Complete waste of money if you're looking for the gag scene. I actually think the trailer showed more than was in the actual film! Basically a blink-and-you-miss-it-shot. The film pretty much puts the "Paula Peril is just about the bondage" argument from a few months back to rest. You get better scenes in - well, pretty much anything. They tried to make the film too serious, and in doing so almost completely abandoned the actual "peril" part. |

Too bad really, since Valerie Perez is pretty hot. They could've knocked it out of the park on more than one occasion in the series, but the films have been (relative) fizzles bondage-wise. For pete's sakes, just give us a scene of decent length with her struggling cleavegagged and bound next to a bomb or something. Instead, all the films have these stupid scenes that only last a few seconds. Complete disregard for the namesake. :-/ |

Complete disregard for the namesake. :-/ Couldn't disagree more; Valerie Perez is not hot at all. Very un-pretty face. Zero interest in these films, even if they were chock full 'o her in bondage. |

I made the argument based upon the previous films (and the comic, etc.), and I stand by it. When there's no film without some bondage scene, and no issue of the comic without some bondage scene, then bondage is a required component of the character. If the producers of the films are trying to "mainstream" her a bit by cutting back on the fetish-y elements of the bondage to give the films broader appeal -- while obviously still trying to retain the fetish types while including a scene, however brief -- that's another story. If they stick with that approach, I'll buy the argument that the series isn't intended for bondage lovers. Remember, Wonder Woman was basically a bondage comic in its early days, and it wasn't until later it became a mainstream comic where bondage appeared only occasionally. But for now, there's no episode of Baywatch without bikini babes on a beach, there's no episode of Law & Order without a courtroom scene, and there's no movie of Paula Peril without bondage. |

The bondage was no more than what was shown in the trailer. Lasted a few seconds. Terrible and a waste of money. |

I guess it's the general "Hostel" vibe. The industrial torture porn thing. I've loved seeing women in peril for as long as I can remember, but when they actually get badly hurt or killed, my machinery just shuts right down. Can't enjoy even the early build-up to what happens. You can call me whatever unmanly names you like, but that's how it is for me. |

We're likely in the minority, but I too am burdened by my moral compass when it comes to this fetish. The big scene in Rookie Blue, with Missy really opened my eyes up. I can't handle seeing disgusting perverts abusing women, bondage or no bondage, That said, I don't sit atop my high horse and condemn those who do. I just have a hard time distancing myself from the diegesis of whatever it is that's happening in the show. For those reasons, I've actually moved away in a big way from mainstream scenes - commerical stuff is where my head's at now. |

Count me in as well. I've found myself desperately searching for more lighthearted and comedic fare (the bondage at The Dish for instance) because I really cannot deal with anymore scenes where bound and gagged women are tormented or harmed by psycho rapist perves. |

It does seem that sexy fun and humor and even creative use of the fantasy is completely gone from mainstream media and is primarily replaced with realistic crime, violence, torture and abuse and murder and blood and gore. I don't want to even think of why this is as I have no interest in that direction, if it is a trend or a direction. |

I'm right there with you. I remember wishing Holly Gagnier would get a scene forever, then she did in Renegade and it involved a graphic rape. TOTALLY ruined it for me. I have no problem with a bomb or train tracks, buzzsaw & such deathtraps but I NEVER want to see her bloody, beat up, raped or hurt & I think the prevalence of "Torture Porn" is evidence of how far our society has degraded. |

Yes, we are a picky bunch. I also like to see my damsels in pristine mint condition. This is a FANTASY, after all. I can make believe that a gal - about to be killed or tortured or raped, or even spanked or tickled - will not have any makeup or clothing imperfections or other bodily imperfections or 'accidents'. |
Thursday December 15 22:34:56 2011 Re: Hostel 3 |
Ah, the ol' "dead damsels" debate. In my case I seem to have become a bit more lax in DiD clip editing lately, in that I've started including some unfortunate damsels who don't meet a happy end...... just as long as they don't get totally mutilated like limbs being chopped off, that kinda thing. In my earlier edits (even as recently as last year) I used to simply leave out anything showing a dead damsel, but having gone back to re-do some of them & for any other scenes that are new to me (i.e. Dexter, Hostel II, most CSI/L&O/NCIS/CM eps), I've tried to keep anything that doesn't totally gross me out. It's cutting/stabbing that I hate the most; really can't stand stuff like that. One scene that I will absolutely refuse to edit or even watch is Lindsay Lohan's one in I Know Who Killed Me. I've seen a few stills from before when the nastiness happens, and I have to admit she looks damn fine with that blue cleave gag in her mouth, but from the descriptions I've read the scene itself sounds disgusting. Totally NOT what I feel like watching for my "DiD fix", if ya know what I mean. |
