Ashley Tisdale could have slipped out at any time with that sloppy ropework. Also up for a Lame-o Award. Rope wrapped around the upper body only? Her hands by her side? At least have some sloppy ropework on her wrists. Miley Cyrus on Halloween was better than this. |

There seems to have been a case of mistaken identity on this message board. Vanessa Marcil's character is named Sam, and Molly Sims' character is named DELINDA; the episode was entitled "DELINDA'S Box". It was Molly Sims who was the kidnap victim, NOT Vanessa Marcil. The episodes airing tonight and next Friday night are not the ones in which Ms. Marcil is bound and gagged in a trunk. |

Just started in the last minute of Thursday's episode. Hadn't been paying much attention to this one - then I remembered I had seen something on YT a few months ago - definite excellent scene coming up sometime (no idea when it happens, but I don't believe that it has occured yet) with the lead cutie getting bound and gagged in a barn, nice dress, purple cleave gag - scene is in several of these clips so it should be fairly long. Started immediate taping of this show - the current scene was a nice surprise. |

Almost makes me regret my decision not to bother with soap scenes. They sure seem to be popping lately, what with the two gals tied to the rr tracks and now this. It's as if the ladies like this sort of thing even more than us. BTW, there's another Isaulda clip on Youtube that shows a cute brunette chained to a whipping post AOH, having a long conversation with some guy who's chained to the same post. That Isaulda is one productive soap. |

Clips are now up for "Shooter" with Kate Mara. Pleased to say that she is gagged in the black and white footage but it is hard to see. Clips are very short.
Also, the "Zodiac" hogtie scene for Pell James is a uploaded for those who havent got it yet. |

I don't know if it has a make or model number, but it's what suicidal slaves were forced to wear so they couldn't take poison. Any blacksmith could knock one up in an hour or two. Note that the mouthpiece is perforated; the gag or brank has no silencing effect. |

My theory (and I'm standing by it) is that if it's well-designed enough to prevent self-poisoning but also to allow easy hydration and administration of let's-just-call-it-yogurt, it's a greater feat than most blacksmiths could manage in an hour. In the BBC's 1998 mini-series "A Respectable Trade", set in Bristol in the late 18th century, slaves fresh from Africa are imprisoned in a merchant's cellar while being trained as domestic servants. One of the women, desperate and suicidal, eats soil from the basement floor in an attempt to kill herself. A gag is commissioned from the local blacksmith, and we see it being made. The poor girl is then seen wearing it. IIRC, she later dies anyway. Sorry, I can't remember the character's name, and thus the actress's, but the series is in the IMDb, and available on DVD. Quite apart from the branking, it's a superb piece of historical drama, brilliantly directed and acted. |

Such branks were apparently common enough for blacksmiths in slave-owning communities to keep templates. |

Here's the gag from "Respectable Trade." Same one, alrighty. I lightened the image a lot with Photoshop so its design would be more evident. I'm not sure if the things on her throat are artifacts created by all that lightening, or something in the pic. |

Saturday July 14 12:01:19 2007 Re Esclavia etc |
The similarity between the Respectable Trade gag and the Esclavia gag is so great, and so unlike any other gag, that I wonder if they aren't using the same historical sources for their info on how the gags looked, or if Esclavia was copied from Respectable Trade. It would seem weird, though, for a Spanish soap to copy something like that from an obscure BBC production. I mean, this board is probably the only place in the world that would pick up on this stuff ... |

I'll have to do some research, but an excellent French-language (Belgian?) series of bande dessinee books, set at sea in the late 18th century, has a frame of a slave girl wearing exactly the same brank. As ships and costumes are drawn exquisitely perfect to the last period detail, I should say it was copied from a museum exhibit somewhere. A blacksmith would have all the flat iron bar in stock, and the mouthpiece might be made from an oval nameplate, also a common item. I've seen a farrier fit four horses with bespoke shoes on a canal wharf in a morning, so this would be a quick and simple item for a busy urban blacksmith used to working in wrought iron. Wish I could remember the name of the author and series! I used to have some of them, though not the one with the brank, but lent them to someone with whom I've lost touch. They were published in the 1970s. |

Just saw a commercial for both episodes tomorrow, but started out like a preview for the entire season. Well, I saw a brunette with both hands bound in front of her. There were at head height and strapped to something like a hook or post. No gag either. It continued with the preview for both shows tomorrow night, but the storyline didn't match or related to the scene.
Just a heads up for a scene later this season, if not tomorrow but I doubt it will be that soon. |

No, new season premeires general occur in late Sept and early Oct. I was just posting the title for Season 5 Ep 2. I thought the one for Skin Trade maybe a 10% of something, but names are generally misgiving. Saturday July 14 20:00:40 2007 Re: Chupacabra Terror |
there's a video alert up for Chupacabra Terror at 11 pm EST tonight on the SciFi Channel, but the description from the database does not make especially clear why this is such a great scenes. Basically, hot blonde with large breasts wearing a very tight shirt tied up with ropes running above and below her breasts, whose response to the sight of the monster she's been tied up as bait for is to scream repeatedly, and to vigorously shake her enormous ta-tas repeatedly.
It is to my mind the second best breast shaking while in bondage in mainstream, right after Die Watching which involved enormous nude breasts, hence is superior. Sadly, the damsel's breasts are apparently enclused in an industrial strength bra, as there's almost no floppage when she shakes so vigorously. If her breasts been allowed to "flop freely under flimsy fabric" (say it three times fast, I dare you!) it would be number one, because the damsel gets away unharmed in this one. |

Heh...yeah, Pat, I see your point. I (and it looks like at least one other) tried in the DB. There are times when one risks getting just too hyperbolic about how much fun a scene is, and this may be one of them. I mean, I'd consider it one of the ten best DiD scenes of all time, but you don't always want to write that in a database, because it's so subjective. If they'd gone for a reshoot featuring a gag, something to keep those frantically kicking legs together, and free 3D glasses so that we could see *those* in motion in all their glory, I'm pretty sure none of us would be sleeping tonight. |

Somewhere in the back of my ageing, addling mind is a memory of an engraving or very early photograph in a TV documentary on slavery. It's almost identical to the Bourgeon drawing. In para 3 of http://www.yale.edu/glc/archive/1072.htm Frederick Douglass, a former slave, mentions gagging as a frequent punishment. Other accounts I found refer to the scold's bridle type of brank being used in Jamaica to suppress speech. |
