Anything with Mila Kunis. Ever since the sixth season of That '70s Show, I thought she was soo sexy, and this movie looks like it has potential for some scene of Miss Kunis in peril. |

Hey Everyone, I hope it's not too late as long as the poll stays open. For the Lifetime Movie Network's "Pick A Flick Friday", one of the five selections to vote for is "Lies and Deception" where Madchen Amick gets the tight OTM gag treatment. I thought maybe if we get enough last minute vote in, it will be the movie shown later on tonight. Here's the link. http://www.mylifetime.com/movies/flick |

While Brian may come off as a Nazi at times & maybe we don't always see eye to eye, he's still got a great thing going here & some people take it for granted... As for the format, less is more IMHO. Because let's face it, nobody in here is going to work for NASA anytime soon. So simplicity is the key... |

Absolutely. And she’s given a lot to do. Most times, and I fight against this as much as I can, the female character is the damsel in distress, the woman that needs to be saved. And you don’t want to be screaming and biting your fist? Mila Kunis: Not my kind of… no. And that’s not to say that Solara doesn’t cause trouble, because she does, but she resurrects herself and fixes things. |

I've mentioned my view of this sort of actress comment before, but I think it bears repeating. I think modern actresses with brains use the term "damsel in distress" to mean "a one-dimensional bimbo character whose sole function in the script is to get rescued by the Hero". "Strong female characters" can get bound and gagged and need rescuing, as long as that's not the *ONLY* reason they're on the screen. Present Ms. Kinis with a fun, well-written, and cleverly plotted script in which her character spends half the movie bound and gagged, and I bet she wouldn't dismiss it out of hand. To use my favorite analogy, if she gave an interview and said she hates "car movies" and will never appear in one, she means stoopid, mindless, *lazily* scripted movies with nothing but idiots stunt-driving in fast cars with explosions and crashes happening every two minutes and NOTHING ELSE... *not* she'll never appear in a film in which the characters occasionally ride in automobiles... possibly even chase each other in cars. It's all about the story, and whether or not the actress has a well-written part that lets her exercise her talent. </lecture> ;-) |

Looking at it I'm inclined to think that this is the scene but that the production that I saw was a different one (perhaps a TV adaptation.) I remember seeing it on UK TV one evening when I was very young, perhaps no more than 4 or 5. Old British movies, especially movies like this, tended not to be shown in the evenings in the UK, they were more Sunday afternoon fillers. In addition Jack Warner is playing the villain here and he was in Dixon of Dock Green at the time, which the family watched pretty religiously. I'm pretty sure that had he been in it I would remember it even now. I know that Coward reworked the version for the film but the description of the play version also differs from what I remember. In the play the couple are both pretty keen to go along with the fake robbery, mainly because them being tied up is to provide them an alibi for someone else being robbed. The scene I remember the woman was certainly reluctant, and when the robber has them at his mercy there is a little taunting going on. I did some checking once I had the name of the play and there's nothing that suggests there was a TV version prior to the Collins one. So either it was this film, something all together different but with a similar plot or there is an unlisted BBC version still out there somewhere. |

Friday January 15 13:52:06 2010 Re: "Meet Me Tonight" |
As you are in the UK maybe you can help with something else on the edge of my memory. It was either a kids TV series or an adventure film called (I think) "Treasure in Malta." Looked everywhere for a listing of it and cant find it. I only ever caught the end of the scene but the hero and heroine characters are B&G in the back of an estate car hidden by a tarp or blanket and driven from a (I presume) Maltese town by the villain. I think it was mid 70's by the style of the vehicle though I dont now recall when I saw it. |

Right. She missed the perfect set up in Boot Camp, a big nothing burger. But Black Swan coming later this year looks epic; possibilities in that script for scene of the decade, or not. |

Friday January 15 16:27:11 2010 Possible holy grail "Watching the Detectives" TV series |
Anyone remember a scene in a tv series called "Watching the Detectives"? This is not the movie that starred Lucu Lui, but a tv series similar to "America's most Wanted" that aired on A&E's BIO channel a year and a half ago. I came across a pic on flickr recently. The album was all pics of the making of this series taken by one of the PA's. Apparently one of the other PA's working on the show also got to act as a hostage of some sort in one of the episodes. There is a pic of here with a bandanna tied around her neck and a person removing duct tape from her hair as she makes a pouty face at the camera. The pic's description proudly proclaims "the duct tape was wrapped completely around her head! ouch!" Anyone ever see this? Apparently there were only 7 or 8 epsodes. From the episode descriptions I could find, there were a couple of possibilities. I found some clips from the show in a couple of places, but none of them were relevent. It's likely that if a scene occured, it was a "blink and you missed it" type based on the format of the show. If anyone has any info or the scene itself, it would be appreciated! |

I read that the sex scene between Portman and Kunis was "extreme" and "aggressive" and that the rival thing was violent and disturbing; the things I read hinted at s&m, or not? So, "if" something develops between those two in a "dark intense psycho sexual thriller" which Black Swan is being billed as, then it might be the scene of the decade. I also remember a gag scene being called in Sherlock Holmes 6 months ago, and nobody was buying it because it wasn't in the trailer. |
