Is it new footage or was it footage taken from the Patty Hearst movie that came out a few years ago? It sounds almost identical, and I doubt the media reports got into the description as to how she was really gagged, so it seems odd that to different sources would both use a relatively obscure type of gag rather than a more traditional one. |

The actress who played Patty Hearst in that movie you're referring to was Natasha Richardson. She was bound and gagged in that movie, and her gag was a knotted cloth tied between her teeth. The media reports may not have described how she was gagged, but police reports certainly did. Perhaps the producers of this movie thoroughly researched the crime, including the details of Patty Hearst's gag, so as to impart as much realism to the movie as possible? They may have even interviewed Patty Hearst herself, and she may have disclosed the details of her kidnapping, including the fact that her kidnappers gagged her with a knotted cloth tied between her teeth. |

Tuesday December 29 08:19:30 2009 A Dangerous Man |
Just a couple of minor scenes I saw here. There's a very pretty actress called Marliana Mah,who plays the damsel in distress. There's one where she's locked in the boot of the bad guys car, hands tied in front of her, before being rescued by Seagal. No gag though, and it looks as if Marlaina's got her hands tied behind her, when she's telling Seagal how the bad guys grabbed her.No gag there either.Still, who knows?Let's hope we see more of this lovely lass tied up! |

I posted the picture I think taken from the dec 15th airing. It is Claudia but its a shocking scene just a very unsticky tape gag. No other ties and the scene lasts only a couple of seconds. Any more and it would have fallen off |

No Anubis, this is a different actress, it isn't Natasha. remember in the movie, you see her gagged with a reddish/pink cloth and the knot was pretty well between her teeth. This one is a total white cloth & the knot isn't really deep into her mouth. A different actress, but yes, the same type of gag. Maybe in real life Patty was gagged with a knotted cleave, or maybe the documentary producers watched the movie with Natasha before they made this documentary. |

Yes, she was captured at end of last episode by guy she saw in future visions. Her hands and feet bound with duct tape and green bandana (hopefully gag) around her neck. Definitely watch. |

I agree we should *definitely* watch, but I strongly suspect this will be like your typical soap opera kidnapping, happening over more than one episode. If there is a gag, it *still* might be a while before we see it, and it might be taken out repeatedly so they can... chat. We ought to try and figure out how many Eastwick episodes have yet to air. |

Tuesday December 29 22:45:28 2009 Disney's Plans For Marvel: These are the sorts of trends that interest me |
Call me more of a long-range guy, but I don't worry as much about the short-term trends, as it relates to our interests, as I do about the long-term ones. For example, I think the expansion of cable channels over the past decade has been a boon, with channels such as SyFy, TNT, USA and many others providing original programming with lots of DiD scenes. That makes up considerably for losing all those great woman-in-danger network TV movies we used to have. Now we have far fewer, appearing occasionally on Lifetime/Lifetime Movie Network, Hallmark and a few other providers. But hey, how about that Lifetime Movie Network? What a great repository for all of those TV movies! And while that's an "up" trend, another "down" trend is the fact that daytime soaps, which were excellent scene generators for years, are going extinct. Sorry, I digressed a little. Here's my point: There's a news story today about how Disney plans to use its newly-acquired Marvel Comics characters, especially since many of the major ones are already licensed to other studios. Disney chief Robert Iger is quoted as saying the company may initially test the characters on cable TV: "Instead of making a $200 million movie and kind of betting the farm on one character, you can develop a television pilot, a television series," Iger said. Remember, Disney paid a TON for Marvel, even knowing it won't be able to use Spider-Man, Iron Man, X-Men & Hulk anytime soon. It wants to get some use out of them right away. This news suggests Disney will be aggressive in getting superhero pilots and series onto TV over the next few years. And though there's no guarantee, we all know the superhero genre can be one of the best and most consistent generators of DiD scenes (even if they're slightly less so in these more PC times). Even better, IMHO, the kinds of scenes we get in superhero shows tend to be far less violent, or at least less grisly, than the CSI/Criminal Minds/Without A Trace kind of shows we have now. There's a place for those scenes, sure, but it's great to have some more "fun" scenes, and there are too few shows providing such scenes these days. Long story short (OK, maybe it's too late for that), I think this Disney takeover could be very beneficial to ensuring a stream of DiD scenes in future years. You never know what will happen, but I think this can only be good news. |
