Sunday October 29 00:45:09 2006 Dynasty. "Rescue" episode |
See the following Youtube posting for a very nice clean clip of the spectacular (if very All-American) Heather Locklear in a well-known but very hot BnG "Dynasty" scene.
Unfortunately, I've been unable to donwload a copy that runs more than 5 seconds or so. Could be the poster's limitation. But if anyone is able to successfully pull it down, oculd you let me know? Thanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH5Rzs7XHgs |

Sunday October 29 01:16:53 2006 Blonde Detroit DJ ballgagged |
A few weeks ago I posted about a radio show called Motor City Mid-days, on FM 97.1 here in Detroit. The Fetish Friday Fantasy segment was a gag talk lovers dream.
In short the female host Michelle allowed herself to be ballgagged and dominated. She really made the listener think she was into it, maybe she was. Though not tied up her muffled grunts coming across the airwaves were great! Her co-host noted that she had never looked so good. Sarcastic or not I think his comments are true. Finally a photo is up on their my space page of Michelle with a red ballgag. Not the best at links, hope this works. http://myspace-399.vo.llnwd.net/01333/99/33/1333973399_l.jpg |

Distress have we GOT in our cultural iconography? She's just about IT. ---- Slavegirl Leia is certainly up there, but I'd say #1 would go to Lois Lane. |

Sunday October 29 07:25:46 2006 SA Alert - Isidingo scene |
On SABC 3 today is an omnibus of the past week's episodes of Isidingo. I missed the episode, but have been reliably informed that Ms Barker Haines (Ashley Callie) is handcuffed to a chair.

Abby wears a Marilyn Monroe outfit that's to die for (based on the previews). ---- Episode description: "You are going to love Abby's (Pauley Perrette) Halloween costume. Just ask Tony and McGee. But don't expect an answer until they pick their jaws up off the floor. Work? Oh, yeah. The team is trying to figure out who attacked a Marine in his home on Halloween night and kidnapped his daughter. His wife's affair may hold the key in this new episode." |

Thanks for the picture (I forgot to followup and look myself!).
I sent a fairly circumspect email to the DJ, telling her how much I'd enjoyed the segment, but never got an answer. |

I'm afraid the DiD-iverse is *far* from linear. I detect at least three DiD-forces at play: The ANGELS DiD-force, which has three degrees of freedom: (Sabrina, Kelly, Jill/Kris); The GILLIGAN DiD-force, two d.o.f.: (Ginger, Mary-Ann); The DC DiD-force, three d.o.f.: (Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Lois Lane). Some also recognize the Scooby-force (Daphne, Velma), but most consider it a sub-set of the Gilligan-force. Others posit a Buffy-force (Buffy, Willow, Cordelia), but it has proved notoriously unstable. The Girl-Next-Door vs. Beauty Queen Theory attempts to unify all of these forces, but with only limited success; and no theory can account for the power of certain DiD-singularities, like: Leia-as-Jabba's-Slavegirl Sam Carter of STARGÅTE SG-1 (even though no one in the universe can seem to do an adequate job of tying her up). Catherine Bell ...okay, maybe that's just me. :-) |

I just saw the preview of the scene. I don't think that the actress in question will be of any interest to us. The other actresses (series regulars) in their Halloween costumes are quite another matter. I'll be taping just in case. |

I think it matters whether you're talking about we who are attentive to such things, versus the culture as a whole. I was thinking of the culture as a whole. Now, as far as the culture as a whole is concerned, they don't even recognize Wonder Woman as a damsel in distress. She's a superhero to them. That whole William Marsden lesbian bondage bit in Wonder Woman's origins would have slipped right past them, along with the few scenes in the Wonder Woman TV show. So she's out. Lois Lane, same deal. She's Superman's girlfriend. Her DiD stuff is strictly incidental to her role as Superman's girlfriend. This might be less true if Noel Niell's frequent bondage were more marked in the general culture, but it isn't, however aware we are of it. Emma Peel, you've got a better case, although I'd say more people think of her as generically kinky and sexy rather than as a DiD, primarily because of the hot leather costumes. But I wouldn't say she's primarily considered a DiD by the mainstream -- more as the sort of hot, sexy woman who would make the most of any DiD opportunity. Bettie Page is noted as an icon of sexual bondage, but not necessarily as a damsel in distress. I would say that Page is the number one icon of sexual bondage in our culture -- if you asked people, "Who do you think of when you hear the word "bondage"?" her name would come up number one by a huge margin, I'd imagine. You might get a few Dita von Teeses, but that would be about it. But I dunno if Page would be the one who people would think of when you said "damsel in distress." I'm not sure there would BE a clear winner in that category. "Charlie's Angels in chains?" I don't think so. I think the image of the TV series Charlie's Angels has been pretty much ereased by the more kickass version espoused by the recent movies. Elisha Cuthbert from "24" might be a top contender because of the big stink they made of her getting kidnapped and bound and gagged all the time. The thing about Slavegirl Leia is, sure she's just part of the Princess Leia character, but she's the part most people are interested in. She's the one who was referenced in that famous episode of "Friends" where she's described as most guys' fantasy. And at most SF cons, the Slavegirl Leias outnumber the Princess Lieas about five to one. At Dragoncon, make that ten to one. (Check out the pic below from this year's Dragoncon if you don't believe me.) |

> The other actresses (series regulars) in their Halloween costumes are quite another matter. I'll be taping just in case.
---- Unfortunately, with the notable exception of Shannon Whirry in Mike Hammer, Private Eye ("Halloween"), Hollywood has seldom used the Halloween season as a plot device to place a TV series regular in a B&g situation while clad in a saucy outfit. Bondage w/o the gag is also seldom seen, even when it would certainly make sense with their Halloween outfit -- e.g., Roz going as "O" for a Frasier costume party. Whereas (in real life) several years ago a few woman dressed in a blouse/skirt/yoke outfit as Lee's "Secretary". |

---- I'll admit I lack the cone-head to be an actuary, but couldn't Lois Lane be assigned additional "Degrees of freedom"? Among the Lois Lanes familiar to the mainstream, there's DC Comics Noel Neill Phyllis Coates Teri Hatcher Erica Durance Plus the Lois Lanes of the Superman movies (Margot Kidder, etc.). |

---- At least some in the general culture are aware of it. E.g., the June 29, 2006 Los Angeles Times newspaper article which starts with the wonderful sentence "Noel Neill and Jack Larson spent some of their best years in bondage, trussed up together waiting for Superman to break down the wall and save them." |

Sunday October 29 22:10:02 2006 The Secret of Hidden Lake |
Don't know if this Lifetime movie has already aired this year, but the guide says 2006.
I have no idea what it's about, but it stars Rena Sofer. There's a quick dream sequence between the 1:15 to 1:20 mark where Rena is handgagged. It's a quick little scene, but some nice close-ups and "Mmmmpphhh!". She was dreaming about when this happened to her when she was young, but in the dream sequence the images flash between when she was young and her current age. |

Sunday October 29 22:42:27 2006 Unexpected scene |
The 2-hour History Channel documentary "Vampire Secrets" had a short scene tonight. A few minutes after the half-hour mark a peasant girl in a sack is shown OTM gagged for a few seconds during a segment on the real life crimes of Countess Bathory. History usually repeats their docs later in the evening. |

We're talkin' Hamiltonian-mechanics, my man! Those are eigenvalues of an orthonormal operator. ...and you left out the two important cartoon Lois Lanes (Fleischer Studios & Superman: The Animated Series/Justice League). :-) (If anybody out there really knows this stuff, please pretend you're watching an episode of "Numb3rs" & let it pass.) |

Sunday October 29 23:43:01 2006 Hellboy- Sword of Storms |
The Cartoon Network feature "Hellboy- Sword of Storms" had a brief scene where a blond BPRD agent is attacked by an enchanted scarf that wraps over her mouth, and around her neck, causing her to pass out. She does get out a few "mmmphs", but it's pretty much for completists.
My local cable doesn't list a repeat showing in the next two weeks, but even if it's not on again, the DVD is due out in Februrary, I believe. |
