Tuesday July 20 10:16:49 2004 DUG *FINALLY* Updated! |
After months of unconscionable delay, Chapter 8 of SHORTY & THE COWGIRL is *finally* posted to DAMSEL UNDER GLASS (URL below). I've already started Chapter 9 & hereby SOLEMNLY PLEDGE to work on nothing else until the ENTIRE saga of Chelsea & Jessie is complete... unless my muse tells me to do otherwise. :-) |

Tuesday July 20 16:19:09 2004 Dr Who production |
Filming started today on the new Doctor Who series, to be screened next Spring.
The first story is set in a department store which holds a sinister secret. Hmmm.... city centre, multiple interconnecting rooms - lots of restraint and silencing possibilities, nay necessities.... which will probably go unrealised. :-( Still, we can hope, and Billie Piper would make a fine DiD. We are promised scary monsters and cliffhangers much as before, but "from a modern perspective." With luck, that won't mean taming down to the point of insipidity, as has reportedly happened with the latest Nancy Drew series. Some scenes, perhaps an entire story, are set in the 1860s, the Golden Age of melodramatic villainy. Special effects are described as state-of-the-art, while the Doctor wears a leather jacket and black T-shirt. I'm not sure I can relate to a cool Doctor, while the producer's mention of "exploring the relationship between the Doctor and his companion" is a bit disquieting. Hope it doesn't occur at the expense of action and tension. We shall see. |

That's exactly what happened to me. When I found this in my video store, I thought "now that's at least one thing Segal seems to have learnt in his old days - to have a few skimpy-clad damsels in distress in his movies." I should have known better. The only vague hint at bondage is when Segal's character is watching a video sent by the kidnappers: |

Tuesday July 20 18:39:11 2004 Fantastic Four Movie |
I read in Entertainment Weekly that Marvel has signed up actors to perform in a "Fantastic Four" feature film. Invisible Woman will be played by none other than JESSICA ALBA. Could give us all something to look forward to. |

Tuesday July 20 22:18:56 2004 A Possibility? |
The New York Times for July 18th lists a new movie coming out titled "Make a Wish". The review says, "Sharon Ferranti's thriller is about a women's camping trip where the women keep disappearing."
I never heard of it before, but I'll check it out online and let y'all know if there's any possibility. Or has anyone else heard anything about it? |
