Goodness, let's not get too full of ourselves, now. Consider the following thought:

"A harmless hilarity and a buoyant cheerfulness are not infrequent concomitants of genius; and we are never more deceived than when we mistake gravity for greatness, solemnity for science, and pomposity for erudition."
--Charles Caleb Cotton

I mean, come on, here we are, a bunch of...um...adult people, spending our time concentration on primarily rich female film stars with their mouths sealed. How serious do you want us to be about it?

Thanks, mate! It's a very welcome cap, grainy or not. "Le Viol" was one of my personal "resonances." Maybe someday we'll locate a clip or two!

The trailer image is Piper Perabo. I work in a theatre and have seen the trailer many times. I don't know if Scarlett does the trick as well.

You're welcome. That's a old scan I did. At some point, i can do a deeper scan and get the grid lines less prominent.

Interesting factoid: Her character in the movies is Marianne Severine. Catherine Deneuve's character in Belle Du Jour is named Severine.
I believe that nameis somehow connected to the old novel Venus In Furs. I've never read it, but in the Velvet Underground song of that title, Lou Reed sings the name Severin (or Severine) several times.

Slight correction - the name in Viol is Severin.

Also meant to add that maybe one of the literati here can shed some light on the Severin/Severine name.

You can't have it both ways. If we don't take it seriously, why waste time keeping tabs on the number of female actors' scenes in the first place? By doing that, you ARE taking it seriously. That's all well and good (if that's your cup of tea), but maybe it isn't a good idea to go completely over the top. I mean, "gag hat trick"?!

DONS vs. Technotronic: Pump up the jam
This seems to be the 1998 version of the music video. There are a few short scenes after the 1' and 3' mark.

Re: 1967 Movie:: Le Viol
LV,

This stuff is fun for me, but maybe we should be taking it offline. For now, here are some bits of data:

"Severin/Severine" derives from "Severus" who was a Roman emperor from AD 193-211. As you might surmise, the name means "stern" or "severe."

There was also a saint Severin, a 6th century martyr. And a pope who took that name. And a 17th century historian, too.

But I believe that the film references by Bunuel and Doniol-Valcroze might have been more directly to Caroline Remy de Guebhard (1855-1929), who was a pioneering socialist and feminist who wrote under the pen name "Severine." In the context of "Le Viol" and "Belle de Jour," this link provides a very provocative subtext, wouldn't you say? (It would be a subtext lost on almost all American viewers of the films in the late 1960s, but not to knowledgable French viewers.)

WW, perhaps you might want to check out Bill Griffith's "Zippy." There's only one way to navigate the fine line between pop culture and the harsh feedback of the real world, and that's through humor.

Frankly, I think the idea of a "Gag Hat Trick", etc., is clever, self-referential, humorous, and not at all "over the top." How is it different from the endless occupation of "top ten" lists of this or that. Or (and here's a real "over the top" allusion) to someone's "holy grail."

Yikes, man. Lighten up.

Thanks for the alert. Had no idea this was even on. I also think Nicole looks terrific, but she does look completely different at 34 than she did a just few years ago. Her scratchy voice now may throw some fans.

Too bad they didn't seal the scene with a gag.

He's saying dont take it TOO seriously, meaning that if people want to have a humorous discussion, its not going to hurt anything. But for things like the database, thats not discussion, its cataloging and record keeping which has a different context.
One can still take stuff seriously without letting it go to their head, and still have some lighthearted fun at the same time.

Nothing new on the Adrianna stalker storyline, but it will wrap next Friday, Aug. 3, so recording next week would be a good idea.

For blindfold fans, Evangeline (Renee Goldsberry) will be in a white blindfold in Friday's episode. Looks nice on her gorgeous face. Just a medical storyline here. Also, FYI, Melissa Gallo (Adrianna) strutting in very small bikini in first 30 minutes of today's episode. Amazing body of this hottie.

Mexican Movie
I found this on Youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGG1vk4dqkg

It is a Spanish language movie or TV program. You can see the Telemundo logo in the bottom right hand corner. In the first scene a woman is barefoot, placed in a straightjacket and gagged with an over the mouth cloth gag. Towards the end another woman is shown being tied on a bed. Her hands are tied behind her back and her feet are tied together. She is barefoot as well and gagged with an over the mouth cloth gag. I have never seen this and I was wondering if anyone knows the title.

And, from the same youtube site, check out this amazing Japanese "bound girl in a suitcase" scene. Is it commercial or mainstream? Anyone know?

Why do you fidrools have to keep talking about shit that doesn't relate to mainstream scenes ? It's getting to be pointless now days to visit the page, having to scroll through stupid shit just to read something that even relates to the page.

Looks like the movie "El Cholo" (DB #6777). Def. classic. Wish they would show more of these now, too many game and talk shows.

MAVERICK
For those who have access to the American Life Network which has been showing a lot of those Warner Brothers shows from the 50's and 60's, tonights Maverick presented an unexpected scene during the 9 pm show between the 45 minute and the 50 minute mark. A dancehall girl is held prisoner by the bad guys with an over the mouth gag and with her wrists tied in front. Number of good close-ups. Reruns again at the midnight hour.

Warning: Saw an extended trailer for this on a big screen, and I can confirm that this is a MAJOR putz-fest. Looks like way more full-treatment scenes with guys than ladies (including multi-guy scenes). Some of the posted pictures above are of guys, BTW.
