Thursday October 26 01:20:11 2006 Brainman |
In generously posting the outtakes of "Brainman" on their site (many thanks, gals), Stephanie and Mai have added additional grist for the mill of our discussion about what ought to go into the database.
Mindful of the Moderator's rather uncompromising (but understandable and legitimate) position on this, it will be interesting should this film not get produced (or get produced but not ever distributed). According to the Moderator's position, this would mean not entering it into the database, since it would not be "mainstreamed" in the largest sense of the word--not made available to the public and posterity. But, analogously, I wonder how pop music databases are treating Dylan's "Basement Tapes." They weren't widely distributed (but were available if one knew how and who to ask). Eventually a more formal collection of them were released, but this primarily to allow Dylan's copyright holders (himself included) to get on top of the situation on the ground. On an informal perusal of a few of said discographies, I find the Basement Tapes listed among Dylan's other work--it's part of his opus. So, does this mean fame and longevity are criteria for getting into the database if a film with a DiD scene is never released to broad formal distribution? Just some things to think about as we ponder the current position of the Moderator. I'm assuming, too, that given M's position, the preview clip of "Desaparecida" won't be entered into the db. Or would it be okay for me to write up an entry? |

Skezemuth and Raff:
Thanks for putting the Tierra clip up for those of us who missed it. I'm a a big fan of AOH, a little violence, and Gaby Spanic's amazing curves, so it was great IMO. Hopefully the Mod wont remove this comment, but as I mentioned earlier this week, I have the clip of Gaby Spanic's AOH whipping scene from "Prisionera" that hopefully someone can host. It's not as good as the Tierra scene, but it's still pretty good given Gaby's curves. |

Mr. Mod--
Would you consider adding info about downloading/saving Youtube videos to the FAQ? Or somehow "stickying" such a message over on Trades? I realize that Youtube may not be with us in its present form too much longer, but the question does come up a lot. |

Couple closeups of her before the cons bolted. No escape scene. Action took place in opening 5 minutes. If you got the prior episode, there wasn't anything different. They may have even replayed some of the same footage, like a soap would in the opening minutes. |

We neglected to include one of our clips on our update yesterday - and it's one of Jay L's favorites, so a major oversight.

Just getting around to watching this one. I'll second the wish that there had been less brutality, but, apart from that, man, what a scene-- they're both hot, the catfight is amazing, we get a nice OTS carry, and the gloating is up there with the best I've seen (though my leftover high school Spanish is only getting about a third of it). |

Hey, to all who mentioned it - you're welcome. Brian's page and its regulars have been good to me over the years, whenever I can give back, I'm glad to do it. I am trying to cover all shows M-F on Telemundo from 7-11 PM EST for scenes, as much as possible anyway. I'll post them if I get them. |

I think your overall evaluation is on point, except that this is the ONLY strip joint scene I've ever seen where you have gagged slavegirls running around being, um, gagged. Slaveboys, too, sadly enough. Worst of all, the scene at the gaming table in the middle where the action is going on has three gagged slaves, two female and one male. In most shots, the females are OF COURSE sitting with their backs to the camera and the male is facing the camera. Pa-thetic. Anyway, here's some caps. There are a lot of brief background images, but wouldn't it be NICE if other filmmakers showed this level of imagination in handling a futuristic strip club scene? (Note head-harnessed and blindfolded slavegirl in third cap. |

Maybe my standards are just low from watching all that softcore porn hoping for a scene or two, but I really like all the late 90s action/adventure series. I hardly have any interest in the current crop of shows. I'd rather watch an old "Special Unit 2" or "Lost World" than most anything running currently. Cleopatra 2525 strikes me as being a lot of fun, especially compared with the rather dull stuff that we have now. |

I like that definition, as it gets a lot of my favorite hentai into the mainstream -- like about a third of them, if not half. Depends on whether or not you consider stories with character development at center stage to have narrative structure. I would, that means only about a quarter of hentai AREN'T mainstream. Works for me! As uit is, I'll match Fencer of Minerva, Wordsworth, Bible Black, most of the Imma Youjo series, Slave Warrior Maya from Cool Devices and well ... a HELL of a lot of hentai ... against most anime in terms of plotting and story development. |

It was a great time for fun, goofball TV, and an even better time for those with Our Special Interest. Think about it: We had... Baywatch, Baywatch Nights, Pacific Blue (A personal favorite), Walker: Texas Ranger, Renegade, The various "Crimetime after Primetime" shows, in all their various networks & incarnations (Silk Stalkings, Forever Knight), Hercules, Xena, the various cheap Xena-wannbes (Aladdin, Conan, Tarzan, Beastmaster),Nash Bridges, Martial Law, Acapulco HEAT, Lois & Clark, Timecop, Pretender, VIP, High Tide, Two, She Spies(at the tail end of the zeitgeist), Weirdly adult kid's shows like Sweet Valley High... I could go on and on. I know that stuff like, say, CSI is technically smarter and "better", but I still miss this stuff. I wish there was some kind of a middle ground in TV between serious drama on one end and brain-eating, hateful reality TV on the other. Smallville and Lost come close, but by and large the "pop" has gone out of the pop culture. |
