Naomi Watts is Making Promises
Source: Variety May 19, 2006 Naomi Watts (King Kong, "The Ring" films) has been cast as the female lead in David Cronenberg's London thriller Eastern Promises for Focus Features and BBC Films. Variety says the film will start shooting in November, right after Watts finishes filming on Michael Haneke's remake of his own psycho-drama Funny Games. |

Looks like The Major's latest update was up on 'youtube' almost before the announcement was posted here. |

Friday May 19 09:08:45 2006 Re: Buzzsaw history |
I guess most movie sawmill/buzzsaw sets are the product of a set designers' imagination. Caricatures of what they feel a sawmill to be like. Reflecting the tying of heroines to buzzsaws and railroad tracks to be a comic cartoony kind of concept in itself.
The only time I recall seeing a damsel heading along a conveyor belt towards a buzzsaw was in "The discoteque affair" episode of "Man from Uncle". Mostly the victims are tied to logs or more likely to a flat plank. Which would be more comfortable for the actress concerned. Like in "G-men vs the Black Dragon" and "Perils of Pauline" with Betty Hutton, who was seen, sadly all too briefly, tied to a long plank with overly thick ropes in the peril montage sequence. She was also tied to a plank, but in a different way and in an altogether different sawmill set for some publicity photos. |

To the response.
It is a 2006 straight to video or (DVD) release. It deals with a female reporter who investigates a dominatrix and then falls in love with her. The covers show one Platnum blonde woman with a black blindfold on on the front cover, she is wearing a corset and stockings. The back cover has a different woman laying on a bed with a white blindfold on, hard to discern what she is wearing. Does that help |

There must be lots of cartoons containing the set-up, but I couldn't find any mentioned in the DB. Toons may well be the source of the popular conveyor belt fallacy, which features in so many stories. > The only time I recall seeing a damsel heading along a > conveyor belt towards a buzzsaw was in "The > discoteque affair" episode of "Man from > Uncle". I remember that from when it was first transmitted, but I was too young to notice details then! Being UNCLE, it's guaranteed to be a spoofy studio contraption. My story is set in 1964, so I'm wondering if the conveyor belt fallacy was established by then. Mostly the victims are tied to logs or more > likely to a flat plank. Which would be more comfortable > for the actress concerned. Also, if she were tied to a full-diameter log, she would be too high for the saw blade. Talking of which, in the absurd "Ghost in the Invisible Bikini", the blade is turning the wrong way, so as to produce that suggestive plume of sawdust! |

Friday May 19 11:42:33 2006 unidentified scene |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMY-DSwu1T4&search=bondage
I found an unidentified scene on Youtube. It looks like it might be German. In it a woman is wrapped taped gagged and blindfolded. She rolls around on the floor and then opens the door with her bare feet. The scene changes to a short courtroom scene and then the video stops. |

I'd love to see a remake of Funny Games, but I don't see how they can do it for American cinema, nor is there hide nor hair of it anywhere but that article. Anyway, there is probably little chance of that massive cloth gag making it in. |

There are a few scenes of it in the DB. |

Friday May 19 15:43:13 2006 See No Evil |
"See No Evil, which wasn't screened for critics before opening day in keeping with the pervasive trend of 2006, is uncomfortably misogynistic even by horror-movie standards. Women invariably are referred to as sluts - and worse - and are tied up and tortured, gagged and kept in cages." |

I don't have all the timings for today, but I have to say this is an EXCELLENT ongoing scene!
Even though duct tape gags aren't my favorite, this one is consistently well-sealed. The scenes are well lit, we get lots of close-ups, she's wearing a very short skirt and white blouse and it goes ON and ON! Highly recommended! |

One occurs between 10-15 and the other, longer scene between 30-36. She still wasn't untied at the end of today's episode, so there should be more next week. I concur this is one great scene. |

I was about to post about that...I just noticed on my satellite guide that Conviction is a 2-hour episode, which runs from 8-10 (Central time) & not 9-10. All alerts have said that Conviction & Numb3rs were at the same time, but Conviction actually starts an hour earlier. |

Scene shown in promos occurs in last seven minutes of episode. This girl at least is alive, but not much of a scene beyond the unusual taping. Few shots before Rob Morrow comes in and pulls down loose tape gag. |

So what all ended up happening tonite on Conviction? I felt I just had to go with Numb3rs, although the scene wasn't any great shakes. Did I go with the wrong one??
I saw the very beginning of Conviction, dead girl tied up and tape gagged. Anything else? |
