It definitely sounds like a possibility. The New York Times says Joanna (Nicole Kidman) has an exchange with the robot builders (the bad guys):

<<Late in the game, Joanna discovers that one of the robot-designers once worked for AOL. "Is that why the women are so slow?" she asks.)>>

Girl Taped Up On Australian Big Brother!
Pretty sure this qualifies as on-topic.

Last Wednesday, 31 year-old Australian Big Brother housemate Terri, playfully taped her own mouth (loosely) with a long strip of silver gaffer tape. Shortly afterwards, 2 male housemates then used the tape to tie her to a chair.

For a brief desrciption, check Day 39 (Wednesday June 9) of the diary at the website.

Peyton List scene
I've gotten some possible good news here, note possible. A couple of soap boards "think" "As the World Turns" will be preempted and shown in full on Monday. CBS is planning to run "Guiding Light" at 3 p.m. today and has listed VCR alerts for stations that carry the show in earlier time periods on their web site. No mention of "ATWT" or the earlier CBS soaps on the site, so we may get a total preemption. Hopefully.

Yes.

Here's the description from the site. Save you some time :)

10:49: The boys tape Terri’s mouth shut and tie her to a chair when she tries to change the decorations on their carnivale float.

Ryan, Trevor and Paul are decorating the carnivale float in the garden. Standing on a table, Ryan is the only one tall enough to reach the highest point of the float. Terri joins them and complains that the steal frame looks "horrid", she wants to make a canopy out of fabric to cover it up. The boys are dubious. Terri calls Catherine over saying: "I need another female opinion."

"She just needs numbers," laughs Trevor.

Paul says: "She needs to rack up a few points because her point's not getting through."

Terri gives up: "You're not doing it my way, I'm leaving."

Terri goes back to the kitchen and Paul calls after her: "You sure you don't want to come out and throw another spanner in... come out here I've got some gaffer tape for your mouth!"

Terri returns to the garden to try and get her point across again. Paul gaffer tapes her mouth shut then with some help from Trevor, he tapes her to a chair and wraps her up in feather boas and fabric. Terri laughs through her gag: "Stop it, you're turning me on!"

The boys leave her in the chair and continue work on the float.

The description says a housemate tapes her mouth but I've seen the footage and she does it herself.

CBS soaps
CBS has cut away from the Reagan coverage to air "The Bold and the Beautiful." Don't know if they're cutting back at 2 p.m. but at least we've got a shot.

East Coast just got Peyton List getting B&G'd onscreen. Scene cuts right after she gets gagged. The Reagan footage might still cut in for the later part of this scene

They just cut in. Amazing!!

Just saw the scenes on video and they're excellent.

Probably a bit off-topic, but does anyone have a vidclip of the scenes?

For West Coasters, scene popped at sometime between the 11-14 minute mark. ALSO, the promo commercial for ATWT which showed Peyton getting gagged aired on the east coast feed three minutes before the start of the show (i.e. right as the Bold and the Beautiful credits were ending).

Damn, we're sure to be missing some good stuff right about now...

ATWT preempt
And it just did. They got in the tie-up scene less than five minutes under the wire (not the way it usually works for us folks, is it?). In any case, whatever remains of this scene will not be seen on the East Coast, and for the record the gagging was a minor let-down as the guy's shoulder obscures her face for a good part of it (the cap that was posted to this page a few days ago shows the last unobscured frame of the shot), although she does get cut-off mid-sentence and give a nice little bit of vocal protest. Hopefully they drag out the scene the way they did the rest of the storyline.

I'll leave the begging for clips/caps to someone else

Peyton got gagged at the 15 mark. Nice on screen gagging. But they just cut away to Reagan coverage at 2:20. Damn I really thought maybe they wouldn't cut away but they did. Was this really necessary to cut in though, its just his departure from Andrews. I mean Reagan was a great President but this isn't anything that couldn't wait until the 5:00 news.

Anyways I really hope someone on the west coast can fill the rest of in on what was missed and maybe make some caps or even clips ;)

Yeah, only 15 minutes, but just long to enough to shaft us out of at least one money shot, I'm sure. We'll see if we can get another shot or two at least before the end of the show...

At the 37 minute mark, Peyton is shown ungagged but still bound as Dusty tries to talk to her about the situation. He has to go out for supplies, so he may gag her again before the show is out.

What the hell happened? We only lost 15 minutes and she had changed her clothes and was unbound? Then, he taped her up again but forgot the gag. Arghhh!!!!

Actually I wrote that in reference to someone asking for scenes 30 seconds after I said I'd leave it to someone else. In any case, I'd have to nominate this for "Most irritating Soap Scene Hunt" of the year (or decade, for that matter)

No kidding. Anyway, there was one last scene of Peyton bound but not gagged at the 50-minute mark. She's asleep and Dusty puts his coat over her. In the previews for next week it shows two cops breaking into the place. She's ungagged, but these cops look kind of fishy, ya know?

ATWT
We just got a 30-second shot of Peyton, still tied up but not gagged, asleep in her chair, and the guy coming over to put his jacket over her so she doesn't get cold. I'd say this makes the chances of her getting gagged again rather unfavorable.

Of course, they devote about half of each segment to the oh-so riveting "Good looking young black dude having an affair with withered old white crow" storyline.

To be clear, they ~discover~ her ungagged, and say something to her about getting there just in time, but they look suspicious, like they might be the real kidnappers. Anyway, to sum up, she's gagged right around the 15-minute mark. Sometime during the 15-minute east coast blackout, it's probably safe to assume there's at least one "if you promise to be quiet I'll take that tape off" scene. When the east coast feed resumes, she's rebound but not gagged at the 37-minute mark or so, and then the final shot at 50 minutes.

My work here is done...

Yea whats up with that. They drag that storyline to death and in only 20 min Peyton was bound gagged then unbound and not gagged and with a change of clothes. Slim slim slim chances for something next week with those shady looking cops but I can't take this show anymore so I'll just check here for info.

I'm guessing we only missed 1 segment but it was the best one. I'm guessing she was shown B&G (with closeups) and might have even done some mppfffing. Dusty probably says "I'll untie so you can change you clothes if you promise to be good." I can just see Peyton saying "mmmmppppfff."

In the Internet search for information about this madness, I stumbled across a soap download site. You can get complete episodes for small fees. Might be worth a look if that deleted footage was good. I might try it, but it's a goldmine for CBS soaps in the future if we miss something since they don't air on SoapNet.

Overall, I'd say this fiasco could have been worse, but it's one for the ages. 30 years from now when a new generation of fans flocks to Internet pages, we can talk about the President Reagan-Peyton List fiasco, forever linked.

Now Margo isn't that bad. It's her stupid hairstyle that makes her look older than she is. I remember her 15 years ago on "Guiding Light" and think she looks better now. I agree with rip on the storyline, by the way. Totally absurd.

Screwed by the news.
The ATWT fiasco fits right up there with my fiasco with the Kam Heskins scene on SUNSET BEACH years ago. On Friday she was bound and tapegagged in a chair near the end of the episode. This was around the time John Glenn had gone up in space as an old man. I taped the episode the following monday but found that the show had been pre-empted for a ticker tape parade. I didn't feel too bad because I figured they'd just show the episode the next day. I'm at home to tape this one in person so in the opening scene I see the babe still bound and gagged but now her chair has been tipped over and I see there's a fire or something where she's being held and her boyfriend trying to break in the door to rescue her. I'm mystified! This isn't where Friday's episode ended? Then I realized to my utter chagrin what had happened. Monday's premption was just in the NEW YORK area where I lived because of the ticker tape parade for Glenn in Wall Street. Nationally the show had not been pre-empted which is why I caught tueday's episode on tuesday rather than monday's. Later I learned that in New York they had shown monday's episode in the early morning hours of Tuesday.

Game show bondage
I'm not sure if this is on topic, Brian. You have my apologies if it isn't.

About ten years ago an episode of Clive James, a comedy/ talk show occasionally featured clips of what he considered to be game shows over the top in silliness or just plain bad.

One was a kind of " hero to the rescue " type show. The husband/ boyfriend had to answer questions and tackle set tasks to " save " his wife/ girlfriend.

What definately caught Clive's and my attention was at the start of the show after the introductions were made, the damsel in question would be wheeled out on a platform, tied with a lot of rope to a pole and cleave or detective gagged with a cloth.

The host would greet her and she'd mumble " hello " or just grunt in reply. The host then would ask the bf/ hubby questions about their relationship and depending on how he answered, the damsel would grunt a denial or shake her head.

Does anyone else recall this show or others similar ?

Nice work it was, too. To fill in the gaps ...

Lucy was shown bound to a chair (her arms through the bars of the chair back, wrists taped ... ankles *probably* taped together, although they are never in frame) and tapegagged about 21' in. Dusty soon removes the gag and after a bit releases her to go to the bathroom.

Around the 24' mark, after Lucy's changed into the jeans and hooded top, Dusty handgags her when a local gendarme (not one of the two in Monday's preview ... he's legit) makes an appearance outside the cabin. Cut to many, many ads ... then back to the scene about 29' in. The constable has a look 'round the premises while the handgag keeps going and going and going ...

He finally moves on to pastures new, and Lucy's lips are let loose.

And that's the rest of the story.

Title: Weird Science

Does anyone know a title or the basic plot of the episode? I've been meaning to just record all the episodes and scan them as they air on WAM but so far I haven't done it once in the last six months I've been trying. Narrowing the field might motivate me. :)

Christina Applegate in Anchorman?
There was discussion earlier that Christina might have a DiD-scene of some sort in the upcoming movie "Anchorman." I was scanning a magazine interview with Will Ferrell (I think) & there was mention that a SLA-type hostage subplot didn't make the final cut. {Schazbatt!} Well, there's always Deleted Scenes when the DVD comes out. :-|

Yaks, there was so much on this, I hate to admit I skipped some of the "how could Regan be so rude to die on a week with a scene" talk.. so if someone else mentioned this, forgive me, I'll just be concurring, not reporting.. but Lucy's tape gag was one of the lamest tape gags I have seen in a LONG time. It did not even stick to her face on either end.. and the angle they shot it from was featuring the side with about 2 inches of the tapes end sticking straight up in the air.

Hell, I know a cleave gag doesn't work either, but if it is at least semi-tied on, you buy the bit.. this just LOOKED phoney as hell, IMHO!

And to flip that 180, the dude did a real nice job on all her hand gags.. they looked real, with her cheeks bulging over the top of his hand.. comps on that part!

Last, I agree, keep a watch on next week.. her villain made reference to "we don't even know if the cop was real".. and I think she is about to be saved by a couple of fake, kidnapping cops folks.. Its the way I'd write it, LOL!
