Just FYI: "parsing" most likely refers to (in this web/URL context) the act of interpreting a "sentence" or other computer command/argument...akin to diagramming a sentence (remember that, way back when in grade school - subject/verb/object/etc)

Phyllis Kirk, who gave me my absolute favorite childhood scene in 1953's "House of Wax"-which I still assert was the first instance of unambiguously implied nudity of a bound actress in a mainstream American film-passed away Thursday at 79.
In addition to her place in cinema history, Kirk also racked up three database entries playing opposite Rat Packer Peter Lawford as Nora Charles to his Nick in the 1957-59 "The Thin Man" TV series. And as I recently discovered, she helped spawn one of my favorite lines of bondage-themed dialogue-albeit in a movie without any bondage. In 1950's "Two Weeks with Love," a turn-of-the-20th-century romantic comedy, she's shown being laced into a corset, prompting an onlooking Debbie Reynolds to remark "They wear the same thing in the loony bin. Only there they call them straitjackets!" I'm really mystified that Kirk didn't become a bigger star than she did. Her looks, and her association with both the Rat Pack and the Kennedys through working with Lawford (who, for those of you who don't remember, was JFK's brother-in-law) all should have worked to her advantage. Maybe if Oswald had missed... In remembrance, those of you who've never seen the original "House of Wax" should endeavor to do so this Halloween season. Not only will you be treating yourself to Kirk and Vincent Price in their primes, but you'll see the difference between today's formula slasher/killer flicks (of which last year's "House of Wax" remake was just another lackluster example) and a REAL horror movie. So long, Phyllis. Thanks for the memories. |

Granted, not like it's been a long running show or anything. Season 11 was on the horizon. That's a pretty good run in tv land. 29 scenes listed in the database. |

The latest informed word is that SciFi (NBC) asked to renegotiate their contract with MGM (who own STARGATE), & MGM refused to lower their prices. SciFi's contract gives them exclusive broadcast rights to *NEW* SG-1 & Atlantis episodes, *plus* they pay MGM additional fees for the actual broadcasts. This gives SciFi veto power over *new* SG-1 episodes, preventing MGM from shopping them to other networks. If SciFi says it won't pay for a Season 11 of SG-1, MGM won't (& can't) produce it. Apparently... SciFi did the math & convinced themselves they're better off continuing to pay for SG-1 & Atlantis rights, but not picking up SG-1, Season 11. SciFi *did* pick up Season 3 of Atlantis. STARGATE syndication is a different deal. There is a glimmer of hope: MGM will probably (fingers crossed!) produce at least two made-for-TV/direct-to-DVD STARGATE SG-1 *movies*. The first will complete/resolve the Ori story arc of Season 10, & the second will be... something else. I'm hoping the 2nd movie will be "Samantha Carter on Gor"... but then, I'm also hoping fried shrimp & keylime pie will be found to give you eternal youth & perfect health if you eat them in mass quantities. :-) |

Hey guys, this is pretty random but it's something I've wondered for a while now. On the site Ahsan Khan's Damsels in Distress (the site has been down for a long time now I know) http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Film/5360/
does anyone know what scene the picture in the bottom row of second from the left on the main page is from. It looks like a possible good scene but I've never tried to find out what it was until now. Thanks, Zahn |
