I liked that in rehearsal, while she held her hands behind her back pretending to be tied, it was felt necessary to actually gag her. Also, if you go to the front page, the photo they used to showcase the pictorial was the gagshot. They said the play would take place in October. Hope they put up a gallery then. Would love to see her with full treatment. |

Monday May 14 12:44:57 2007 Crossing Jordan finally canceled |
One of the most frustrating shows of all time. Glad I gave up on this one after 3 seasons. |

The first four of the 8 new shows from NBC have plenty of potential (esp. Sarah Lancaster in 'Chuck') |

Monday May 14 19:05:08 2007 port charles |
a week or so ago someone mentioned that we should start monitoring Port Charles for an upcoming scene. I assume this show is on Soapnet? When is it on? I scanned thru the entire channel grid today for SoapNet & it never showed up as being aired. Is it only on on certain days? I also couldn't find it when useing zap2it (unless I did the search wrong).
thanks, rex. |

Monday May 14 22:50:07 2007 Surprise bondage scenes |
Most of the time, you can tell when a bondage scene is going to happen, especially in mystery, horror and suspense movies and TV shows. There are all sorts of musical and situational cues that lets you know that a bondage scene is about to happen, so much so that you reach for the VCR remote by reflex.
Some scenes, however, are total surprises. There's absolutely no set-up, no musical or situational cues to let you know one is coming up. Those tend to make more of an impression because they're more of a visual shock. The primo example for me was Nastassia Kinski tied naked and spreadeagled at the end of "Cat People." There was nothing like that in the original "Cat People" and there were no cues that led up to it. One moment, they're wondering what they're gonna do about Nastassia's unfortunate sexual proclivities, the next she's naked and spreadeagled. It was such a thrill! Then there's the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Disappearing Acts" which opens with detectives investigating a trashed business office. They open a closet door and there's a naked woman, bound and gagged with her own panties. That was a huge surprise, given that Special Victims Unit had been very stingy with scenes (given its nature) up to the point, much less nude scenes. And there's the movie "The Borrower" which is for the most part a straight up crappy horror flick about an alien that rips people's heads off (so it can borrow them). You see a nurse grabbed and dragged into a closet by the Borrower, the next scene is it leaving the closet in the nurse's clothes, and the next scene is in the closet, where you expect to see another headless corpse, instead there's a fine shot of a completely intact nurse, bound hand and foot and gagged. It only lasted for a second or two, and it was the only nudity in the movie, so it made an impression. Other surprise scenes that might have caught you notably napping at the remote? |

Monday May 14 23:16:55 2007 The Ballgag Steps Out |
The other day I was reading WIZARD, a very mainstream, strictly "PG-rated", teen & college-kid oriented pop culture magazine (specifically their Summer 2007 Mega Movie Issue). It had an interview with actress Bijou Phillips about HOSTEL 2, and the acticle was illustrated with a full-page still of her tied to a chair and silenced with a black ballgag. If you are one of the few who hasn't seen the still yet, it should be pretty easy to find online, as it seems to be one of the main images they are pushing the movie with. After reading the article for a few minutes, I had a weird realization: I was reading a mainstream magazine, aimed at kids, with Spider-Man on the cover, with a big honkin' picture of a woman ball-gagged in it. Wow. Remember when the only place, and I do mean ONLY place, that you ever saw a ballgag was in porn? And not even mainstream porn... It was visual shorthand for the outer limits of extreme sex, and even in things like Hustler it was more likely to be seen in a small ad in the back rather than in a featured pictorial. I don't want to give away where I work, but I will say it is about the most porn-free, "offensive"-image free enviroment imaginable, so I had a weird feeling like I was getting away with something naughty just by reading the magazine at lunch. Wow. Things sure have changed since Tarentino wrote PULP FICTION and felt he had to explain in his script notes just what a ball-gag was when a character was shown wearing one. |

Monday May 14 23:23:35 2007 Re: Surprise bondage scenes |
The ultimate surprise scene of all time, for my ill-gained money, is THE AINSLEY HARIET SHOW. I had a sort of crush on Jodie Applegate back then... but the fact that she was a newsanchor and TV host, rather than, say, a regular on a cop show, resigned me to the fact that she would never get gagged. But she did... ON A COOKING SHOW! I never would have seen that coming in a thousand years.
Mr. Moderator: Very sorry about the above double-post, no idea what happened there. |
