Too many false alarms these days ending in a letdown. Yeah, and even pics can be false alarms. Remember the scene from Alias that showed Jennifer Garner in a ballgag and it turned out to be a promo shot for a scene that turned out to have no ballgag. And video covers! Don't get me started on misleading video covers, like the one for "Where Evil Lies" that shows a woman cuffed hand and foot on the floor of a cell, when there's no bondage of any sort in the video. Gotta be careful with those marketing people. |

That shot was never in the movie. She was just shown from a side angle. Likely a scene that was edited out, but still infuriating. |

Video covers are definitely getting even more unpredictable these days, its the ability to Photoshop the pics used for the covers and add whatever they want after the pic is taken. I think in general our community has learned not to bet on a "sure thing" anymore, that Alias pic and the Sin City debacle has really opened peoples eyes to the fact that theres no such thing as a guarenteed scene anymore. |

"Summer of Courage 2) the movie poster shows the girl sitting on a boat with her wrists crossed and duct-taped behind her back, wearing a black blindfold -- but the movie itself contains no such scene (maybe it was cut out or just a teaser)." |

On last night's episode which will probably be repeated several times this week on MTV, there was an interesting competition. The men and women teams competed in a challenge in which their hands were handcuffed behind their backs, their feet were shackled, and locked in a makeshift jail. They had to find the keys to the cuffs in their cells and release themselves. |

Tuesday June 13 14:51:21 2006 Searching for a Movie Scene |
I have been looking for a scene that I saw in a televised movie a few decades ago. I don't know if it was a made for TV movie or a broadcast of regular movie.
The subject was about a prostitute who was murdered in Vietnam. I don't remember too much else about the plot other than it was a military investigation (murder obviously occurred during the Vietnam war. I believe the opening scene was a long, slow pan of a woman in a red, silky dress. She was tied in a hogtie and, if memory serves me, in this scene she was alive. It was a consenual act at that point. I have a vague recollection that title may have included the word Spider or Scorpion. I have tried searches of Brian's database and IMDB without success. Does anyone remember this movie and its title? Thanks. |

There was discussion of how the perp liked to rig a noose with a pulley so the victim would slowly strangle as her legs got tired? I'm pretty sure it was made-for-TV, or it may have been an "episode" of one of those crime anthology series back in the late 70's, the ones with tag-teams of different detectives? Damn, I just can't recall enough detail to attempt a search. :-/ |

This is what you're looking for; Record number: 4386 Title: Internal Affairs (1988) Medium: TV Movie Actress: Lisa Cain Description: Brutal police procedural starring Richard Crenna has his squad of investigators tracking a murder who likes entices hookers into kinky bondage and then kills them. His signature is a nasty hogtie that includes pulleys and a noose. We get to see the apparatus in action when he convinces a hooker (Cain) to allow him to bind her wrists and ankles on screen. She comes to a nasty end. Cain is not credited in the IMDB. |

I believe that the movie to which you refer is "The Red Spider", whose plot concerns a disgruntled and deranged VietNam POW who is murdering people in New York City. His style of killing reenacts some of the tortures he witnesses and experienced as a POW. He carves or draws a red spider on the abdomens of his victims because this was the symbol of the North Vietnamese Army regiment that was assigned to guard his POW camp. Be warned, there is a putz scene in this movie. |

That's the one *I* was trying to remember. Van, if the movie you recall had the word "spider" in the title, then I think that the movie I mentioned in my earlier post, "The Red Spider", is the one you're looking for. I recall the previews for this movie, and was eagerly anticipating seeing it, and it turned out to be a major disappointment, with a putz scene. I recall the prostitutes restrained in a hogtie, but this scene wasn't very well-lit, so her bonds and gag weren't very visible. |

I'm not the one looking. I *was* trying to remember the prostitutes-in-hogtie-with-noose-&-pulley TV-Movie. As soon as I saw "Richard Crenna", the fog lifted. Crenna starred in a series of TV movies with the same character (Frank Janek) & supporting cast. I remember them being pretty entertaining (as crime dramas, *not* as DiD dramas). If you check the imdb (http://imdb.com/name/nm0001077/), you'll find *seven* Janek made-for-TV movies between 1985 & 1994. I just checked the imdb "Internal Affairs" page (http://imdb.com/title/tt0095376/) & the memories *really* flooded back. *Kate Capshaw* was in the cast, & I remember watching & hoping Kate would *finally* get a DiD-scene with a gag. (This was four years after "Temple of Doom" & six years before "Just Cause". It didn't happen, of course. {Sigh} |

Has anyone actually seen this movie? (The US release date was 21 April.) We've discussed various publicity photos, but I don't recall any postings other than one about damsels being tied up by "cult members" (or something like that). So... if somebody saw the movie, could they please make a dbase entry. :-) |
