I'm beginning to thing the Smallville producers have the House of Gord on retainer. Kara's futuristic Kryptonite/steel cuffs and the subsequent examination look like they'll be very cool; like the mad scientist ordeal Chloe went through last season, only different. Unfortunately, Kara (Laura Vandervoort) will *not* be nekkid (like Chloe), but she *will* be wearing a red mini-dress. Let's just hope it's not one of those blink-and-Clark-rescues-her things. And speaking of Laura Vandervoort... {SCHWING!!} |

I really have no idea. You are correct that I should not have said anything about "fair game" and legalities because I really don't know enough about it. HOWEVER, all that is completely irrelevant. If we all got together and started letter writing campaigns, we just would NOT mention "Brian's Page" or any other website devoted to mainstream bondage. Nobody at the networks needs to know about "Brian's Page" or any of the websites that provide vidcaps and vidclips. They just need to know that there are A LOT of guys out there who will tune in to a TV show in order to see attractive actresses bound and gagged. If they were aware of that, we would get more scenes. Consider how many people regularly visit "Brian's Page" every day. Brian once gave an estimate but I don't remember what it is. Whatever the number is, if ALL of us sent a letter to ABC saying something like "I am a man who never watches an episode of 'Desperate Housewives'. However, if Eva Longoria was bound and gagged in an episode, then I would definitely tune in.", then ABC would HAVE to pay attention. There is no reason why we can't do this. |

We have given up on recording shows. The only exception was part of the Las Vegas season premiere. As far as we're concerned, the only true DiD scene in months was that Marcil scene. Everything else was a sad ploy for ratings. Your personal campaign would lead to no good on that end. |

Well, sure, to the extent that it might get posted on the hallway message board next to the water cooler, such that derisive laughter might ensue. As I see it, your mistake here is not in assuming that we're a significant demographic -- that's a proposition to which I'm still at least a bit open -- but in assuming that getting overly aggressive about the possibility will create more good than harm at the moment. If you want to be the Code Pink of the mainstream DiD community, that's your prerogative, but I don't see there being much solidarity. |

Friday October 26 05:13:12 2007 This and that and nothing in particular... |
...or as prison guard Dabbs Greer (who sadly passed away a few months back) whispered into the ear of condemned murderess Susan Hayward (who just as sadly passed away much longer ago, but not before earning the sobriquet "Oscar-winning actress" before her untimely demise) as she sat blindfolded and strapped into the gas chamber at the climax of "I Want to Live!": "When you hear the pellets drop, count ten. Take a deep breath. It's easier that way." To which Hayward sneered-as only Hayward COULD sneer-"How do YOU know?" And it's fitting in a way to remember one of the classic scenes involving the use of a blindfold, since I'm here once again to briefly discuss that medium in which all the action is heard and not seen, namely audiobooks. Some time back I mentioned Judith Lindbergh's "The Thrall's Tale" and asked if anyone knew if there were anything of interest to us in it. Well, someone near and dear downloaded it from netLibrary a few weeks ago and, in the great tradition of our erstwhile friend Bindan Gagher (who, for those of you who weren't around back then, suffered through the last filmed version of "The Scarlet Letter" to identify Francie Swift as the third bondagee in the gallows scene) subjected their tender ears to all of its just under nineteen hours of unending chick-lit cliches-so YOU won't have to. As I told you back when, this is the story of a female slave of the Vikings a thousand years ago, which would seem to be a promising setup. What Lindbergh does with it, however, is branch out into what happens to her daughter and to the elderly Viking witch they both end up being owned by. In other words, the book becomes a trilogy of tales, all told in the first person. About the only thing worthy of note is a handgagging during a rape-which, of course, is how the daughter comes to be. That and the main character, who had been born to an Irish Christian abducted by the Vikings, relating how her parents had been "bound in chains" after their capture. That's it, No whippings or any of the other trappings of what you'd think medieval slavery would entail. Don't you just hate these novelists who think they can get away with imposing 21st century sensibilities on tenth-century society? And to add insult to injury-I'll be brief, Mr. Moderator, brief enough, I hope, to avoid a swift kick to Valhalla-the "shortcut" method for getting netLibrary's encrypted WMA files onto an iPod is currently out of commission, meaning you have to play the file through on your computer at least once, unless you also own an mp3 player that can handle such files without that aforementioned "shortcut." Finally, speaking of Valhalla, it seems our beloved Fuhrer's generosity of late has been misconstrued. To remind everyone: Issues of topicality are the province of the Moderator, and ONLY the Moderator. I don't have a problem with that since I don't help pay for the storage or bandwidth this site consumes. And anyone who doesn't get this needs to take it up with the aforementioned party of the first part privately via e-mail. Because frankly, the rest of us really don't want to hear about it. |

Friday October 26 05:46:46 2007 Re: Actresses who "get it." |
I know a bit of time has passed but since it's a topic that interests me, i thought i'd throw my 2 cents in. As some of you may have seen on Major John's, a film called Sum of Existence came out last year here in australia. Having directed the film, and asked my actresses while the hell they'd do a role that involves a gag or restraints or such, i got much the same reply from all 4 of them - it's being able to experience the emotions, and putting yourself in such an horendous situation in an entirely safe environment where you can experience the emotions, but not have to actually live it once I called cut. So much so, that one actor (who played the attacker) would talk about kayaking in the andes between takes with his victim and she attempt to answer, sometimes not so successfully since she was still gagged and blindfolded and tied up - weirdest thing i saw - i wish we had done behind the scenes for that JD |

Friday October 26 12:02:21 2007 Actresses who get it |
JD mentioned actresses doing roles and talking about emotion, I noticed that Lauren German, in the commentary during Hostel II, never mentioned a single word about being tied up. The director even asked her what she was feeling when she was trying to tell “Stuart” something through her gag and she never said anything about the gag. She was onscreen with a close-up of her face. She was cleave gagged and she never mentioned it. The director even said something like, “you read the script and you knew what you were getting into”, still she never said anything about being tied up and gagged. She talked about having nightmares and how tiring the scenes and falling asleep during shooting, she said she had never done a role that before, etc. It seemed that Eli Roth was trying to get her to say something about being tied up but she never mentioned it. At one point he said, I love the look on your face there. It was like Lauren German was watching a different movie or something. |

There nothing wrong with DB to VHS machine Alerts. What I'm seeing backchecking is late Alerts posted on Discussion. This where it's on at that moment and you'll really only catch it if you're at home at the right time. Only way get around that I can think of is the above site. This one, put your postal code in the slot, then choose your provider: * Example I used Brian's home address (Clark Ave - 63103) & Charter-Digital* This where you can use poster about 2 weeks worth. Either throw a title in the Search Bar, or you can hit a favoured channel on the listings *Example I hit a channel "TNT 49" Channel comes up for a weeks worth of it's shows, but you can then click on favoured shows and get the two weeks worth of the show's listings on all channels of your cable. *Example- I hit Without a Trace. Gave me two weeks of all Without a Trace airings on his cable Fantastic site. Week to two weeks ahead give you time to set your VHS Machine. Hope that of assist, If it doesn't? Too bad, if she'd been alive it would have been the first ever crotch rope on American mainstream TV. There actually hasn't been a crotchrope in mainstream American movies, either: Sweet Ecstasy was a European production, and Romance was French. |

Thanks in advance These are the extra scenes I recall: There's a few extra scenes with the blonde bound and tape-gagged in the motel after Mallory leaves Mickey alone with her. There's also a very brief B&W scene with Ashley Judd recounting her encounter with Mickey and Mallory. She's bound on the floor with what looks like a small stuffed animal in her mouth as a gag. I'll leave it to Stephanie and/or Mai Li to tell the long story if they wish -- which they did do in this forum originally, and that's why I know about it. The short story is that they posted clips from that film, received a cease-and-desist order from the producers' attorneys, and took the clips down. It happens all the time. So far, there's been no organized attempt to target DiDclippers. My fear, however, is that one is on the horizon, and that dorky projects such as Tapemaster's write-in initiative will only accelerate the schedule. Hence the rant. :) |

Progress, I suppose. There are two reasons: 1. This site is about discussing scenes, not figuring out ways to make scenes happen. 2. We already had this suggestion a while ago. It led to an ugly series of messages that were not in your favor. At that time I declared it off-topic. If you want to organize such an effort, start a web site for it.
