Saturday May 29 09:43:43 2004 Sexy Skye |
Wow, the "General Hospital" blink-and-miss scene with Robin Christopher sealing her own lips with duct tape was impressive. I just wish they used tape for her gag in the scene last week, as opposed to another cleave-gag.
If you have the video from Friday, check out her facial expression as Luke rips the tape and hands it to her. If only the damn director could have kept the shot on Skye for a second or two longer, we could have had a perfect shot of her looking right into the camera tape-gagged. As soon as she sealed the lips....gone to the next scene. |
Saturday May 29 10:56:04 2004 I nominate Demonlover to the bondage canon |
I've been thinking about it, and I think Demonlover should be a worthy addition to the bondage canon.
This is different from a "favorite bondage flicks" list in that the bondage canon can't be any one person in particular's favorite -- it has to be a flick that most people who are knowledgeable about a particular field will a gree should be seen by anyone who wants to talk knowledgeably about the field. Flicks that are already in the canon would include: Story of O The Collector 9 1/2 Weeks The Abductors Terror Among Us The Avengers TV series and prolly a couple of others that I can't think of offhand. Films in the bondage canon don't necessarily represent the best in the field -- for example 9 1/2 Weeks, which sucks bondage-wise. But so many people form their impression of bondage from 9 1/2 Weeks that you have to see it to provide an informed response when folks say, "Yeah, I've seen bondage films like 9 1/2 Weeks." I think Demonlover belongs in the canon because it's a very strong melding of an erotic thriller with a sexual bondage/submission theme. It's equivalent to the work John Norman did in melding sword and sandal fantasies to sexual bondage themes. I doubt there'll be a lot of sequels, but there may be a lot of imitators. |

In literature, perhaps some persons' first exposure to the D/S world was the "Sleeping Beauty" trilogy by A.N. Roquelaure (a pseudonym used by bestselling novelist Anne Rice). |

Straight-to-video east-european white slavery thriller starring Kari Wuhrer has at least one really good bondage scene.Lots of busty damsels in distress besides Kari. Her website supplies a lot of info image wise but I haven't seen this one in stores. |
Saturday May 29 17:18:37 2004 More Kudos for The Wild Card |
Having finally mananged to see the DVD, let me say I thought the DiD scenes with Hillary Tuck were excellent overall. Even though I prefer cloth gags to tape, in this instance the tape really appears to be stuck on, with wrinkles and visible lip lines underneath as opposed to a piece that looks like it's about to fall off. Great closeups, and the behind-the-scenes feature was tops.
The only negative was there wasn't enough good shots of Barbara Alyn Woods, who's still a hottie after all this time. (Anyone who doesn't think so, please check out her guest-appearance on the old HBO show DREAM ON. Make sure you get the R-rated version.) |

But the story revolves around ex-lovers getting back at each other using bondage, and for that alone, I think it deserves at least an honorable mention. Not to mention how light-heartedly it's portrayed, and the fact that Hatcher's character and Bacon's character seem to be having fun near the end when Hatcher's character is tied to a chair and receiving a foot massage. What better portrayal of bondage than a light-hearted, loving one? |

---- And "Bull Durham" could be added to The Bondage Canon. Two A-list actors (Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon) covering all the fetish bases in one romantic scene: Bondage, toe-nail painting, and baseball. |

Saturday May 29 20:23:05 2004 Purse up, sucker! |
A linguistic point has occurred to me. When a damsel obligingly closes her mouth firmly to receive a gag, most commentators here refer to it as "pursing" the lips.
A typical dictionary definition of this action is "to gather or contract the lips or brow into wrinkles or folds; pucker." The analogy is with the rim of a bag wrinkling outwards above a tightened drawstring. That would seem about right for a kissing pose with everted lips, or pressing the lips firmly together in front of the teeth, but what about when, like awesome Ana in "High Risk", the lady sucks them in between her teeth? The appearance then is a thin, smooth, straight line, certainly not a pucker. Does anyone know of a more appropriate concise term than "purse" for this latter action? Perhaps we can coin one. :-I |
