Nope she was not tied, or more acurately no character was bound in the wrath of Khan. In the Search for Spock her character was played by someone else on the genesis planet with Kirk's son, but I doubt they were bound when ... as Kirk put it, "You Klingon Bas*ard, you killed my son."

Both movies were personal favorites of mine. Especially The Wrath of Khan.

Da Starship ... Da Starship.
Yes Tatu, but now for the real treat ... Mr. Spock dies. And T J Hooker wishes that gal from Dynasty was playing Savik instead of that Cheers babe. Guwwwwahhhh.

Oh How I love laughing at the superior intellect .....

Wedding Banned
This one from EmpireOnline news: Apparently, Disney was about to make a movie called "Wedding Banned" starring Robin Williams, Diane Keaton and Anna Faris. The plot would be as follows:

"The movie was to have seen divorced parents (Williams and Keaton) kidnapping their daughter on her wedding day to stop her making the same mistakes. But even as they flee, evading cops and a very angry groom, the couple rekindle their romance."

However, after the failure of the latest Robin Williams movie, "Old Dogs", Disney decided not to make the movie. Damn it! This could have led to an Anna Faris scene, though with Disney on board, I doubt it would have been something of interest.

Still, the article ends with "All, unfortunately, is not lost for the awful-sounding high concept, though: production company Mandeville Films can always try to shop it around town...". So, if it gets picked up by another company, maybe something will happen.

Just imagine it: Anna Faris, wearing a wedding dress, bound and gagged. Need I say more?

As someone who sets up "diabolical deathtraps" (love the term!) for my website on a regular basis, I have to tell you it is difficult to set up something elaborate when using live action. The reasons are very simple:

1) The human factor: The person in the scene is a living, breathing human being and her safety have to be paramount. Staging a time bomb scene is a very simple, very easy and very safe scene to stage. There are others that are quite easy to stage as well, admittedly, and the folks at Atlantis haven't gotten to them, yet.

2) The money factor: It's all about budget as well. Elaborate props cost money and they cost time to build, set up, etc. A simple time bomb prop can be built for the following costs:

- Road Flares: $7 for a set of 3
- Timer: $2
- Wire: $0.25
- Tape: $0.25

Meaning you can build the prop for less than $10 US. In my studio I have a "buzzsaw" prop that I built for about $50... the guillotine I have in the studio is from a kit and sells for about $60. While Atlantis Studios may have a larger budget than I do, I suspect their budget for a Paula Peril short is measured in thousands and not millions of dollars.

I imagine the creators of Paula Peril will get more elaborate in the ways they plan to endanger the plucky heroine. If not, have them get in touch with me... ;-)

Fangface handgag
Boomerang (a cable channel that shows classic cartoons) is currently showing episodes of FANGFACE, the 1978-1980 Saturday morning cartoon. In the opening sequence which explains the premise of the show, "Kim" (voiced by Susan Blu) is handgagged. A hand reaches out from behind a secret compartment, handgags her, and pulls her into the compartment. The opening sequence, including this handgag, is shown at the beginning of each episode. Episodes of FANGFACE are currently being shown Monday - Friday at 5:00 PM - 5:30 PM (eastern time) and repeated early the next morning at 1:30 AM - 2:00 AM (eastern time) on Boomerang.

I don't know if the handgag scene is taken from an episode of the series or not.

Moraxian,

I think you misunderstood my point. First off, I have seen many excellent scenes in various movies in TV shows, and the last time I looked, the actresses were all living, breathing people. I was never suggesting that the actress should actually be exposed to danger.

Regarding your statement about props and budget: look at several examples.

Fatal Error...about to have your brain melted by staring at a computer.

Joyride, the old shotgun tied to the door, is gonna go off when your rescuer arrives trick. (I particularly like this one because the bad guy has the forsight to nail the chair to the floor, preventing Leelee from shaking it away!)

Fox Hunter....same premise with a hand grenade and a room full of gas.

Baywatch...tied up in a trailer kitchen, gas filling the room, and a cigarette threating to ignite it.

All great scenes, all much more creative than the said scene...and none of these required any special sets or elaborate props.

I may be a little biased, because I think the bomb teetering in the lap is a little silly. It always made more sense to me to have it strapped to the chair, on a table in front of her, or on the wall in the room or something.

I guess, I just expect something a little more dramatic from a character with a last name like Peril.

By the way, I'm a great fan of your work!

Maybe we can all just agree that the poster who originally referred to it as a "diabolical Deathtrap" was being a little too enthusiastic. Anyway, it's nice that someone is making "movies" like this. Maybe they'll go on to bigger and better things.

Nope, but Wednesdays preview said Kendall manages to contact her husband. I'm thinking they are trying to stretch this one out since the actress is on maternity leave, so maybe it makes sense to stretch out the scene since she could be off the show for a while (rather than the "she went overseas" approach we so often see).

EN NOMBRE DEL AMORE
Nothing happened in this telenovela in which I made a possible alert. The villainess escaped and killed her captor. No restraints were seen and certainly no gag.
