To me, that (hopefully) translates into a blackmail scene that calls for a gag, because thus far the bondage itself has been pretty laughable. |

She jumps off the side when her feet (in boots) become entangled in a wire on the tank. For about three minutes, there are close-ups of Meg's (Smith) struggling ankles as the Blob gets closer until her boyfriend saves her. |

| TvGuide.com is reporting that, for his follow-up to "Hostel," director Eli Roth will be tormenting three women tourists in Slovakia. Contrast this to the putzathon of the first installment, which featured ballgags on the male leads.
Lauren German, Bijou Phillips and Heather Matarazzo are in talks to star. Digression: Entertainment Weekly made cursory mention this past week of a season three "Rescue Me" scene featuring Dennis Leary's character tape-gagging a one-night stand in a prelude to intercourse. (Part of his misogynistic charm, I guess.) Not in the DB. Anyone see it? |

| I didn't catch this Showtime series, but Argento's installment called "Jenifer" is coming out on DVD, and the clip at the website shows a blonde with her hands tied behind her being dragged along by a cleaver-wielding man.
She's "saved" (but maybe not?) before the end of the clip, but not yet untied, and it's hard to tell how much longer the scene might go on after that, or how much took place before it began. And, this being Argento, I wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be a monster or something (in this clip, we only see her from behind). But it still should be worth checking out. I can't find anything in the DB, either spelled correctly or as "Jennifer". |

She spent nearly all her time onscreen bound and gagged, and I believe this was her acting debut, that is, the first time she ever appeared on either television or on film. Can anyone name any other actresses who have been bound and gagged in their acting debuts? |

E.g., Thordis Brandt in "Dragnet" (1969) and Betty Jean Samuelson & Jeri Lea Ray in Charlie's Angels ("Marathon Angels"). A number of actresses had to start in a Horror B-movie or Direct-to-video schlock. Rarely, does one land a major starring role right out of the box. Perhaps Tawny Kitaen would technically apply, since "Perils of Gwendoline" was filmed before "Bachelor Party", although the latter was released to theaters first. Sometimes, Playboy Playmates or Penthouse Pets first acting roles would include a DiD scene ("Look pretty and mmph at the camera"), e.g., Patty Mullen in "Doom Asylum" (1987) and Cynthia Brimhall in "Hard Ticket to Hawaii". I haven't cross-checked IMDB to confirm if these were their FIRST acting roles, but these certainly were early efforts. |

You're absolutely correct, most actresses can't afford to be selective early in their acting careers, so they take whatever roles they may be offered, even if such roles entail their being bound and gagged. This most likely isn't an infrequent circumstance as you speculate, it's just not noted unless the actress achieves some measure of success and renown. How many actresses who've been bound and gagged in their acting debuts have faded into obscurity? We're simply discussing the ones whose careers have had some longevity. Lara Flynn Boyle was a struggling actress in 1987, when the aforementioned episode of "Sable" premiered. Her reaction to receiving the part most likely wasn't "Oh, I'll be bound and gagged", but rather, "I'll be PAID for being bound and gagged, and will have something to put on my resume". The same holds true for the Playboy Playmates and Penthouse Pets who were bound and gagged in their acting debuts. Most were pragmatic enough to realize that their acting careers were facilitated by their knowing Hugh Hefner or Bob Guccione rather than their acting ability, so they accepted debut acting roles in which they were bound and gagged. |
