Tuesday July 08 00:21:00 2008 A Message To/From Brian |
>>message from brian and to brian I received this message, claiming to be from Brian. I believe that it is and so want to respond. I also want both sides of this to be in public so there should be no mis-understanding. Brian's text is shown with the >>, mine without >>Really. Keep up the good work. >>Frankly, after 11+ years I'm pretty tired of the whole >>thing, but willing to stick it out for the loyal gang. Pleased to hear that. >>Then I have to put up with this business. I have read through the logs and suspect that you may assume that I have in someway hi-jacked your site. I have not, will not and would not know how to anyway. I see my site as nothing more than insurance. As you know, we have lost a lot of other sites, and I don't want the shared culture that we have achived to be lost. >>What's it going to take to make it stop? I would be happy to help you get to the bottom of who is hi-jacking your traffic and sending it to me, if that is in fact happening. I don't know that it is. I suspect that what really happens is that your site gets flaky and so people come to mine. And I do not use the word flaky here to criticize you, just the connection between your visitor and your site sometimes, and we all know that this happens all over the web. >>Brian I hope you keep up the good work. You are doing a great job. I can not imagine why you would not want "free insurance" and it is clear to me that many of the visitors do like it. |

Tuesday July 08 00:44:50 2008 Foul Play Remake- Kate Hudson |
If true, something to file away for the future.... Kate Hudson is planning to star in a remake of 1978’s Foul Play, in which her mother Goldie Hawn starred in. Hudson will star in the remake with Matthew McConaughey, whom she had starred with in Fool’s Gold and How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days. Hudson has confirmed that negotiations have started on the new film, but "we don't even have a writer yet". |

Oh, this is getting like one of those movies - where a bit of an unhinged person starts doing things to 'help out' but starts getting too mental and then someone gets bound and gagged - I wish someone would make a movie like that!!! To keep it on course What are the best unhinged person goes mental films with a scene I like Play Misty for Me and Single White Female What are the other best examples? Not that this means anything Brian but you do come out pretty well in the above unhinged mental email exchange! |

More nominees featuring them crazed female captors: how about Snapdragon (yay evil Pam twins!), Deadly Embrace (buxom much?), and Kelly Ripa's immortal AMC marathon at the hands of Robin Mattson (which, as a soap scene, opens up a much larger can of worms, but it's so good that I couldn't resist). Like the thread idea, MM. Seems entirely appropriate. ;) |

BLUE HEELERS 494: Too Close. Probationary Constable Kelly O'Rourke (Samantha Tolj) is being harassed by a young woman, Estelle, who is obsessed with her. At about 35 minutes (with commercials) Kelly is showering when Estelle enters her home and abducts her. When next we see the pair Estelle is wearing the cop's clothing and has dressed Kelly in an ordinary dress. Kelly is seen in a seat of an old railway carriage, a knotted cloth gag pulled through her mouth. Her wrists are (as we see later) handcuffed behind her back, presumably with her own handcuffs. She is trying to make a sound as she knows searchers are looking for her but the gag prevents her. At about 40 minutes we get a somewhat longer view of Kelly and soon after her captor pulls the gag from her mouth. But when another cop gets too close the gag is roughly forced back into place, then at about 45 minutes while Estelle is distracted, Kelly manages to escape from the railway carriage into the arms of her rescuers. |

Jay L wrote: > Then read the above and now realise different. Don't feel > good about it at all. Me neither. I would hope that most of us recognize just how much time and energy Brian has spent on keeping this place running and skillfully moderated for 11+ years. Sure, it has its perks, but having his entire site mirrored against his will for "insurance" purposes because it's supposedly "flaky" can't possibly be one of them. Jenni: I believe you are sincere and good at heart (TM Dostoevsky), but you're hardly the first to think of this, right? Google does it, and archive.org does it, but there's a fundamental difference between them and you, e.g. "The Internet Archive is not interested in preserving or offering access to Web sites or other Internet documents of persons who do not want their materials in the collection." Is there something unreasonable about this, in your eyes? Brian would prefer that you did not do what you are doing, and the fact that you can't imagine why this is reflects (IMHO) a surprising lack of imagination. As we all know, I myself post other people's work online all the time, and I've occasionally been taken to task for it by third parties -- but if the actual copyright holders were to ask me to take those clips down, they would be down in an instant. Legal issues entirely aside, it's just a matter of courtesy. What makes you immune from this? </rant> P.S. Brian, I think this has come up before, but I would strongly recommend adding a robots.txt file at the root level of your server. (See http://www.robotstxt.org/robotstxt.html) Not that Jenni or anyone else needs to respect it, but it's the single most explicit statement that you can make concerning your preferences as to how external web services should treat your site. |

One of the surrogate's methods entails the husband returning home from work to find his beautiful blonde wife, Shannon Tweed, bound and gagged and being menaced by a seemingly crazed surrogate. Her purported madness is a behavioral affectation, however, intended to evoke an emotional response from the husband, and help restore his passion for his wife. In the first picture, therefore, the female captor is not nuts or deranged in any way. She's simply doing her job. |

As far as it being "flaky" I don't believe we've had and down-time in the past nine months since we switched hosting companies. It was getting a bit troublesome at the old one due to being on an old machine. Even then, there were just a few periods of DNS problem and a couple times files got corrupted. I have backups in place for all the messages now. Obviously, we've relied on any "insurance" from anyone else. |

Irrelevant. If xyz steals someone's copyright, that does not give jenni the right to rip off Brian. " At the same time I do like insurance, I have it on my house, my car, etc". "insurance". ha ha.
