Wednesday October 04 00:03:47 2006 Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning |
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the new Texas Chainsaw is probably going to disappoint most (opens Friday, but I went to a screening tonight). I'll do my best to avoid any spoilers.
Here's a quick rundown of the scenes: - A bloodied Diora Baird (plays Bailey) is tied hands above head and barefeet together below a kitchen table. The edits are pretty fast, so you don't get to see much. A few good shots of her hands tied, but that's about it. - Baird is tied a second time; lying on a bed with her wrists spread tied to a wooden plank. Goes on for a while, but very few, if any, close-ups. Scene is also very dark. - The third time Baird is tied, her wrists are simply strapped to the arms of the chair. - Jordana Brewster very briefly has her wrists tied to the arms of a chair. All scenes are bloody, and most are dimly lit. There are NO gags at any point in the movie despite multiple instances where it would make sense. |

It was very brief, and the show overall was about a kidnapped boy, but this was a momentary side plot. |

A little searching at IMDB reveals: The Torturer (2005) Italian movie Review: "There is certainly some imaginative sadism here (women bound and put in wooden boxes then long nails are hammered in, blowtorch to a leg, electrocution in a wheelchair, a woman tied to a spinning wheel and flogged with a blade tipped whip)" Picture of a real cutie and a bit of info here: http://forum.dvd-forum.at/showthread.php?p=616980 |
Wednesday October 04 02:54:47 2006 NCIS Scene Caps |
I threw together some quick caps of the scene. Not really my thing, as I hate when the damsel is bloodied up. Some might like it though. Good tape gag, but loosie ropework.
Click the thumbs for larger images. Enjoy! |

> Screengrabs here Awesome! Many thanks! A suburban housewife MILF and cute uniformed polis in distress!! It looks like a genuine classic. You know sometimes what makes a scene stand out for me is not just the attractiveness of the DiD, or the manner of restraint,or the duration of the scene, or even the lighting and camera work, all of which incidentally are superlative in this particular case. No, sometimes it is,in combination with the character(s) portrayed, the situation, the set-up, the plot device used to deliver the Damsel into distress, that gives a scene a certain quality, just that something extra, that "je nais sais quoi". This scene definitely has that quality in abundance. Attractive middle aged housewife and her erstwhile policewoman rescuer held captive in a suburban setting!I mean this DiDsit is like a mainstream version of the sort of scenarios that commercial producers of bondage vids do...? Only infinitely better!! Only Major John's material manages to strike the same chord. A fantasy come to life on primetime! |

If you mean the scene from earlier last season where the doctor and Sawyer meet the Others, and they pull out a gagged Evangeline as a bargaining chip, yes it was shown, but I don't think it was in its entirety. |

Technically true (DiD-wise); however, remember that "sexy librarian" tread from a while back? Our favorite Mossad exchange agent, Zaza, I mean *Ziva* (Cote de Pablo) goes undercover at a circuit dating meeting as a "geek". She has the sexy librarian/virgin school teacher thing *NAILED*!! Hair in a bun, big glasses, bulky clothes (including longish skirt), & clunky shoes... none of which disguises her innate *hotness* in the slightest degree, of course. The camera pans her up & down as she poses for the team, teasing remarks are made, etc. Classic! In a perfect world, she'd have been kidnapped & stashed next to the guest damsel. {Sigh} Maybe next week Ziva will go undercover with Abby & the director. (...& maybe Jessica Beil will announce she's going to star in the first of a series of "Sweet Gwendoline" movies. {Sigh}) :-) |

Wednesday October 04 20:36:00 2006 Robin Hood returns to the BEEB!! |
For our friends in the UK, please keep an eye on the new "Robin Hood" series set to premiere on BBC ONE next Saturday (the 7th). I have no reason to believe anything DiD-ish will happen, but you know that Maid Marion. Even when she's played as a feminist Xena-clone, the Sheriff *still* gets his slimy hands on her... eventually.
The series looks like a riff on the Nottingham/King Richard/Prince John version of the legend, but I'm worried by things like this (from the BBC web-page (URL below)): "Filmed in Budapest, this exciting drama is a unique blend of exhilarating action adventure, wit and romance. Robin Hood's striking new look (no tights), coupled with the sharp scripts, updates the popular legend for a sophisticated contemporary audience." Also, in one of the publicity photos, it looks like Robin (Jonas Armstrong) has a rather modern-looking composite bow, rather than a Welsh longbow. Of course, I'll forgive *anything* after Maid Marion (Lucy Griffiths) gets The Full Treatment a few times. :-) Incidently, if you're looking for a good book, I suggest Stephen R. Lawhead's new novel "Hood". It's a re-telling of the Welsh/Norman Conquest variant of the Legend, heavy on the Celtic Mythology. So far, nothing DiD-ish, but it's *GOOD*. It's also the first of a promised trilogy! :-) Sorry if you youngsters aren't excited by the Outlaw-of-the-Green-Wood thing (I might be disinterested too if *my* earliest memory of Robin was Costner's "Prince of Thieves"), but boomers like myself still remember the lyrics of the Richard Greene TV show's theme song. Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen, Robin Hood, Robin Hood, with his band of men, Feared by the bad, loved by the good, Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Robin Hood. etc. :-) |
