Gemma Arterton
Arterton, Marsan and Compston Investigate Creed
Source: The Hollywood Reporter February 7, 2009

Gemma Arterton, Eddie Marsan and Martin Compston will headline the cast of contemporary kidnap thriller The Disappearance of Alice Creed, backed by the Isle of Man's CinemaNX production and finance company.

The film, which begins shooting Monday on the Isle of Man, marks the directorial debut of writer and short filmmaker J Blakeson, who co-wrote The Descent 2 for Celador.

"Creed" tells the tale of two kidnappers (Marsan and Compston) who carry out an immaculately planned kidnap after targeting rich girl Arterton. But things quickly unravel as the scheme plays out, with all three characters revealing an agenda that ends in a tense power play of greed, love, sex and violence.

German TV ZDF has something similar coming up in a TV movie with two damsels in the hands of modern-day pirates. Sounds almost perfect, but experience has tought me like many around here to take these too-good-to-be-true storylines with a grain of salt. Let's see what Old Europe is giving us on Feb 20th.

A necessary DiD-"drawback" to the modern-day pirates storyline is that by definition, there seldom is any plot-based reason for gags.

A rare exception being "Act of Piracy" (1988).

Watched this film last night. It was a shame there was only one gagging scene, for one of the two actresses featured.Just a very brief scene, and it wasn't for the youngest actress either.Pity.

You're right, I did miss that. Gag scene, too. But badly lit and shot, no close-ups where she's still enough to make it worthwhile. Nice angry emoting, though.

What is "Code Geass"? Never heard of it. Voice acting makes it sound animated, Jessica Strauss sounds American, and the other name sounds Chinese.

Kate Jackson in Scarecrow: "How dare you!" and one of my favorites, Stepfanie Kramer in "Hunter."

Yes, that Sgt. Didi McCall line was also one of my favorites -- perhaps second to Cheryl Ladd's in One West Waikiki ("Manpower"), which went something along the lines of:

"Mac! You do not make jokes when someone is tied up and gagged. It's... infuriating!

I'll definitely be keeping my fingers crossed for this one, Artertons been near the top of my wish list since her breakthrough role in St Trinians 14 months ago.

Hopefully we'll get something not dissimilar to Jennifer Ellison's scenes in The Cottage

Re: Interesting First Words after getting ungagged?
I like Fenella Fielding's reply in The Avengers ("The Charmers") episode when asked by Steed "How are you feeling?". Her response after her gag comes off: "Like someone who has been tied up & dumped in a box!" (incidently, the same exact response given by Anna Quayle in the much later "A Correct Way to Kill" episode, in which the bondage scene was a virtual remake of the one in "The Charmers").

Site Update
Bondagerotica is updated this week with a review of "Hercules and the Tyrants of Babylon," a movie full of intrigue, stabbing, women in chains, women tied up, secret pigeons, cavalry charges, slave revolts, general chaos and the stupidest feat of civil engineering in the history of civilization. What's not to like?

"Oh, Hercules, these chains are great! Look at this cool new game we play with them, it's called 'Crack the Whip'! When we get back to Greece you must chain us up all the time!"

Maura West on a soap opera was asked if she was OK while being ungagged and she said, "No I'm not okay. Ive been tied up, gaggged, held hostage."

...secret pigeons? ...secret pigeons?

Also, is the civil engineering stupidity greater than that of the ancient civilization on Skull Island who built a COLOSSAL stone wall to keep the dinosaurs and giant gorillas out... but decided to include a dinosaur and giant ape-size GATE?? Now *that's* stupid. :-)

...secret pigeons?

Pat... dude... I did a find-on-this-page on your article and there is NO MENTION of pigeons, secret or otherwise. I demand a refund!

And granted, without a SERIOUS plot twist, that *IS INDEED* the Stoopidest Civil Engineering Project in the History of Civilization. (Of course, the George W. Bush Presidential Library hasn't been built yet.)

In a way, it reminds me of one of those Made-for-SciFi-Channel "movies" where some office in the basement of the Pentagon with a LOT of Black Money they have to spend before the end of the fiscal year decides to fund an R&D project to create one of the following: Giant Snakes, Giant Ants, Giant Spiders, Genetically Engineered Dinosaurs, etc., etc. It's also a good chance to see what happens when you mix in a little Alien DNA, just to see what happens. Can you think of a more effective weapons system? WHAT COULD *POSSIBLY* GO WRONG??

Never paid much attention that Fay Wray, Ms. Lange or Watts were taking through the ape door and that no man door was built. Very funny when you pay more attention to the damsel and not the design of an architect.

I will let the stupidity of civil engineering slide on this one :(
