Thursday December 25 14:15:14 2008 Doctor Who |
Just to let everyone know there was a small scene in Doctor Who tonight, a woman and a red 1800's style dress was strapped to a chair for a while near the end. The actress I believe was Dervla Kirwan |
Thursday December 25 14:29:19 2008 Kate Winslet, She-Wolf of the SS? |
Okay, now that I have your attention, Winslet's starring in a new movie opening today that might not seem seasonal, given its Nazi overtone. No, not THAT movie-hers is titled "The Reader" and she plays a streetcar conductor in postwar Germany whose past as a concentration-camp guard comes back to haunt her when she's put on trial. I'm just curious as to whether she adds to her scene repertoire in this one. You know, maybe a handcuffing or leg-iroining or something like that. And if not Winslet, are there any flashback scenes involving others (Lena Olin is in the cast as one of Winslet's former captives) that would contain anything of interest? For those who'd be inclined to think there might not be-and be forewarned; this will NOT be in keeping with the season-Google "Stutthof" (you also might try the spelling "Stuthof") to get an idea of where the filmmakers COULD have gone with this. And as for THAT movie-Tom Cruise's "Valkyrie," about the unsuccessful Stauffenberg plot against Hitler, it should be recalled that the Führer (hooray, I finally figured out how to do that with a Mac!) sort of took a bit of umbrage at nearly being killed, and is said to not have been above taking it out on the plotters' families. (Then again, was there ANYTHING he WAS above?) Does anyone who's seen the film know whether this aspect of the story produced anything worthy of note here? Oh, I almost forgot-Season's Greetings! |

Thursday December 25 17:45:46 2008 Eartha Kitt, 1927-2008 |
Don't know whether she ever got the treatment, but served as a notable villainess while binding and gagging Yvonne Craig in her Batgirl guise in the 60s.....while I actually preferred Julie Newmar as Catwoman, i think eartha was the one tying the lovely Ms. Craig. |

Thursday December 25 20:21:29 2008 Merry Christmas! |
Merry Christmas to everyone! Did anyone get any bondage related gifts? My brother gave me season 1 of "Adventures of Superman" on DVD. Now I can see the UNCUT version of Phyllis Coates bound and gagged in the episode "Mystery of the Broken Statues" (part of the scene was always edited out when shown on Nick-at-Nite). |
