Go back 8 days to be safe. You will see my post and the Rapidshare link to the clip. |

Saturday January 19 07:58:07 2008 early tape gags |
Could anyone reccommend any old scenes (1940's - 1960's?) where tape gags were used in TV or film please? Does anyone know the first film/TV show to feature a tape gag? Thanks |

According to the "First in Bondage" listing we developed a few years ago, the first was Eleanor Hunt in the 1936 film "Yellow Cargo" aka "Sinful Cargo." (See homepage link for article.) |

Pat, I'm confused on your list. How can Linda Arvidson have the first gag scene ever, but not have the first gag scene by type of gag? For instance, if she were cleave gagged, wouldn't she be listed as the first cleave gag scene ever? |

The list was compiled here on Brians Page, with members nominating firsts and others either agreeing or submitting competing nominees. No one came up with a predecessor for Linda Arvildson's scene, so it sticks. The list is also out of date. It says there has been no pantie gag on TV, but there was one on Law and Order SVU a couple of years ago. It's very possible some of the early stuff is inaccurate. A lot of the early films were lost, and they almost certainly included a few scenes. We're weak in the area of scenes from France, which had a strong movie industry early on. As scientists like to say, much research remains to be done in this area. Which is why I included all those caveats and quibbles at the beginning of the article. |

At the 41' mark, FBI go into his bedroom and opening a door on his closet. On the door, it shows the poster of a women's back cuffed hands. On agent says he is on the prowl for another victim. Not sure if anything else was shown. I did download your video of the gal from last week. |

I have a couple of scenes from Chinese martial arts movies not in the database, but my only internet access is at the public library; can't leave an email address. Any way around that? |

That one didn't do much for me, other than shock me that it was being shown. Part of it was her general demeanor - she pretty much looked like she was waiting for a bus. I guess I'm a "struggle snob." Like to see the damsel fighting before the ropes go on and writhing as much as possible when they've been applied. Thus the scene on Las Vegas was more to my liking - EXCEPT for the fact that I managed to miss part of it. There's almost always some kind of "except" but that gives me something to keep shooting for. |

What year was duct or other adhesive tape invented? This is a sort of supplemental to the first gag questions. |

The perp's m.o. was to drug his victims -- thus there was no need for bondage. |

I figured more people would have been discussing it if that were the case. If time permits, perhaps I will make a clip of the scene and throw it up on the Video page. |

Duct tape was first created in 1942. Any scene in the 20's would via for the crown on that. But you would have any adhesive tape, such as masking, duct and medical. Where would you start at classifing the type of tape to see which actress got the first treatment. |

Have you tried creating a free email address at Yahoo? You'd be able to access your email at most free internet sites. Lots of websites offer free email accounts. |
