| Did anyone see Mythbusters on Discovery this past weekend? Red Head Kari Byron gets to experience Chinese water torture on a wooden rack. She was shackled with her hands above her head and shackles on her ankles. She was also wearing a cut out “mask” which kept here from moving her head. It was very different for the Discovery channel. | It is said that Scarlett Johanson will play the Black Daliah in an upcoming movie. I beleive elizabeth Smart was a part time prostitute who specialized in fetish (ie bondage)sex acts before she was killed and the crime never solved. |

Im correcting these facts just to keep the speculation on a potential for bondage scenes in the film accurate. For starters, Elizabeth SHORT (not Smart) was still a VIRGIN when she died, she was definitly NOT a prostitute, and was NEVER connected to a fetish or bondage sex scene. I could cite sources for this info, but that's going far off-topic. However, back to the topicality part of this post. Since she was held captive for many days, there will probably still be something of interest for us along the lines of being restrained at some point in the film. I expect some rope restraints to occur in the movie. |

She was an aspiring actress originally from Massachussetts, whose lack of success in procuring steady employment led her to frequent bars and cajole drinks and money from gullible men. She wasn't a prostitute, but her lifestyle was somewhat shadowy and not completely legitimate. In any case, she was found gruesomely murdered in a remote alley in Los Angeles; the police detective investigating the case speculated that she had made a poor choice in men one night. A fictionalized version of her story was written by James Ellroy, the famous author of detective noir novels. In the book, the detective investigating her murder does indeed solve the crime, but is unable to disclose the identity of the murderer or bring the murderer to justice because of political reasons. The crime is recounted in horrific, graphic detail, and included in the recounting is mention of Elizbeth Short being bound and gagged. The book is entitled, "The Black Dahlia"(what else?), and is a riveting, intelligently written mystery. The plot refelcts the innate, indelible cynicism of the author, and, as in all his novels, none of the characters is truly a moral, honest, and benevolent individual. |

This was discussed awhile back when it originally aired, in fact before it even aired thanks to a blurb on the Discovery Channel's website. I agree, it's a great scene, one of my favorites of this past season. |
