Friday March 28 01:39:26 2008 Funny Games |
Apologies if this has been discussed, but I searched the site and could find no mention of Funny Games, the recent Naomi Watts film that may be the most bondage-intensive mainstream movie ever made. Even the reviews have said that. I can't believe there hasn't been major noise here over this release. Or am I missing something? Like I said mentioned, I searched every category and found no mention. I love this quote from indiewire.com "Yet even these good-natured actors fall prey to Haneke's mind-numbing provocations, none more glaringly than Watts, who is forced to undergo her cruelest physical gauntlet (an endless single take in which she must make her way across the house, her body contorted in duct-taped bondage) clad only in sweat-and-blood soaked bra and panties -- one of the very few notable changes from the original film." |

Friday March 28 07:24:30 2008 Martha O'Driscoll in 'Ghost Chasers' |
I've just seen this 40's comedy with vaudeville comedians Olson and Jonson [ stars of 'Hellzapoppin'] and am astonished and delighted at the treatment of female lead, Martha O'Driscoll who experiences the full treatment what seems like 5 minutes into the start of the film. This beautiful blonde is secured to a mock electric chair and humiiated as part of a cabaret act by the comedians. The scene scores on so many levels : a stunning thick OTM gag; great close-ups of her shocked face; and some fantastic struggling - she's dressed in a night gown- which accentuates her well-endowed cleavage. Has any one else on this forum seen this outstanding sequence? |

Friday March 28 09:51:43 2008 Funny games review |
Last night on the big screen I watched "Funny Games." The main reason I went was for the bondage, and wasn't disappointed. The sight of Naomi Watts bouncing around in tight white underwear is as good a mainstream bondage scene as they have, a known star in great shape working herself around. Where the creep was taping her ankles was as good as a scene as every made in any commerical bondage tape. The gags were extreme of course, and if coming up on them by suprise would have had even more effect. I'd checked the data base so I knew what was to happen. The movie itself? Better on DVD to hit the fast forward. I know it was suppose to be a painful in your face movie about violence, and it certainly was. They dragged it out and I know that was the point. I did leave the showing and walked in on other movies when the scenes were too much, I didn't see the son killed or most of the painful things that happened, I was just there for the bondage. Any of us who see the movie will have our own idea of things we wished they done so I won't go into my list. But to see that bit of bondage on the bigscreen, with a name, fit, actress who was very much into the roll is something. I probably will buy it on DVD, just to hit the brief moments that I would be interested in. Otherwise the movie is not a pleasure or scare to watch, dreay, crummy creeps doing the crime, and viewers do want some sort of payback for the bad guys. I'm getting close to listing what I'd wished they'd done, but again let me say it will be better on DVD, and I am glad they made it. See it for the bondage. |

Haven't seen it yet, will wait till it's on DVD so I can grab the scene, but just curious. You mentioned "gags" (plural). Is she gagged more than once? Were they the same both times (lots of packing, thin cord holding it in)? Readers not wanting the surprise ruined may wanna skip the reply to this post, but (my) "inquiring mind wants to know"! |

Friday March 28 15:22:47 2008 Point of Fear |
I stumbled across a trailer for a low-budget film called "Point of Fear" that showed an attractive brunette damsel with ropes hanging off her hands and a cloth around her neck... I figured she was probably B&G'd earlier, though the trailer didn't specifically confirm it. A couple minutes of research turned up a brief reel clip at the actress' website that confirmed she does get tightly cleave-gagged in the film (http://austinmusick.com/Reel.html). Anyways, it doesn't seem to be out on DVD yet. *However*, you can download (or rent) the film off of Amazon's unbox service at http://www.amazon.com/Point-of-Fear/dp/B000Q3OBQ0 Rather annoyingly, the service is restricted to Americans. As a Canuck, I wasn't able to get the film. However, if any of our friends to the south want to check it out (and kindly report back) on the film, that would be great. |

Friday March 28 16:58:33 2008 "Taken" |
I was wondering if any of our friends in France might have seen the new Luc Besson/Pierre Morel film, Taken, in which Maggie Grace is kidnapped by white slavers? Maggie is definitely towards the top of my list of actress I'd like to see get the treatment (although I would rather it happen to her as a blond); however, after watching the preview I decided not to get my hopes up. It looks like right as Maggie's character is being snatched, Liam Neeson, who plays her father, speaks to the bad guys on the phone and tells them, more or less, that he's some sort of black ops guy and their dead, and I would expect that, with this sort of set up, the film then stays with Neeson and Maggie remains unseen until her dear old dad finds her, by which point she's probably already given over to a life of prostitution, drugs, etc. Still, the film is by the same guys that brought us "The Transporter," so it's not like it would be without precedent. |

Friday March 28 17:42:35 2008 Re: Funny Games |
Chris wrote: > Funny Games, the recent > Naomi Watts film that may be the most bondage-intensive > mainstream movie ever made. The game's afoot! Is Funny Games the most bondage-intensive mainstream movie ever made? I've seen the original and I'd vote "no." The one gag was amazing, but it didn't seem to me that the bondage occupied that much screen time. Of course, the bondage has apparently been ramped up in the remake. I'd say "Terror Among Us" is a likely candidate, though I haven't seen it so I can't say for sure. I HAVE seen The Abductors and it seems a strong candidate to me, but is it mainstream? (I'd say yes but there may be conflicting opinions.) Does bondage intensive mean amount of screen time devoted to bondage imagery, or does it mean how intense the bondage is (Funny Games definitely scores there, but there are competitors there as well). What say you, O solons of Brians Page? |

Pat Powers wrote: > The game's afoot! Is Funny Games the most > bondage-intensive mainstream movie ever made? You know Pat, most intense, most length, is good criteria, and TAU may be the best so far, I think The Collector just beats it out. For me it's about screen time, quality and sexiness and story. If it's hot all the way through, and that means not overly violent, and the DID looks good, and that means not beat up or bloody, and if the context is erotic, and that means a lot of things to a lot of people, then it's the best. TAU is mentioned because it also has multiple DID's; even better. In a way, I think we all look for the ultimate mainstream scene because it hasn't happened yet. So few contenders are even close these days, screen time seems to be the biggest hurdle, you know, flash cuts and all that. Story is a big problem too, we really need a good long kidnapping for love type story; only The Collector comes close on this. Intensity is good, but most here would say that means tight and realistic, not overly cruel, so that leaves out Funny Games, I think, but maybe not for others. Personally, I'm hoping for a DID Love Story to come along, and I think it may soon. 9 1/2 Weeks was such a disappointment, if you read the book, the author had a gag scene or two, but ultimately that story had no chance because the female lead was not into it and not willing to give up trust; it was the wrong story for us. The best mainstream scene ever? Not important to me to judge now, I'm still looking for the best one. |

Chris wrote: > ...quote from indiewire.com > ...than Watts, who is forced to undergo her cruelest > physical gauntlet (an endless single take in which she > must make her way across the house, her body contorted in > duct-taped bondage) ... This scene could've been a lot better; you only see her hop to the TV, then off camera into the kitchen for a knife and comes back freed. Now, had a shot where she cuts herself free been included (say the camera followed her) it probably would've been the greatest mainstream scene ever filmed IMO improved only by a gag and shoulder carry. I disagree with the hype surrounding the film about being excessively violent, I was actually surprised how little there was. The perceived 'agony' was enduring the long takes and cruel stilted dialogue, not the unseen actions themselves. Most if not all the violence was off-screen from what I could remember (you never see the kid die) and sadly most of the tying was also done off-screen - and I've seen a lot worse in terms of discomfort factor("Reservoir Dogs" ear cutting). **SPOILER** In fact, the only on-screen violence I remember was when Naomi's character shot one of the bad guys. With the exception of the kid it was hard to sympathize with the parents because of their general stupidity in who they were, how the situation arose, and how it continued when they had a chance of escaping (despite the fact no one deserves a fate like that) -- characters intentionally written badly by Haneke to make the film a little more 'watcheable' but still backfired with me. In terms of story there were some problems with the plot but I don't want to drift too far off topic. Suffice to say I look forward to the DVD hoping it includes scenes of binding that were apparently left out. One interview posted here not long ago did have Naomi mentioning Haneke took over tying her from Pitt because he wasn't doing an adequate job! |

Uh, before we all get wrapped around the axle over gag color and whether or not Emily is hot... let's wait and watch the ACTUAL DiD-SCENE, okay? CSI: Miami has a practice of monkeying around with the color balance. Whether they're using lens filters, gel lights, image processing, or all of the above, they're trying for a "Signature Look" of tropical pastels and sunset/sunrise lighting. It's difficult to tell tha color of anything on that show, much less a cloth gag seen only in a couple of grabbed frames. I'm much more interested in how long the bound-&-gagged-on-the-floor part of the episode lasts, whether of not she's hog-tied, whether there's some good gloating, etc. In any case, don't throw the baby out with the bath water BEFORE THE BABY'S IN THE BATH!! |

While we all go crazy counting down till April 1(BTW - All Fools Day:)), maybe a thought starter on which Crime Series currently on has the maximum no of bondage worthy main female characters . Me thinks it is Law and Order - criminal Intent. I cannot think of any of the CSIs or Law and Order characters getting into the kind of bondage that Kathyrn Erbe did in an episode last year - man, you could see that she had the wadded cloth stuffed in over a tight tape gag while her arms were really stretched ! And who is her fellow female detective - Why Alicia Witt, My dear. Remember Urban Legend and 88 Minutes.... |

Actually, there was a putz scene in the original version that starred Jamie Lee Curtis. In the previews for the remake, I did see a blonde, perhaps Britanny Snow, having a hand forcefully clamped over her mouth. This may have been the hand of the villain, the deranged former teacher who's stalking her, or from a male friend trying to protect her. |
