera.

And let us not forget the comedy classic Whoops Apocalypse with Princess Wendy (Joanne Pearce) bound and gagged in the back of the Orgazmatron.

Hollyoaks Back from the Dead
Here in dear old Blighty we have a soap opera called Hollyoaks, which is full of beautiful teenagers. Most of them couldn't act their way out of a paper bag but hey-ho.

Next week they are showing a 4 part spin off 'Back from the Dead' Here's the synopses for episodes 3 &4

The brand new late night Hollyoaks mini series, Hollyoaks: Back from the Dead continues. Coming down from the effects of the GHB, Nicole (Ciara Janson), finds herself in a warehouse in the clutches of a smiling Andy (Warren Brown). Mel (Cassie Powney ) continues her search for Andy and it feels like drink is the only thing that's keeping her going. After a night in the cells, Mandy (Sarah Jayne Dunn), Louise (Roxanne McKee) and Clare (Samantha Rowley) are in full bickering mode. But just who is Sean (Matthew Jay Lewis), and why is Louise so keen to get away? Dir: Eddy Marshall; Writer: Chris Gill; Prod Co: Mersey

01:45 HOLLYOAKS: BACK FROM THE DEAD 00:30 The brand new late-night Hollyoaks mini series, Hollyoaks: Back from the Dead concludes. Nicole (Ciara Janson) is tied up as Andy (Warren Brown) prepares to rape her, and there's nothing Sam (Louis Tamone) and Russ (Stuart Manning) can do to help her... Saved from the psychopathic woman, Mandy (Sarah Jayne Dunn), Louise (Roxanne McKee) and Clare (Samantha Rowley) are free to enjoy what's left of their holiday. Louise is troubled by the intimate and fractured past she shares with Sean (Matthew Jay Lewis), but what about the future? Dir: Eddy Marshall; Writer: Nick Saltrese; Prod Co: Mersey

Sounds okay doesn't it? and if anyone's wondering what she looks like:

More news as it happens.

Well, probably my *third* favorite B&W scene of all time is pretty funny.

From the database:

Record number: 336

Title: My Favorite Spy (1942)
Medium: Movie
Actress: Ellen Drew, Jane Wyman

Description: Not the Bob Hope film. Band leader Kay Kyser plays himself as a nebbish recruited by Uncle Sam to infiltrate a ring of spies; he is to do this by acting unpleasant and un-American (all played for laughs, mind you, at the height of WWII), to attract the spies' attempts to recruit him. His wife, Ellen Drew (not in on the secret), leaves in disgust.

The night she picks to return, the feds have G-Gal Jane Wyman posing as Kay's wife while he meets the spies. Jane takes Ellen to another room to explain things; from behind, she pulls down her coat, pinning her arms, and hand-gags her.

Later, Kay goes to check on Ellen; he hears much mmpphh-ing coming from a closet, and opens the door: there she is, sitting on a chair, hands bound behind it, ankles tied to the legs with scarves, gagged with dark cloth over her mouth, squirming, grunting, and glaring daggers. He does his best to explain, and leaves her.

Later, Jane goes to check on her -- Ellen has freed herself, and grabs Jane, who now finds herself bound in the chair, gagged with a light-colored scarf over her mouth. Ellen smirks and pushes Jane's preposterously large hat down over her eyes as she leaves.

Later, Kay is trying to lead Ellen from the bad guys' hideout; still not trusting him, she screams for all she's worth. Next thing you know, her head, arms, and upper body are wrapped in black cloth, tied with white rope. Kay spends the last part of the film carrying her over his shoulder this way (giving her a sharp spanking at one point, which only quiets her for a second). Her struggles and muffled screams are about as energetic as any I've ever seen.

You'd be safe rolling tape at the 45' mark. The running time for an AMC airing is listed (repeat: "listed") at 93'.

Ginger snaps
I know that this should go on the alerts page, but I can't find the movie listed in my onscreen cable guide so I'm not sure of the time, but I'm pretty sure they will show it at least one more time this month and someone else may be able to find out when it is on.
The movie is Ginger Snaps, back to the beginining.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365265/

It's a were-wolf movie set in 1815 and the two female leads both have some good moments. In the begining of the movie Ginger is hit with a bola type weapon that wraps itself into her mouth like a gag. Later Ginger is bound to a table and gagged and he sister Bridget is bound with her hands behind her. It's a good movie and Showtime beyond has been showing it, but my cable guide is limited.

Re: Nancy Drew
Nancy Drew was the true catalyst into this world for me, back at a very young age. As such, I'm pretty familiar with the books, especially the original yellow bound ones. Here's the listing of books where one (or all) of the girls gets at least bound. Gags often acompany, but not always. I try to explain as best my memory allows.

#3 The Bungalow Mystery (just Nancy, no gag)
#4 Mystery at Lilac Inn (just Nancy, gag, picture)
#5 Secret of Shadow Ranch (all 3 girls, no gags I think)
#6 Secret of Red Gate Farm (all 3 girls, no gags I think)
#11 Clue of the Broken Locket (nancy and another girl, gags)
#14 The Whispering Statue (Nancy, gag I think)
#16 Clue of the Tapping Heels (Nancy, gag, picture)
#19 Quest of the Missing Map (Nancy and a couple other girls)
#21 The Secret in the Old Attic (Nancy, gag)
#27 Secret of the Wooden Lady (Nancy, George, maybe Bess?)
#28 The Clue of the Black Keys (Nancy, gag)
#29 Mystery at the Ski Jump (Nancy, gag)
#30 Clue of the Velvet Mask (Nancy and Bess, blindfolds)
#31 The Ringmaster's Secret (Nancy and George, gags)
#34 The Hidden Window Mystery (all three girls, I think gags)
#36 Secret of the Golden Pavilion (Nancy, gag, Ned also)
#38 Mystery of the Fire Dragon (Nancy x2, Bess w/ Blindfold, another girl, 2 pictures)

I know there a couple more instances in the remaining 18 books of that original series, but I don't remember exactly which ones. However, the above should be a pretty good start. I hope this helps anybody who was interested!

SMALLVILLE
This episode had to be the ultimate tease of all time. About 40 minutes in the bad guy chloroforms soem cutie. When another girl comes to the door she knows something is not right and searches the basement. The first girl is there tied to a chair with a bandanna/scarf, etc. around her neck, impying that she was gagged or blindfolded. The bad guy sees the girl about to free the other and grabs her and ties her up as well. Now the first girl starts to give him lip, so I say good, he'll shut her up by putting the gag around her neck into her mouth. Nope he just let's her yack away. Just goes to show that a bunch of putzes write these shows or maybe they were gonna gag this actress and she made a stink and screamed bloody murder about it, only thing I can figure.
