Monday August 29 14:29:01 2005 "The Magic of Wynn" |
I guess nobody else noticed "The Magic of Wynn" last night. It aired on channel 9 in L.A. Wynn is a very attractive Asian magician, and she did a couple of dramatic escapes in the show. In one she was tied to a T-shaped cross and had to escape before three blindfolded "Samurai" archers shot at her. In another, she was chained up in a building that was set to blow up.
I tried to find information on the show or a photo of Ms. Wynn, but without results. |

The Sydney Penny character is still loose after Friday's explosion. On Monday, she was shown in hiding and being helped by some guy. She's in the witness protection program, so we'll have to wait this one out for the eventual kidnapping. |
Monday August 29 15:14:22 2005 film noir |
I was at the video store today and saw a box set of mystery style old 40s 50s flicks called Film Noir 5 Moives each set, vols 1&2. Volume 2 has a picuture on the cover from a movie titled Narrow Margin, of a girl who looks like shes just had a gagged removed still around her neck. A real thick towel like gag. Another movie in the set called Clash by Night looks promising, A detective transports a gangsters girl to testify on a train. Now there's oppourtunity for some scenes. Has anyone seen these movies? Hopefully some scenes for all of them! Let me know! Thanks |

Correction to my message, the movie about the train is called narrow margin, the other flick with the babe that looks like she was gagged is called Clash by Night. And just to let you know, Clash by Night has Marylin Monroe in the movie. Maybe that is her who looks like she was gagged? Hopefully, that would be a great find!!! Go to Google and punch in Clash by Night for more details. It was released in 1952!!! |

Monday August 29 16:54:00 2005 Scene Id'ing |
Hello, I need help identifying a scene I tape off of the Sci-Fi channel probably four or five years ago. The scene is from an 80's tv show. I think the show was about a really smart scientist or something, and the DID is his secretary. The scene is like this: Hero is talking to badguy with gun, cuts to the DID (blonde girl bound with white rope to chair, black cloth over her mouth) as she pushes chair back with feet. Keeps cutting back and forth until the girl pushes over a bookcase, which falls on the badguy. Then the hero says some stuff to the girl (still bound and gagged and mmmphing).
I had reason to believe the Hero was the guy who played Otter in Animal House, so I looked him up. The only show that seems close to the one I have is Tucker's Wish, but I looked it up in the database and the scene listed isn't it. Maybe it isn't Otter at all. Can anyone help? |

Tim Matheson is the actor who played Otter on "Animal House". Is this the name you typed in? As for the show you mention, it was entitled "Tucker's Witch", and the lead actress was Catherine Hicks. She played the wife of an antiques dealer who possessed supernatural abilities. In one episode, she was bound and gagged inside a sarcophagus. She alerted her husband of her location by causing all the light bulbs in the room to fail, except for the one directly above the coffin. She wasn't gagged with a black cloth, however, but rather with white tape. |

---- It's from Parker Stevenson's short-lived TV series "Probe" ("Black Cats Don't Walk Under Ladders, Do They?"), co-starring Ashley Crowe. User tip: The Scene Database's "Search" functionality is very handy in ID'ing scenes such as this. Just enter the keyword "bookcase". |

JA wrote:
> I was at the video store today and saw a box set of > mystery style old 40s 50s flicks called Film Noir 5… Neither film has scenes, although they are both good films. Narrow Margin was remade into a film of the same title with Gene Hackman, which also contained no scenes. The original Narrow Margin is really a perfect example of a quality b-picture. No tie-ups, however. And as for Clash by Night: nada. Besides, I think we'd know if Marilyn Monroe had ever been cleaved gagged with a thick towel. On the film noir issue: there was another b-movie film noir called The Brasher Debloom, aka, The High Window (the original Chandler title), whose poster has a shot of the heroine cleave gagged. However, I once taped the movie as a youngster and the tv version had no scene. I was quite disappointed. It seems like the kind of flick that could end up in one of those sets, so if you see it, it might be worth a shot. No entry for it in the database. Can anyone vouch for it having a scene? If not, can anyone think of another poster that showed a b&g'd scene that in fact does not exist? Seems odd to me. The poster wasn't illustrated; it was an actual photo. If it does not appear in the film, it would be quite interesting that they still chose to depict the cut scene on promotional material. I guess they knew that there was an audience for it. 1947. I wonder if any of our grandfathers still curse the movie for gettting their hopes up? I'll search for an image of the poster, although it's pretty obscure. |

I recall reading once upon a time (maybe even here on BP) that the Brasher Doubloon scene apparently met the same fate as Susanne Pleshette's scene in The Power; that is, it wound up on the cutting room floor. I believe the first mention I ever saw of a scene was in Alan Marburger's book, but I don't recall what he said. As far as other scenes, how about this: Record number: 765 Title: Dick Tracy (1945) Medium: Movie Actress: Anne Jeffreys Description: Tess Trueheart (Jeffreys) has been kidnapped, and is in the hold of a ship. Tied up and gagged with cloth over the mouth, but a fairly short scene. Tess also endures a superb hand-gag from Splitface (Mike Mazurki) -- he interrupts her during a phone call to Tracy. First he sneaks up and grabs her, then he holds her as he taunts Tracy on the other end of the phone. Tess pants and claws at Splitface's big hand over her lovely face. Classic. There is a publicity still from this film, showing Anne Jeffreys and Jane Greer cleave gagged and menaced by Splitface. Alas, nothing like that is in the movie. |

I think the scene of interest is going to start tomorrow on La Madastra on Univision, but don't know for certain, so I won't post an alert. At the end of today's episode, there's an attractive blonde woman and a putz both passed out and two women are handling what looks like some string or rope. |
