Re: Asia Argento
Ah, it's so refreshing to hear of new Asia converts! I've been drooling over the lovely Asia since her topless scene in her Dad's movie "Trauma" when she was only 16 or so.

As for her bondage moments, there are three worth mentioning:

1. The Stendahl Syndrome - Tied down to a mattress with wires and gagged with white tape that's ripped off two seconds after we see her. What follows is as brutal a rape scene as you'll ever see...all the more shocking that it was her own father behind the camera.

2. Love Bites - This French vampire film (still not sure what it was about) features a scene near the end where the black clad Asia is duct taped to pipes with her legs spread and arms outstretched. Whoever the guy is, he takes a black cloth and stuffs it into her mouth while molesting her in some way. She keeps the cloth in her mouth, emoting greatly with her eyes.

3. Viola Bacia Tutti - An Italian comedy of some sort, she's a girl on the run who gets mixed up with a trio of losers. At one point, she apparently is grabbed by an old business partner. We see Asia on the floor with the guy standing over her. Her hands are tied behind her and she's gagged with what appears to be tan colored tape. A short scene, but a nice one.

Asia is not to everyone's tastes. She's an original and it's understandable that some would be turned off by her. "XXX" was not her finest moment. But see her in "Land of the Dead", "B.Monkey", "Scarlet Diva"...she's something else.

Speaking of "Scarlet Diva", there's a great bondage scene there with her discovering a friend who's been left bound and gagged for a few days by an abusive girlfriend.

Ah, Asia...

Their soaps not as good as the United States for scenes of course, but not bad.

Favorite black and white scenes?
The 30s-50s is my favorite period of time for scenes. I love almost all of these scenes, as they almost always include a pretty damsel with her legs bound, and hose and heels are my favorite aspect of bondage. What are some great scenes that you remember from this period? I love such ones as "This Gun For Hire". Perfect scene. And when I finally see the "My Favorite Spy" scene, my life will be complete. So, post away!

Site Update.
Sofyan Syarief now gives us the gorgeous Lois Lane (from the Dini/Timm SUPERMAN series) showing off a lot of leg as she's kidnapped in her apartment. Check it out in the guest art section.

Evangeline gives us a flashback at the hospital as she describes the scene to her mother. Lasts about a minute. Footage is mostly the same but may be slightly different and she's narrating about how they were tied up. Happens at the 25 minute mark.

I have got a tape of Family Affairs somewhere too but i doubt my picture quality is much better than yours.

I might dig it out and see if I can compose a synopsis this weekend time permitting but if you get around to it first I won't hold it against you.
I'm actually wondering if my copy is good enough to forward to the Major, to be honest I doubt it, but I'll determine when I dig it out.

Getting back to my roots, I have prepared a high-res mp3 file of the highlights from Evangeline. Unfortunately, no reference to her gag was made, but there were a few nice nuggets. Enjoy!

I assume you mean the 1942 Kay Kaiser film rather than the Bob Hope Comedy which as far as I recall had nothing.
Great film, two damsels and three scenes.
First Ellen Drew is tied and gagged in the closet, then she escapes leaving Jane Wyman in her place. Later Kay is forced to restrain her with a curtain and some rope and carry her around the enemy's hideout.
I recorded that off BBC2 about 15 years ago, probably still have it somewhere.
Other b&W classics include 'The Black Cat' a great thriller with a prolonged scene at the end in which a b&g damsel was carried through various secret passages to a crematorium where the villian planned to do away with her.

Bit of a long shot here but years a go I saw a still from a film called Sailor Beware! It wasn't the Martin/Lewis film nor the British film of the same name starring Peggy Mount and no other versions exist in the IMDB or any other film guide I can think of.
The still showed a brunette I think laid on a bed, tied hands behind and ankles, OTM gagged. The accompanying synopsis said something about sailors on shore leave tackling a one legged villian. Ring any bells?

ID this film?
Trying to remember the name of this film. It aired on the Animal Planet network about 4 years ago. It was a family adventure set in Africa. I think the parents are veterinarians who work with lions. The teenage daughter is a blonde girl wearing a bright (orange?) shirt and khaki shorts. In the scene in question, she's sitting on a bale of hay in a barn with her hands tied behind, no gag. I think she's untied briefly so that she can eat.

Any idea?

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
In the UK next Tuesday they are showing the two-part finale to the current series airing here, and all I know from the only synopsis I have read is that Tarantino directed, and the plot concerns a kidnapped CSI.

Would I be correct, therefore, in thinking this will be the "Grave Danger" episode?

Thanks.

I've found mine, and it's pretty poor, full of streaks from the worn heads of the old recorder I was using at the time. It's also all over the place, as I was recording both daily and omnibus transmissions to try to get everything. If no one has better recordings, I suppose we'd better send both of ours to the Major in the hope he can assemble a decent clip from them.

Was this story shown in '98 or '99, btw? The show was struggling and trying ever more far-fetched plots to try to grab ratings, hampered by poor acting and geographically patchy transmission. Sound familiar? :-)
Camera work was good, though.

All right, you slackers...
...who have yet to rise to the challenge I laid down over the weekend to get more involved-I've come to your rescue once more and updated my entry for the "One Life to Live" cheerleader-bondage sequence to reflect its having continued yesterday and today, as someone suggested. Since this particular aspect of the storyline petered out today, I don't think any further additions will be necessary. However, since one of the girls vanished after being rescued, there's a possibility that she may end up in another predicament of interest to us, but I'm afraid my soap-opera allergy has kicked up again so if she does, it'll be someone else's turn to craft a database entry and throw it in.

So hop to it, all you budding database authors and editors, and get those registration requests in to the Big Guy, y'hear?

My favorites from this period are Debra Paget in "The Most Dangerous Man Alive,'' Eleanor Hunt in "Yellow Cargo'' which in the mid-1930s may have been the first use of a white tape gag, Allene Roberts in 1950s "Union Station'' and that scene in 1930s Elery Queen movie where the b/g damsel hops to a window and raises all kinds of (ladylike) hell, even keeping the seams in her silk stockings straight.

Fun way to consolidate scenes
I was looking through "Wrong Turn" the other day and I was thinking about some of the other movies Eliza Dushku had been in where she looked (to be a bit blunt) very hot. I started thinking about how it would be neat to compile a bunch of scenes where the DID was shown along with a scene where the actress looked (blunt again) hot.
For example. Show a little bit of Eliza from "Bring it on" and then follow that with the scene from "Wrong Turn"....Maybe show some shots of Loni Anderson fom WKRP and then follow with her crime show shots.
I was trying to come up with some other combinations...thought it might be a good thread to talk about for a bit.

I'm thinking that I've seen that one and the damsel was the very cute Brooke Nevin (she was the reason I sorta kept an eye on the movie, just in case). I was quite happily surprised when she had her hands tied. Too bad she wasn't gagged. This isn't in the database but I'm sure if you looked her up on imdb.com you could figure out the movie pretty quick.

One Life To Live
Wow. Finally got back from vacation and watched through the end of Monday's episode.

OK -- so the ladies didn't try to talk much through their gags. And either the adhesiveness disappeared magically upon rescue, or they were made of some new type of materials.

But so what? Excellent. My only complaint is the quality of the soap, which I will not comment on further.

If anyone wants more, I decided to check out abc.com. There is a fan board for OLTL. It's got some comments people here might find interesting.

P.S.: The Martha Byrne scene on ATWT didn't last for months, but it did go on for at least a couple of weeks.

Interesting topic. I always thought Universal Soldier's scene would have been better if Ally Walker hadn't been rain-drenched and really injured during the scene. She broke a rib (or more than one) when Dolph Lundgren threw her against the car.

But they wanted realism.

I've only seen stills and the Major's small clip, but I wondered the same. Could the gags have been duct tape over something else, perhaps with an elastic element at the back where real sticky tape would have messed up the actresses' hair and been painful to remove? Such a "gag" could be on and off several times while retaining its tightness and wrinkles.

Evangeline's was tight enough to be convincing while being worn, but Natalie's was at the wrong angle, not tight enough and showing considerable thickness at the bottom.
She may have been sucking in her lips in an attempt to make it look tighter than it was. As I find that expression sexy for some weird reason, I'm not complaining.

....except perhaps to say that "quality" and "soap" are mutually exclusive in most cases. :-)

I remember the first showing of "Sunset Beach" on the brand new Channel 5 in the late '90s, and the joyous, incredulous lampooning comments from viewers and link presenters at the end of each ep about the alleged plots, dialogue and acting. The show made a great virtue out being so hilariously crass.

Re: Soaps vs. Prime Time this year
When it comes to Soaps vs. Prime Time, I definitely vote for Soaps. If Telenovelas count, and they should, as Soaps, then I think the answer is obvious. That Ana Lucia Dominguez bondage marathon was has been the highlight of my year as far as DiD goes so far. Also, some solid scenes from Mujer. To top it off, the coup de glace, the One Life to Live scene is rock solid. One of the best scenes to hit American soaps in a looooong time. For a little while, I totally forgot about Rebecca Budig and her lack of a gag in all her scenes.

Can't say that I'm too surprised about this development. While this series promised much for our tastes, it came off as a cheap CSI/L&O knockoff to the broader viewing public.

I respectfully disagree with whomever said that the show's lack of sucesess was due to it airing in the summertime. Several good shows start during mid summer. Bottom line, The Inside just didn't draw.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the last three or four episodes have to offer. After that, I'll move on.

Knot too easily surprised,
