Night Court
It seems TV Land is having a "Night Court" marathon next Sunday. The Cop and the Lady episode is on at 1pm, CST. Wasn't there another episode, where a burglar ties Harry and Christine back to back?

It wasn't Harry & Christine. It was Harry & another woman. I think her name was Billie, but I can't swear to that.

The actress is Ellen Foley and I believe the scene is from the first season.

Billie was the first Assist. District Attorney character in the series, played by Ellen Foley. (See URL below.) Markie Post's character was the *2nd* ADA. My memory is foggy, but I recall the scene in question as being rather cute; contrived, like all such comedic DiD-scenes; but cute. :-) Incidently, in that role, so was Ellen Foley (Rock Star *&* actress); *cute*, that is.

Argento definitely has a bondage thing going on in his head. As for the lovely Asia, I can think of at least four scenes featuring her:

1. Stendahl Syndrome - the tape gag came off way too quick, but she was tied to the bed for a while.

2. Everybody Loves Viola - A nice tape gag, hands bound behind scene. Two good close ups.

3. Love Bites - Duct taped with her legs spread to a bunch of pipes while the bad guy stuffs a black rag in her mouth.

4. Trauma - strapped down to a hospital bed.

And let's not forget Asia directed the scene of her friend hog-tied and ballgagged in "Scarlet Diva"

Ah....Asia

Van, as he almost always is, is both first and totally right. For those who care, and if you have an ounce of rock in your soul, you should.. The album and the artist are both immortal.. Bat Out of Hell by Meatloaf. And one of the many classics therein was Paradise by the Dashboard Lights. Surely one of the greatest song titles ever... take that country music. Mr. Loaf verbally dueled it out with a super sexy, hot female.. and that, gentlemen, was Ellen Foley.. who comically or not, looks terrific tied up.

The author Dean Koontz may have a penchant for female bondage as well. Several of his novels feature lenghty and vividly described scenes with bound and gagged damsels. Two of the best ones that come to mind occur in "Cold Fire" and "The Voice of the Night".

It seems to me that female bondage is a rather frequent occurence in Italian cinema and television. This observation is based on my own personal observations, and has not been scientifically substantiated. Can anyone corroborate this observation, or is it pure conjecture based on an inadequate sample size?
Our esteemed colleague Panty might be very well qualified to answer my question.

I've always wondered about this too. I have a lot of international TV-movie bondage scenes and certain countries just seem to be more prolific than others.
It'd be interesting to know what Brent Smith, Fuzz, Rob, Jay and the Major, H and the others with large collections think too, but a quick scan of my lists, in descending order of appearances are:
1. Great Britain (perhaps because those scenes are easier for us to acquire)
2. Germany
3. Mexico/South America
4. Japan
5. Italy
6. Hong Kong
7. Canada (counting shows/movies made there for that market primarily, ie. DaVinci's Inquest)
8. Spain
9. France
10. Phillipines
Other countries represented in my collection, but not in overwelming numbers: India, Belgium/Netherlands, (mainland)China, Norway, Sweeden, Portugal, Ireland, Israel.
I don't know what that says about the culture of those countries, or people of that ethnicity, and I suppose that isn't a politically correct topic anyway.
I used to think it was hot-weather countries, or places with a sensual or emotional reputation (ie. Italy, Mexico) that had the most, but as far as I know Japan isn't a hot place in any sense of that term.
The US of course is hugely out front, but I believe that is more a function of the size and global reach of our entertainment industry.

I believe there's definitely a difference in attitude between Europeans and English speaking western nations. I recall a show about television ads, where they had 2 women commenting on the erotic nature of various showings. One woman was French, the other from the U.S.A. They viewed an ad that involved a woman tied up in a swimming pool. What struck me is that the French womans only comment was in the way the rope was crossed around the subjects neck. She thought that it may restrict breathing. She didn't seem phased at all by the bondage, almost as if it is a fully accepted erotic practice amongst the general populace, where as the American girl was a little taken by the upfrontness of bondage in what was as far as I could tell, a mainstream television commercial, airing somewhere in the world. I was a bit disapointed that there was no gag, that's all. But the point is, the rope crossing the girls neck was the only thing the French woman objected to.

Has anyone seen this movie yet?

Whilst looking around, I found these pics which looks like 4 damsels tied to a staircase (including Monica Keena & Christina Milian!) with plastic cuffs- can anyone confirm/deny that this actually takes place or is it just wishful thinking on my part?

I'm completing a sort of personal database of scenes all around the world. Since I'm italian I know a lot of italian scenes which are unknown abroad. According to my stats, Italy is the most prolific country in terms of movie scenes (except for USA of course) with more than 300 titles, but it's a little poor in television scenes. Japan is probably the best country in television scenes: I've counted over than 500 scenes, not counting "jidai" ones (the historical ones). Canada is in a good position in both charts; Hong Kong is very strong in movies, but we know too little about its television. Also Great Britain is of course strong in both charts, while Germany is specialized in Tv-movie scenes (almost 200) and is good also in television series. India and Mexico are probably under-rated, because we don't know much about their complete filmography, but Mexico is also good in "telenovela" scenes (the best after USA soaps).
The point is that we all know well our country's DID-ology, but the informations we have about the others are still incomplete, though this forum and the relative database are a great help for us all.

Thank you all for your prolific and thoughtful responses to my post. I would like to apologize for accidentally triple-posting, and thank you, Mr. Moderator, for not deleting my original post.
It seems that my conjecture may be substantiated by a kernel of truth, from the contents of the responses my initial post generated. Female bondage may be a more frequent occurrence in Italian mass media, and in European mass media as well. We can only speculate as to the reason for this, provided it is true.
I recall an Italian comic strip whose protagonist was a hero who wore a skintight black costume, and was forever rescuing his love interest, a beautiful woman who wore her hair in a bun. She was almost always bound and gagged when being rescued, and her gag was usually a white strip of tape. This comic strip was made into a movie; I'd consult the voluminous Scene Database, but I can't recall the title.

Actually, Ellen Foley was a Public Defender, not an ADA. Plus, she wasn't the 1st Public Defender. If memory serves (not 100% sure) an African American woman was the 1st Public Defender on Night Court.
This was the 1st year of Night Court, when Dan Fielding wasn't as much of a womanizer, Bull had hair & Selma Diamond chain-smoked her way through the show

Don't know about reasons, but I remember browsing the "making of" book of the Gwendoline movie in Forbidden Planet (a London SF and fantasy bookshop) back in the '80s. The intro said the film eventually came to be made in France because "le ligotage" was seen there more as a regular part of sexy fun than in the more uptight US and UK.

As for bondage in Italian movies, I need only say "Il Vicino di Casa." Sigh.....

Just one of many masterly scenes, of course, and Germany has her fair share of extremely well done ones, too.

I could circumnavigate the EU with this thread, but that would take all night. :-)

Ahhhhh, man. Christina Milian blows me away, she's ridiculously hot. I'd kill to see her in a full-blown gag scene, though this looks VERY interesting. I'll get on trying to clip the scene. As a gag snob, even I can't resist a tied Milian.

The surprise DVD hit of the summer is this compilation of the film series (nothing on topic here). It includes one episode of the tv series. I remember reading once about a lengthy scene on the tv show, with Nora bound in a car, using her nose to honk the horn, etc. Hopefully the success of the DVD will inspire someone to get the tv show out of the vaults (I think its been on TNT) as there are a number of other scenes as well.

I don't think this is the movie to which I referred. The movie I recall featured TWO damsels bound and gagged, both of them brunettes. The first one was the heroine, who was bound and gagged with white tape. She was struggling bound and gagged on a bed and being taunted by the villain's female sidekick. She somehow turned the tables on her captor, who wound up bound and gagged herself.
