Saturday June 08 00:40:42 2002 Question For Brian? & Editors? |
From DB Search Page: This database is still in work. Please let me know of any problems. A couple of new features: 1. Case sensitive searches. I wouldn't recommend this, since some people didn't pay much attention to the case in their entries. ________ We've gone through DB now, and I'd say it's now safe to do a Case sensitive search. Problem now is where accents are coming out wacky in the titles. Any ideas? Thanx |

> We've gone through DB now, and I'd say it's now safe to > do a Case sensitive search. Yeah, but there still isn't much reason for doing so. I think I'll leave the instruction as is. > Problem now is where accents are coming out wacky in the > titles. > > Any ideas? I'm not sure exactly what you mean here. Examples? Some foreign words got messed up after one of the crashes, due to using FTP in text mode vice binary. Those will probably be best fixed directly rather than you guys trying to do it. There will probably be a big change some time over the summer, as I will try to move to an actual databasing platform (MYSQL) rather than my own. |

> We've gone through DB now, and I'd say it's now safe to > do a Case sensitive search. "Yeah, but there still isn't much reason for doing so. I think I'll leave the instruction as is." Buddy awhile back posted of problems searching on Chinese actresses, etc. Search should be a little easier now. > Problem now is where accents are coming out wacky in the > titles. "I'm not sure exactly what you mean here. Examples?" I don't really need to post any, as you hit on exactly what the boy here meant. ;) "Some foreign words got messed up after one of the crashes, due to using FTP in text mode vice binary." Yes, all of them foreign words, (Alot German) and many are due to accents in names-titles. "Those will probably be best fixed directly rather than you guys trying to do it." Okay Was going to ask if you wanted them changed to straight English with no accents? "There will probably be a big change some time over the summer" Okay, Thanx |
