| I KNOW this has probably been addressed before, but who do you think is in charge of binding and gagging the damsels on the movie and TV show sets? And I wonder how the type of gag is determined, especially if you happen to see a rather creative one. |

Details, man...details! Are you talking about "X-Play", or G4's other gaming show, "Cheat"? X-Play has Morgan Webb (long hair) and a guy hosting, and Cheat has Kristin Holt (short hair) hosting alone. I happen to think Kristin has two of the best legs on TV (Morgan's not bad either). |

| from experience of being on set...every situation is different but it generally comes down to wardrobe or props supplies the gag, the actor often puts it on or if they are in capaple , the wardrobe man/woman will apply it. The director may decide how he wants it to look but the contitunity person or script supervisor has to make sure it stays the same shape. |

I was a prop guy on an indie film, and I got to tie the wrists and apply the gag (albeit loosely) to the actress. Was a great experience, all around (working on a film, not just gagging the actress) |

To answer my own question, we first see "Fancy" (Emily Harper) unconscious on the ground from being hit on the head at the end of yesterday's episode. The villain rolls her over on her back. Even though "Fancy" is supposed to be unconscious, Emily Harper noticeably moves one leg off of the other leg just after she has been rolled! The villain drags her away. Next we see her with her hands tied behind her back (with lots of rope), gagged with a black over-the-mouth cloth gag, and blindfolded with a patterned blue bandanna. There is no footage of her feet so we don't know if they are tied or not. There is no footage without the blindfold. The villain does not want her to see him. The gag does not do much to silence her. She talks through it similar to Ginger in the Gilligan's Island episode "All About Eva". There is some very good footage of her struggling in vain, showcasing her thoroughly roped wrists. The villain thinks to himself "Well Houdini she ain't." The preview for tomorrow shows her still tied, with the gag off but the blindfold still on. In my opinion, if there was no blindfold, this scene would be a classic. I hate blindfolds. Even so, it is still a good scene. It is one of the best bound, gagged, and blindfolded scenes. If you are a FAN of blindfolds, then you will probably LOVE this scene. |

Being as I was the director, I did it once but usually it's whoever is in charge of the props. |

| I often wonder about who actually decides the TYPE of bondage & gag. I imagine the script would say something like "John finds Mary bound & gagged in the shed". Who actually decides that the gag should have packing, or be a knotted cleave, or knotted in front, etc. or that the ankles should be crossed before being tied (yum!), the knees tied, wrists tied in front & connected to ankles, etc.? |

| I turned on Criminal Minds at 8:02 (my watch was slow 2 minutes)and the 3 girls were already at that time captured & all 3 in a cell. Was there any bondage when they were initially grabbed? I can see them being tied & gagged when grabbed & then untied in the escape-proof cell. Was there any bondage in the first 2 minutes?? |

| After checking out Criminal Minds and realizing there wasn't even a good abduction scene at the beginning with no handgags or bondage or anything, just the girls threatened with a knife and then cut to them standing unbound in a room...
I started grazing and came across a Chuck Norris flick called Cutter (2005) airing on Spike TV at 9-11 p.m. EST. Right away in the first 10 minutes, a female is kidnapped and bound to a bed with a tape gag. Various shots from various angles, as a ransom tape is prepared. Unfortunately, it ends badly for her, though that is not shown. Norris finds the kidnappers and goes Charles Bronson on them. There may be more to this flick, and it does co-star the lovely Joanna Pacula. This should repeat at some point, though my TV guide isn't handy at the moment. |

Also depends. I doubt the script is usually so specific as to specify the exact look of the bindings (beyond perhaps stating tape vs rope or cloth, for example). Like a couple others here, I've also done some work on a couple independent productions. In one film I worked on, the script called for the actress to be B&G'd. We handed the actress a cloth with the simple instruction to gag herself with it. She originally tied it OTM, but changed it to a tighter cleave when someone on set jokingly commented that it looked too fake and wasn't a "real gag". |

Back in olden days, many years before the Internet, I was trying to learn how to write scripts and I found a source to buy actual shooting scripts from produced tv shows. I bought as many as I could find that had scenes in them to see how those were done. To my experience, unless how they were tied or gagged was somehow integral to the story, which it usually is not, you would never get details like "knotted cleave" or "crossed ankles". But you would often get a mention such as "he grabs a strip of cloth and gags her with it" or "he ties her up and tapes her mouth." But what really struck me is how often in a relatively limited number of scripts I bought, that the writers choice was totally ignored. Often in Hollywood, a writer gets two kinds of respect. Little and none. The two examples I remember most clearly was I had the scripts for both "The Waterfront Story" from the Incredible Hulk tv show and the classic episode "The Psychic" from Starsky and Hutch. The Hulk script specifically mentions that Sheila Larkin's character is gagged with a cloth, and yet when they filmed it they tape gagged her, and the Starsky script specifically states that the Dianne Kaye character is tape gagged, yet she ends up gagged with cloth. The odds of anyone, like one of us, actually getting a script sold and produced for tv is akin to winning the lottery odds wise. Can you imagine if say you disliked tape gags,but managed to get your bondage filled script made- with a gazillion cloth gag directions included- only to find out when you sat down to watch it that the @!#$ director had ignored you and used duct tape??? Or vice versa of course! I bet most of us would be looking for the nearest high bridge in a real hurry, LOL!! |

Norris saves the day and she's released in the final 10 minutes. It is POSSIBLE she received some type of handgag or gag during her abduction by the bad guys, but I missed that portion of it. This one does NOT repeat this month, unfortunately, but I'm sure SPIKE TV will air it again soon enough. |
